This is one of the movies that Chris was talking about when Deb interviewed him. I just saw that the theater I usually go to shows it on Monday at 8 PM as a pre-premiere. Official German release date is Feb 15, 2007. It's gonna be dubbed, but since it's a Spanish film, I don't mind. And I went to the official site and checked out the trailer. It looks great. I'm definitely gonna drive out to the theater tomorrow night and watch it. I invited Ralf to come with me, he says he's gonna call me back tonight since he was in a hurry when we spoke.

Cool! Finally a movie I'm looking forward to again. Lately it's all been kinda slow, it's been a while since I saw a movie in the theater that I got excited about. Let's hope this one will be as good as I hope it is.

And why is it that I also missed Children Of Men??? It was released in Nov 2006 in Germany. Sounds so interesting too. Okay, DVD for this one then, I guess...

This is kinda funny, because I wanted to see this movie so bad. And then Chris comes and talks about it! LOL
Ah well, I guess maybe I could ask Alex if he wants to go with me ... he loves movies like that. And if I am nice, maybe he's going to invite me? I'll ask him.

I've been wanting to see this movie for quite awhile! It's hard for me to break away for a movie working 75 hours a week and taking care of a three year old, but I will definitely see it on DVD. Looks like an awesome film. Storywise and visually.

I work two jobs, cuz we're trying to get caught up on bills and all that fun stuff. What really sucks is that I am paid salary at my day job for 40 hours, but I usually work 55-60 a week. It kills me!! I'm like a zombie when I come home. I just got promoted officially at my day job this past friday so I should be able to quit at the airport soon.

Sean, I hope things will work out with the promotion. It's so sad that people need to work two jobs to finance a life. Thank goodness that's not common practice in Germany, but I fear one day we'll end up there as well. What's the world coming to? <sigh> I know that 75 hours a week would just about kill me!

Here are a few thoughts on the movie. First impression? Brutal, but good. I didn't know it was gonna be this brutal, though. R rating in the US, 16 and over in Germany, deservedly so. I'd like to move on to the good things about it, but let me just quickly tell you what made me flinch in my seat: The bottle beating, the leg sawing, the lip stitching. <shudder> Only thing I've seen recently that made me flinch like that was Saw III, and I'm not really that sensitive when it comes to gore on the screen.

Deb, you said you thought the first 30 minutes were a little slow, you almost fell asleep. Not me. I was pretty much drawn into the movie right away. The casting was excellent, the performances too. The effects were great. And creepy. The eyes-in-hands guy was just plain scary. Well, the ending was a little predictable, but that didn't spoil the movie in any way. Not the most excellent movie I've ever seen, but definitely one of the best and most intense ones I've seen recently. What I thought was done very well was the switching back and forth between the real world and the fantasy world. Great imagery.

I'd love to write more, but I need to crash, it's getting late.

Just one last warning: If you're not so good with the gore and violence in movies, you might not want to go watch this one. Or at least close your eyes during the pertinent scenes. But if you want to watch a movie that draws you in and takes you places, this would be the movie to watch. And if you need someone you would love to hate with a passion, you'll find him in this one. I wanted to kill the bast......!!!

Actually my favorite thing in the whole movie was that jerk getting shot in the face. I loved the FX in that bit. The way his eye goes all bloodshot and rolls up into his head. Other than that, interesting movie, but certainly not worthy of all the insanely over-the-top praise it has been getting. At least in my opinion.

Well, maybe I'm going to watch the movie alone now. I wanted to make Alex go with me, but maybe I should go alone. I don't think he would let me watch it. LOL Ah well, depends on if he's going to pay or not.

I went to see it a few weeks ago. So good. The imagery alone would be enough for me to reccomend it, but the story is great as well. Its like an intertwining of the brutal reality of the Franco regime and the fantasy world Ophelia creates/is part of. I would definitely say go see it in the theatres for the "experience" and get the DVD for the extra stuff.

oh, i really wanted to see this movie. and i went to the cinema and the movie did not play becasue it was only me and my friend there.:o
so now i am waiting to see it on my computer. my nephew is supposed to give it to me soon.

They didn't show the movie just for you? That happened to me once, that me and a friend were the only people there, but they still showed the movie. Just for us. That was cool.

That's a shame! I mean, you were paying guests, so why shouldn't they show the movie? Once my brother went to a movie there wasn't even a person and there were already showing some ads on screen. LOL And really NOBODY was there when my brother arrived. :doh:

They always show the movie anyway here, even if there's nobody in the theatre at all. Dave worked in a threatre for years, he can testify to that.

That is crazy. I've actually watched a couple of movies alone or with one or two friends in a theater. It was actually a cool experience. Too bad they wouldn't let ya watch it.

I just now got around to watching this movie a few weeks ago. It was a trip, but had some cool visuals! and Tina, you're absolutely right....you love to hate the "Bad Guy" in this movie!!
