Life On Mars

For purely personal reasons I hope everyone is going to watch the American version of the show (they are definately advertising it alot).  It is actually pretty cool, and has some very nice changes from the British version (although it is very true to the original).

Joan: So, my true nature is to be a catalyst? That is mad anti-climatic.
God: Anti climactic. Anti-climatic means you're against the weather.

Re: Life On Mars

They still haven't shown the US version here on TV. Can I see it anywhere in the web?

Re: Life On Mars

I have the British original series on DVD at home. Not really sure if I wanna watch the new version. *sigh* I still haven't finished season 2 because I'm afraid of what happens at the end.

Re: Life On Mars

Jonthan Murphy posted this on his myspace

ABC cancels 'Life on Mars'
http://www.variety.com/article/VR111800 … yid=14&cs= 1

There won't be "Life on Mars" much longer.
ABC has decided to end the show after a single year - but in an unusual move, will keep "Mars" on the air through the end of its full run.

That will give the series a rare opportunity to sign off with a proper finale, wrapping up the series' core mystery.

Network insiders said they were fans of the show, and pleased with its creative chops - but that the ratings ultimately didn't warrant a second season. The most recent seg of "Mars" averaged just a 2.0 rating and 5 share among adults 18-49, as well as 5.5 million viewers.

Five more episodes of "Mars" remain, out of the series' 17-episode order. As previously announced, "Mars'" Wednesday 10 p.m. slot will make way for newcomer "The Unusuals" in April.

Based on the BBC series of the same name, "Life on Mars" centers on a cop who suddenly, mysteriously finds himself transported back to the 1970s, where the rules are dramatically different. 20th Century Fox TV and ABC Studios produce.

Showrunners Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec and Scott Rosenberg aren't traveling far: They have the Alphabet pilot "Happy Town" in the works.

"Mars" stars Jason O'Mara, Gretchen Mol, Harvey Keitel, Michael Imperioli and Jonathan Murphy.

Originally developed and shot in 2007 under David E. Kelley, "Mars" was re-developed and re-shot after Kelley departed. Under the new showrunners, just O'Mara was kept from the original cast; the show was also retooled to better reflect the U.K. original.

Beyond Appelbaum, Nemec and Rosenberg, exec producers include Stephen Garrett and Jane Featherstone. Kudos Film & TV, which originated the show in the U.K., is also a producer.

Re: Life On Mars

How ironic is it that Cop!Joan will replace Cop!Ronnie?

Re: Life On Mars

Haha.  Pretty ironic.  I didn't even think about that.

And the image of Ronnie attempting to use a gun just popped into my head... GET IT OUT! yikes   A similar image of Joan joined Ronnie, but Joan handling a gun isn't that scary.  You know Papa G taught her a thing or two to keep unwanted boys away.

Re: Life On Mars

I wish one of my shows would last a few seasons(it has been a while). I am doing their new pilot, so maybe that one will go.
