Re: Randomness

Is a bath really that great of an experiment you have to do it at work too? lol I haven't taken a bath since I was a baby, does it make me a freak? wink Not like I have something incommon with Rob, though. It's just showers are more common in Finland than baths. I quess it's about the hygien.. Much of bacteria in a bath...

Oh, damned. Hygien... I've got get cleaning again.. Another birthday tomorrow. I've got less than two hours to vacuum and wipe the floors of this 120 square-meter ( about 1291 square feet) house... Then I have to go shopping for some cakesuplies. I'll make a chocolate cake and a bredcake (is that even the right word? It's a salty cake made of bred and fish and stuff) tonight. Tomorrow morning I'm still gonna make one cake where we actually put the candles in... And the rest is just arranging stuff.. Oh man, this year these birthday parties are getting pretty heavy on the wallet.. It's a good thing we got a lot of tax refunds big_smile One of the nice things about living in Finland. They give out the tax refunds in the Independenceday, dec. 6th. Christmas money! lol OK, gotta go now... I'd rather stick needles under my fingernails than clean......

Re: Randomness

I like baths just for relaxation.  Never instead of a shower.  I don't wash in there, just soak.  I put out candles and turn off the harsh light, play some music and just sit in a hot bubble bath whenever I'm stressed out or achy, or just wanna veg for a while.  I might even have an adult beverage in there.  Perhaps a little rubber ducky.  tongue

Last night for example...  big_smile

Re: Randomness

Ah, Deb. A bath like that I could try too. Then take the shower. big_smile I often think if it would be nice to relax on a bath. I might like it more than sauna. Or not. My fear of drowning might kick in (I'll bet they have a -phobia- ending name for that too)... Can't know what you haven't tried. Is it half as good as a jacuzzi?
Last night I relaxed pretty well at sauna. I lied down on the top seat (the seat is about the same lenght as I am big_smile ), through some water on the rocks every now and then. Enjoyed the hot wave that came upon me. I could have fallen asleep in there. lol Did really good for my belly. I always get a bellyache when I lie on my back or touch my belly. Even the smallest pressure.. can't even do sports anymore if it involves the muscles around there.. Jaiks. Sorry for whining. I have a pretty good idea what it might be but I won't know for sure until the 29th of this month...

I'm beat! I did my cakes and stod up the whole time. My feet are... Never mind. Gosh, why do I keep whining.. If I vent here you'll hate me..

What nice things did everyone do today?
big_smile
My cakes came out pretty good. The bread-one could have been bigger but I'll bet it tastes great. Some of the stuffing was left over so I put some on a bread and it was awesome. I'm a bit enthuastic to taste the chocolatecake. I've never before done it with the chocolate I used now. big_smile Tomorrow morning it's frosting for the breadcake and the creme-covered cake.. And this and that.. lots of little things to do. Funny how I feel less stress than a week ago even when I have more guests now and more food to prepare. big_smile And we have a kid having a sleep over and everybody is still up! Goooood, the noise around here.. It's 11pm, go to bed already! Usually my kids go to bed by nine but always a different story when there's someone having a sleepover...

Kids start pretty young, these days. The dating thing, I mean. My daughter is turning 7 and she has a boyfriend. lol They are even sleeping on the same mattress. roll My daughter is quite a romantic. She made a new friend when she was three, a boy. They were best of friends for three years. Then she started telling everybody how she's gonna marry him when they grow up. lol They boy freaked out and they play less together ever since. How typical of men! They most be born with commitment issues! wink

It's not even really half as good as a sauna, but it's still good.  big_smile

I slept half my life away today.  And that was very nice.  I don't get nearly enough sleep during the week so sometimes on the weekends, it really catches up with me.  I fell into a nap that I just couldn't get out of.  But that's OK.  I should be good to go now.

Re: Randomness

So it's predicted to be around 55 degrees today. But a big cold front is coming through tonight, which will lower tomorrow's (Monday's) high to only 19 degrees.

Going to get a wintry mix tonight and then around an inch of snow tomorrow.

Well at least we're not getting the blizzard like Minnesota and other northern states are getting this weekend. Plus their temps are going down to around -29. Which with 40 MPH winds, the wind chills must be brutally cold up there.

Anyways, planing on going out this morning to Best Buy to buy the Speed Racer collection for $19.99. Really buying it just for the case. Already own the entire series on dvd, but I've already seen amazon.com selling it without the case.

Re: Randomness

Wow, most successful birthday party I've ever put together! big_smile The cakes turned out like pieces of heaven; all three of them big_smile For once, all the cakes on the same birthday are just perfect. So why the heck people didn't eat them as much as I did? lol I'm full...
The most important thing, of course, is that the birthday girl is having just about the best day of her life. I don't know if she's ever had this many friends over. big_smile And everybody is playing together well, no fighting at all. big_smile Success!
Now most of the adults just left so I got to sat down here for a while. My best friend and her kids are coming soon. She's gonna bring us an aquarium with a turtle. big_smile Finally we get a pet. And the turtle is named Jaska; that's kinda like finnish version of Jacob! wink

Re: Randomness

Good morning. How's everybody on this fine morning? big_smile

Well actually the weather isn't that fine and I got only about six hours of sleep last night... but it FEELS like a good morning. big_smile I'm feeling perky. I'm amazed. yikes I had a pretty crappy evening last night.. Pains again..causing the insomnia.. never mind. I won't whine endlessly...

