JoA season two on DVD

Guess it's official now. <bounce bounce bounce> big_smile November 28, 2006!

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HW … UTF8&s=dvd

There's next to no info there that we didn't already have. I wish they'd tell us anything about the specials.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

I still hope for some bloopers, but I doubt that we will get them ... they didn't have bloopers on Season 1, why should they put in some bloopers on Season 2.
I also hope for my Amber/Chris Episode Comment on Trial & Error. <sigh>

Re: JoA season two on DVD

Just received an email from tvshowsondvd.com with a few more details on the Season 2 DVD Box bonus material. The mail included this list:

* Audio commentaries on select episodes
* "A Look At Season 2"
* The Making Of Queen Of The Zombies (Yay! This should be interesting!)
* A Tour Of Joan's High School
* "Common Thread: A Table Read"

Don't know what the last thing is supposed to be but it sounds interesting. I'm curious about the Making Of Thing as well. No word on who is doing the commentaries so far, but I still have a little hope for my Chris/Amber comment on Trial&Error.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

Sounds good! Geez, I wish I had the box set already. Two more months.... <sigh>

And, yeah, that episode commentary would be awesome. T&E would be da bomb, but as long as Chris does *any* commentary, I'll be happy. If we get to meet him on the ROTN set (if we ever find out where and when they shoot), we can ask him. smile "Hey, Chris, did you do any episode commentary for the Joan season 2 DVDs?"

Deb said a Table Read is when everyone sits down at a table and they read the script for the first time. That's gonna be totally cool! Just imagine their faces and reactions. Wow. Can't wait for this. Chris wasn't in that episode much, but he should be there along with the rest of the cast.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

Yeah, please ask her. I wanna know what a Table Read is. It sounds kinda like the cast sitting on a table reading the script of the episode or something like that. LOL
And I doubt that there will be a T&E comment, but you're right, as long as Chris does *any* commentary, I'll be happy too. I just love listening to his voice. wink

And please stop talking about "maybe meeting him". I'd be soooo jealous!!! wink

Re: JoA season two on DVD

Yes, a table read is literaly what it sounds like.  It's not the first time the actors read the script, but it is the first time they have a go at it together.  It's the first chance for everyone to hear the dialog spoken out loud.  Mostly, there's a lot of giggling, and some adjustments are made to the script if things aren't really working the way they should.  It will be really fun to see this.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

I've pre-ordered it as well.  I can't wait to see the Making of Queen of the Zombies.  It's one of my favorite JoA eps ever.  Any commentary will be welcome.  This will also give me an excuse to have a marathon and watch the whole show again, in order, with no commercials to break up the story!

Re: JoA season two on DVD

That's what I love about getting my TV shows off the internet: No commercials. smile But, yeah, I'd take any excuse for watching the second season again. I just hope they didn't cut out all the great songs again. I bet they replaced Anna Nalick... hopefully not with something that sucks too much.

I second that. I hate commercial breaks and I also hate when they change the music on the DVDs. Last season they cut out Avril Lavigne's "Tomorrow" from the Pilot, which was sad, because it's one of my favorite songs.

Yeah, I know, but I kinda liked the song they used as a replacement. Too bad we never could find out what the song was. Has anyone tried recently?

Re: JoA season two on DVD

I just want them to include the damn opening credits on every single ep.  The fact that they didn't on the S1 set just really bugged the crap out of me.  The opening of this show is always used as a punctuation mark.  It's like a character unto itself and the eps just don't feel right without it.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

Yeah, it's sad that they cut the opening credits out of the most episodes. The opening credits just belong to the show.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

I understand why they sometimes have to change the music, because it costs so much more to get the rights for a DVD set rather than an aired episode.  Most of the time, I found the music in JoA annoying, because so often it was so loud it seemed intrusive.  I'd rather hear what the characters have to say, than listen to a song that someone thinks represents the scene.  It might help if I knew the music, but aside from a couple of songs by older artists, I didn't like most of it.  But then, my musical tastes are pretty much stuck in the 60s-80s, with one or two exceptions.

I did like the opening credits, though, and the only reason I can think of to cut them was for time (meaning money).  Cheap bastards.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

I think they cut the opening credits also for rights reasons. If they had wanted to use them in every episode, they would have had to pay more for the rights to play the title song more often. But I'm not sure.

Actually, I'm one of the few people that didn't mind the missing title theme. I'm one of those who will fast forward it on shows that I watch regularly when I know it hasn't changed in any way. Yes, a title theme belongs to a show, but I don't have to see it 22 times over the course of a year if I've seen it a couple of times already. But I do admit there are title themes, and then there are title themes. I loved the ER one, that one I almost never got tired of seeing. Well, they have cut that one down to a stump, now with season 13. Seems like Lost and Grey's Anatomy were trend-setters.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

I'm a sucker for killer credit sequences, especially the punctuation kind.  Like The X Files.  You gotta have that in there or it just ain't the same.  And I love the titles for Medium for the same reason.  They use it as punctuation.  Buffy was like that too.  Now there's a credit sequence I never, ever fast-forwarded through.  It was always so cool.  There are some credit sequences that are utterly meaningless and some that are annoying.  JOA's credit sequence is a mini-masterpiece and I just can't stand not hearing the song start up.  And since Chris is in the second season credits, I never get tired of seeing them either.

Yeah, me too. I have to have the credits on the TV shows I like. Without them it's not the same.

I didn't even notice they cut the opening credits in the s1 dvd. That's really weird, I would of thought I'd have noticed. I do like the opening credits...gets me into the programme.

Re: JoA season two on DVD

Exactly, Susanna.  The opening music cue in some programs just pulls you right into that universe. Especially when you really love it. There's nothing like a killer theme with intriguing visuals.
