Seems to be real, then. Larry, have you heard back from Luke on this? Would be cool if we could get the DVD in January.

Nope, nothing.
It's especially odd since he has a mailing list which is VERY up-to-date. He has been sending out the exact dates and times for every theater showing the film as soon as he has had the info.
Maybe he's just focused on the box office right now, which I can understand.
I can only assume he will blast it out as soon as he wants to start promoting it.

From Larry on IMDb:
Interview with Choose Connor writer-director Luke Eberl:
POP Quiz: Five random questions for actor/director Luke Eberl
Lucas "Luke" Eberl was just a little boy from Boulder when his mom started driving him from Colorado to California for pilot season auditions. Yet even then he had stars in his eyes—movie stars.
As a child-turned-young adult, Eberl's TV and film acting credits include Boston Public, Judging Amy, Planet of the Apes, and Touched by an Angel, as well as over a dozen others. Acting lent itself to screenwriting, producing and directing short films in 2002 with the release of his first short, Incest. At 20, Eberl's first feature film, Choose Connor-—a movie about one teen's commendable and/or corrupted coming of age under the influence of U.S. Senate Candidate Lawrence Connor (played by Stephen Weber)—-started collecting film festival placards from around the world, one of which reads, "Best American Independent."

He was on Boston Public and Judging Amy? Wow. Didn't know that. Cool interview, though. Thanks for sharing.

I can't wait to buy Choose Connor on DVD. Chris and Michael are amazing!!!

No spoilers here, but just in the interest of full disclosure (so nobody will be fooled or disappointed) -- Michael is not actually in the movie. All his scenes were cut out except for about one frame. I believe at least two of his scenes will be on the extras, however. And he is still listed in the credits at the end and has a "thank you." And Chris only has one scene but most of you probably know that, although it is an extremely important one.

Yep, I knew all that. I'm still extremely interested in the movie. The subject matter sounds very controversial and I have a feeling this movie has an important message. Those are usually the best ones.

Just lettin' folks know in case they don't.
You have to see the film to understand why Michael's scenes were cut. Otherwise it's a major spoiler. I can tell you that the film works much better without his scenes and all of us were extremely pleased with the edits. I spoke with Luke, the producers, and Michael about it and we are all on the same page.
That's one of the great things about Michael. He was totally pleased with the changes and agrees that they were necessary.

Guess unless you have Netflix membership, or you're willing to pay $25 to buy the movie (sight unseen) off of Amazon, nobody will get to watch this movie anytime soon. Can't find it at any Blockbuster or Best Buy anywhere near me. Damn shame.

I just saw it (i do have netflix). Chris's part isn't just small, it is almost a cameo. He is very briefly at the beginning, and then he has one small scene about 3/4 of the way through. That is it.
The movie is okay. I wouldn't recommend buying it for $25. Wait for it to show up at a video store or cable.

Thanks, Rick. We knew it was a tiny part, but it has been described as pivotal and it looks very emotional. Also, I dig Steven Weber. But I've decided to wait for now rather than spend the money to buy it. Your opinion reinforces that decision. Much appreciated. I'm also disappointed that Mike Welch got cut out. I do wish I could support Luke Eberl and plunk down the cash, but I just don't have it to spare, ya know?

I can remember the first few movies I ever rented the day I got my first VCR in 1983: Arthur, Watership Down, Time After Time. All movies I loved.
In 1984, I started working in the video business (I did 14 years witht 4 chains) and the first thing I did was buy Times Square for the wholesale price of $58. Not long after that I bought Willard for $34 wholesale. I bought a lot of new movies at wholesale that were released at full "rental" price. I think Fright Night cost me $58. The Legend Of Hell House cost me about $45. I got Something Special for about $54. And I didn't make much money back then. But like you said, it was just amazing to be able to OWN my favorite movies.
Snapping into old fogey mode, these kids today just don't understand the concept of never having owned their favorite movies until all of a sudden, the video industry exploded in '83-'84. It was so exciting! And the idea that you could collect all the episodes of your favorite TV shows and watch them whenever you wanted? Completely alien notion to me till I was 19. My first few video tapes are filled with Cagney & Lacey episodes and music videos...

TeeJay, I don't think I'm spoiling anything with what I'm about to say. You've seen the trailer and we know what the movie's about...
Jesus D. God. Wow!
I'm sorry if that offends anyone, but this film has greatness in it. There are moments in it that will blow your mind if you watch it closely. Technically, it's merely efficient. But the acting is perfect and the script is very special. I had to stop and take a break after Chris's big scene because it is powerhouse. He does this thing with his eyes that is going to haunt me for days. And if you think you've seen TDA from him before, the way he falls apart in this scene is gut-wrenching. The horror of what he has been through, and his own complicity in it, just overwhelms him. It really shredded me. As did the scene where Owen and Caleb talk about Tony later.
This is such a triumph for Luke Eberl. I'm really proud of him. He's got a great future.
