I saw a poster for Race to Witch Mountain at a bus stop today.  The ad campaign is going to be big if it is starting now.

Re: Race To Witch Mountain

The standees were in theatres by Christmas.  Gotta love Disney at least for their marketing genius.  smile

Re: Race To Witch Mountain

I just finished watching Return To Witch Mountain. I like that one too, but somehow I found it hard to ignore that the special effects looked so cheap and obvious. Kinda ruined the illusion for me, though of course I'm aware that back then, it was probably pretty state-of-the-art.

Now I'm really curious how they're gonna revamp the whole Witch Mountain universe and make it a modern day adventure. I'm still geeked up. I might just be able to see it in March too since I'm planning a business trip to the US in the last two weeks of March. And it's not entirely unintentional that I picked those two week. tongue And if I get really really lucky, maybe I'm gonna be in a city where Fanboys is still showing at that time, though I guess that's pretty unlikely.

Re: Race To Witch Mountain

Disney FX were never state-of-the art.  Close Encounters Of The Third Kind was released in the same year as RTWM.  That movie was state of the art.  But all of us who grew up on Disney live-action movies love them anyway.

Re: Race To Witch Mountain

I don't even know what "state-of-the-art" means. :clueless:

I watched both Witch Mountain movies on New Year's Eve and I have to say, I liked the first one better, but not for the Special Effects. I just liked the story of the first one better and I already knew that the Special Effects wouldn't be so "special" anymore.
I just hope that it won't take ages for the new movie to come to Germany and that I'll be able to see the Original version.

It won't. April 09, 2009. That's only four weeks after the US release date, I think that's pretty good.

Re: Race To Witch Mountain

Right, I remember. Thank God! It's just that since my theatre is only a small one, I won't have confirmation for the OV that soon. roll

Re: Race To Witch Mountain

Yeah, I won't know until April 07 if the movie shows around here in OV. Though the theater in Cologne has a monthly schedule and if it lists the movie for April, there's a 99% chance that they'll end up showing it, but I won't know this until March. More impatient waiting....... :waiting:

Re: Race To Witch Mountain

so guys, chris is gonna be in this 100% ? because i was to the movies last night and there was a promo for race to witch mountain. as the trailer went on my brain started to make the connections and i was like - oh, oh, this is the race to witch mountain. so i will ruin my reputation by going of my own free will to a movie staring " the rock "  tongue

Re: Race To Witch Mountain

Oh yes, Chris is in this. He doesn't play one of the leads, but if you saw the trailer that's also online, he's in it for about two seconds (he's wearing a hazmat suit and helmet and says, "Awesome!"). We're not sure how much screentime he'll have, but I'm pretty sure he'll be seen throughout the movie a fair bit.

I'm not the biggest fan of The Rock either, not that I've really seen anything he was in, at least not consciously. But I'll so watch this movie! big_smile With any luck, I'm gonna be on a business in the US the week after the movie's released. Cross your fingers that that'll work out!

Re: Race To Witch Mountain

The Rock ain't that bad. big_smile I like him, some of his movies are great. I'm not into ridicilously huge moucsles but he does do a good action movie. smile I especially loved The Rundown. wink Christopher Walken's in it. And Sean Willim Scott looking all hunky... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0327850/

Woohoo!  I get to be post # 40,000!

There's a new RTWM trailer.  This will be shown during the SuperBowl.  Sadly, it has LESS Chris than the first one.  Hilariously, it has Stormtroopers!!!

Go here, peep this...

Re: Race To Witch Mountain

Official YouTube channel is now online: http://www.youtube.com/user/RacetoWitchMountain

So far, it has the original trailer, the Superbowl trailer and a car chase scene from the movie. The only thing Chris is in is still the first theatrical trailer where you can see him for, like, three seconds.

There's a new video.  No Chris, but it's still pretty cool. We get a glimpse of Garry Marshall as the nutty UFO guy.  Go here and click on the one called "Ride Of A Lifetime":