Right now I'm painfree and having a good day. big_smile I won't spoil it by stressing about cleanup. That can be tomorrows purgatory. I promise I'll even lift the coutches upwards again so I can chase all the dustballs properly. roll:D Christmas cleaning and decoration and so on. Today I'll just chill. Cafe del Mar, Muse and all other nice bands on my ears; the boys on my sight playing nice for a change. big_smile I'm doing way too much webtime. I'd better write something creative.. Maybe I'll plan some more of my Twilight fanfic.. My Adam&Joan-one kinda hit the fall a while back. I'll just let that one stew for a while..

Oh, and why I ment to post: we didn't get the turtle. Bummer. I'll get a pair (yes, two of them. I don't want them to be lonely) of some nice species soon... big_smile I'm thinking reptiles. Or turtles. Or fish. Or birds.. Obviously I'm allergic only to the hairy-ones. big_smile

So my computer had to be taken to get fixed and I haven't had a chance to get online since Thursday. I won't even have my computer again until Tuesday. I missed all of you and I'm bummed that I went a whole weekend without coming on the message board. I hope I was missed and now I'm back again for good.  : )

Stoooooop!!!! Do you hear me, Anne's foot???!!! Don't make me come there.. I swear I'll hitch a  ride from Santa if I have to!

Oh, Anne. Do you get enough magnesium? My feet always cramp when I don't eat magnesium pills. So I've got some that taste like chocolate. big_smile

As my sig might tell you, I'm finally on the christmas mood for sure. big_smile Today I wondered to my favorite movie theater's webpage and learned that there's a sale on tickets and a movie on that I'd like to see with my daughter. So, since today is really her birthday, we went. And had a blast. It was a real tearjerker that movie. :embarrassed: I hope noone noticed me wiping my eyes about ten times... But it was really good. Looked awesome for a finnish flick. big_smile
It was this finnish christmas movie about how Santa was born. It was published a year ago, the DVD is out and it's international now.. if you wanna see it... It was Joulutarina..Christmas Story. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0772176/
Hey, it was filmed 80 kilometers from my hometown. I once drove there on a snowmobile.. with a boyfriend. whole another story..

Re: Randomness

So, we've had the biggest snow so far. I would say around 4 inches

It hit during rush hour yesterday, and the expressways were dreadful. On the weather channel they said the speed of travel went down to 9 MPH on one of them.

Looks like we'll have a white Christmas this year for sure. No thaw is in the cards for a while according to the forecasts.

Nice. (Or not for the drivers.) I kinda want a white Christmas too, but we'd have to be very lucky to have one. It's been a few years since we had snow on Christmas. As a kid we had white x-mas every year. That's global warming for ya.

Re: Randomness

Yes, white christmas is wonderful. I found a new appreciation for it a couple of years back when we had a snowless christmas (just a little over 100km south from the arctic circle!!! yikes ) and it felt so dark and gloomy. It's so dark around here anyways in this time of year. I kept saying everyone that's the global warming. Everybody just rolled their eyes at me. They wanna close their eyes from such redicilous things. Or hope that not talking about them makes them go away. That's finns for ya.

We had a little snowblizard yesterday. It started when we were at the theater. Suddenyly it felt really cold in there. Drawty. And when the movie ended and we went out my hair was flying around my head and this freazing cold wind blew in my face and put snow at my eyes. The wind can get pretty crazy in this town. So close to the sea and then there's the river that come all the way up north. So if the wind blows from north (the river) or south (the sea) we're freazing our butts out. And it kinda doubles the cold.
And yeah, I was happy I wasn't the one driving the car when JTT came pick us up from the theater..

The only day of the year I want snow outside is Christmas Day, but I usually get it on my birthday. That's my life for ya. roll

Well, and we have a ton of snow before christmas. Which I hate because I have to walk to work and snow makes it more difficult. Today I almost fell because the streets were so icy. I hate that. I want summer back or at least less icy streets, please.

Now we're under a Winter Storm Watch for Thursday into Friday morning.

Except this time it's for the possibility of Rain/ Freezing Rain. WGN said anywhere from 1/4" to 3/4" of freezing rain is possible.

It's not even winter yet, and I loathe this winter already. Too damn cold, too early. Crappy snow/freezing rain.

I just hop this one goes more North or falls apart.

Re: Randomness

I guess this is good news.

Well, somewhat anyways.

We're now under a Winter Storm Warning for this afternoon into Friday morning.

Now they're saying 6 to 12 inches of snow, with the higher amounts towards the Wisconsin/Illinois border..
Here will be 6 inches or less.

Mid-Illinois is under a Ice Storm Warning. That's the good news - that the ice went downstate and not here.
Even though it's no fun driving in that much snow, at least it's easier than driving on ice. At least you can get some traction on snow.

Wow, I don't think I had oceanography at school. We just had geography and it was boooooooring. The last geography teacher I had couldn't even speak German very well. Same for my last math teacher, maybe that was the reason why I sucked at science. LOL
