Re: 2x19 Trial & Error

Aliens, huh?  Never thought of that one.  I should've.  After all, I am a far out space nut.  OK, so it's some alien breeding experiment!  That explains it!  Thanks.  lol

Aha! One less show I will need to download! smile Not particularly sad about this. I did watch it, but I wasn't crazy about it. Now one of my other shows can take its place.

Hello!

This episode was sad...
Why did Adam do this with Joan?
(He was stupid, sorry.)

I really liked Adam, and it was so bad idea to ruin it... sad

I miss JoA... I love it...

Bye!

Hello Niki and welcome to the boards.

Yeah, why did he do that, that's our big question too. Stupid OC ruined our favorite show. Not funny. sad

Re: 2x19 Trial & Error

Hi Niki,

Are you from Hungary? That's so cool! Another European among us. Welcome to the message board, glad to have you. I kinda miss talking about JoA, but there's so much other stuff that's been going on with Chris lately. We don't know either why Adam had to do what he did. It wasn't like him at all. The network and writers wanted to create more drama for the show, which apparently needed for Adam to cheat on Joan. Very stupid idea! We're all with you on that one.

Yeah, I wish the show would have come back for a third season. Stupid CBS! Stupid Les Moonves! I miss it too.

Hi!

Thanks... smile

JoA made me mad... If I close my eyes, I see Chris. I'm not normal. I wanna hate him (when I hate him I don't love him), but it's not easy. I think it will disappear... I don't know why I'm writing this here. tongue
I hope someone will can help me, to don't be a silly "hen". big_smile :S

And yes, TeeJay, I'm from Hungary (Gyurcsány knows best, who says Hungary is a "bitch country").

Re: 2x19 Trial & Error

I think we understand.  T&E made me wanna slap Adam for his vile misdeed, but it made me want to hug Chris for his amazing acting.  It was so wonderful to finally be able to tell Chris that last October.  And to get my hug.  wink

Oh, you're just as not normal as we are. You're in good company here. LOL (And if I may quote my other favorite show, Roswell, once again: "What's so great about normal?")

I both hate and love Adam--the post-Bonnie Adam. I mean, you wanna hate him for what he did, but you also wanna hug him and just comfort him because he's so unbelievably, heartbreakingly devastated. The pure fact that he does seem to deeply regret his actions and wants to take them all back is just too much for me to not want to hug him. ADAMNEEDSAHUG!

Oh, and once again: We're all silly hens here most of the time. You should feel right at home. smile

Re: 2x19 Trial & Error

There's this discussion going on on the joanofarcadia.com board about this episode and Adam cheating. I posted what Chris said about the episode in October there a while ago, and people are talking a little bit about it. Read:

Re: 2.19 - "Trial & Error" (04/01/05)
It's been almost 2 years later and I've posted on this board before. I got the season 2 DVD for Christmas and have been watching it since. Today I watched Trial and Error. I watched the entire first part of the season trying to see how this led into Adam's actions. I tried to look for a rational reason but the only thing I could come up with was that Adam and Joan had been losing their connection. He felt ignored and unimportant.

This started with Only Connect, where we found out that Adam had been trying to tell himself that Joan wasn't crazy. Joan claimed that she wasn't and was better but Adam was afraid that she wasn't the same.
Then their relationship hit the ups and downs. First Judith's distraction, then her death, the awkwardness that was pointed out by the appearance of the Duffs, Joan kissing her tutor, the concert, and then finally Bonnie. Still, I think that what was written was extreme for the character like the drama was just being created to up ratings.

Maybe, as someone else said on this board, Adam was being controlled by some greater evil. And I really wish we knew this was the case but, sadly since there is not an official season 3, we go without answers. We instead have to make up our own answers since none have been given to us by anyone involved in this.

I know, it's weird to be upset 2 years later but, I was under the impression that Joan of Arcadia had created a character that was different from the ones typically created on shows about teenagers, a character whose relationship with a girl was about love and not about getting in her pants, or anyone else's.

Anyways, I just needed to rant a little.

The "evil" of a network overriding its authors and producers by imposing what they think the show "needs" to "attract demographics" (without giving a thought as to how they might alienate the viewers they already have! sheesh...)

See the wonderful posts elsewhere in this forum of the interview with Chris Marquette in which he acknowledges that the entire cast protested this whole plot turn. Your suspicion that this was simply a ratings ploy, pure and simple, is borne out in that interview.

Re: 2.19 - "Trial & Error" (04/01/05)
Couldn't agree with you more, colorthestars. Like Chris said in that interview we did with him, the network/writers wanted the show to be more like The O.C. So Adam became the cheater to make people heartbroken and create more drama. The fans hated it, but did The Powers That Be care? No. Such a darn shame.

I can see how Adam felt ignored, how their connection wasn't what it used to be, how a wedge started to be stuck in between Joan and Adam. I could have seen them breaking up, but not over Adam cheating on Joan. That is just character assassination par excellence. The Adam they built for us to believe in over one and a half seasons is nothing like the Adam we see in Trial & Error. And I could rant about that for pages and pages too.

I'm just a little sorry for Amber and Chris, that they had to play it like that with all their passion (which they did beautifully) when they both hated that storyline so much. Don't you wanna kick Adam's butt but hug Chris for that great piece of acting he showed us? Amber too, of course. Every time I watch that scene, it makes my gut wrench. And I've seen it countless times. I have a love/hate relationship with this episode, really do.

Yeah, definitely great stuff. And I fully agree here:

Can I just say that the series finale of The O.C. aired this Thursday? No more new O.C. episodes on TV. Hallelujah! Of course we can't do anything about the damage already done at this point.

Actually, this guy is really nice.  His name's Darin.  He PM'd me too.  Don't go over there and yell at him.  His main point was thinking that Bonnie might've been the devil.  I don't agree with that, but it is a rather interesting take on things.  I just PM'd him back.

Re: 2x19 Trial & Error

Well, for me the Devil theory doesn't work anymore. Or actually it never really worked for me. I mean, just because this show had God walking around on earth that doesn't have to mean that there has to be a devil too. But everybody is allowed to have her/his own opinion about that and I am completely okay with that.
