Re: Randomness

WTF???

It's snowing in Hotlanta.  And I don't remember anyone saying it was going to at any point over the last few days.  I was up really late and slept late and what woke me up was this huge crack of thunder.  So I guess we're having thundersnow.  I'm just stunned.  I wanted to go see Fanboys one more time today, but I don't know if I should drive 30 miles.  It's not sticking to the roads.  Yet.  But what if it does after dark?

Re: Randomness

Those pics were taken at about 1 PM.  It got worse and stayed that way for a while.  But yeah, temps are hovering at or just above freezing right now. I'd say we got 2 inches, but some of it has melted and it rained a little.  The problem is that it's gonna be in the 20's tonight.  I expect black ice in the morning.

Nobody panicked.  We were still able to get around, but I didn't feel comfortable driving 30 miles away to see a movie and coming home in the dark.

Re: Randomness

My dog used to do that sleep-walking thing.  I always wanted to know what he was dreaming about.

And that Manilow at the mall thing... do they realize that if the kids leave, the mall will lose money?  It's not just the "unruly" kids they'll get rid of, they'll probably lose a good portion of their customers.  I'd leave.   Or at least bring my iPod.

Re: Randomness

I think all dogs walk, run, bark, whine in their sleep at one time or another.  Lacey did.  But I've never seen one run like that, get up, bark and run slap into a wall.  Poor doggie.  He needs a helmet.

Re: Randomness

Aww I somehow missed him running into the wall.  Poor thing.

Midnight ran into stuff sometimes.  Not right after he got up, because he usually spent about five minutes trying to figure out which direction to go.  He was about 85% blind and could only see the outline of large pieces of furniture and his depth perception was horrible.  He learned the layout of the house, so he stopped running into walls in a couple weeks but we could never move furniture on him.  If he did bounce right up from a nap and go running, he probably would have slammed into the wall every morning.

Re: Randomness

I have absolutely NOTHING to eat here, but I'm too lazy to go to the grocery store now. I guess I'll just skip dinner and only drink some tea tonight.

Oh, and I have a plan. There is this new fitness club in my town and I finally decided to join (if they have acceptable prizes).

Re: Randomness

Those are beautiful, Mel!  You guys got a few inches, didn't you?  For the record, Mel lives about 70 east and northish from where I live.  I think you guys were in the 3-5 inch range up there, right?  We were in the 1-3 inch range.

Re: Randomness

It didn't really stick to the roads here on Sunday when it snowed for 2 hours.  But it rained that evening and dropped into the 20's overnight so we had ice slicks on Monday, but at least they were scattered.  We still have snow on the front lawn of the office building where I work.  It's in the shade all day.  Kinda eerie that it's still there, but temps and high winds have been kinda brutal.  So weird that it's colder now than it was when it was snowing.  Which made it heavy and slushy.  And that's why we have all those iced over spots.

Your school closed for that little of snow?

I know.  Once there was about ten inches of snow up here and my bus had to get stuck before they gave us a two hour delay.  And I have a friend from Syracuse and she finds it extremely funny how people freak out over a couple inches.

Re: Randomness

As I've said before, we are not prepared for it down here since we only get an inch or two a year.  We don't have proper tires, we don't know how to drive in it and we only have enough salt & sand trucks to cover the major highways.  So rather than risk kids' lives the authorities play it safe and call off school.  But most of us still have to go to work.  I actually wrecked my car once trying to get to work.  Hit a huge ice patch and couldn't stop, slammed into a concrete divider.  It ain't fun.

Next times there's a 100 degree plus heatwave with 98% humidity up there where you guys live, I don't wanna hear any whining.  tongue
