Re: Randomness

I'm getting a tax refund about 244 € which is great because I'm going to attend RingCon in October this year. Yay! :dancing:

Re: Randomness

RingCon, really? Why? Any particular actor you wanna see or just the general experience? Shame the Ring-Stars are not gonna perform this year, otherwise you would have seen my good friend Ralf on stage.

Mostly Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz, and MAYBE Edi Gathegi if I manage to learn how to pronounce his last name without feeling the need to vanish into a hole because it sounds dumb. LOL My friend Becky talked me into it. I didn't really plan to go, but then I thought, well, it could be a cool thing to get the change to meet a few more Twilight actors. But I'm not that crazy about it. LOL

Re: Randomness

I have a bit of a different perspective on that con, mostly because the guy who runs it is an idiot. He had a friend of mine thrown out of his other big con (FedCon) by some Hell's Angels guys (no joke!) simply because my friend Marc is organizing another fantasy con in Düsseldorf this year. The fact that Marc was competition, was enough to throw him out of the hotel's foyer. Marc's musical theatre group Ring-Stars used to be a highlight at the Ring-Con, but Mr. I'm-The-Bestest Dirk B. was too cheap to sponsor hotel rooms for the Ring-Stars guys, so Marc gave him the finger. If you see a "Proll" with lots of tattoos at Ring-Con, making himself look important, that's probably Mr. B.

But, well, that's all politics and you're not involved in that. Hope you have fun. What ticket number did you get? I think that con is huge, they usually have a 4-digit visitor count. If you buy your tickets late, you might end up somewhere far away in the back. The higher your ticket number, the further back your seats are. If it's at Maritim in Bonn, you might also end up on the balcony. And you might not have a good enough number to even get any autographs. I think only a certain number of people are entitled to autographs. FedCon and RingCon are thoroughly organized to the very last detail, and they're not very flexible or relaxed. So all you might get to see of Ashley and Kellan are tiny people on stage in the distance. Also, please don't foster any illusions that you'll get to really talk to these actors other than, "Hi, I loved you in Twilight, can you sign this?". They're usually pretty well protected from the "low folks". But that's probably the worst case scenario. You might get lucky and run into one of these guys in the hotel elevator to exchange a few words, that's been known to happen.

On the other hand, I heard that RingCon this year is having trouble selling tickets, so maybe you're in luck and get a pretty good ticket number. Are you getting the 3-day ticket?

Re: Randomness

I don't care about who runs the con, this is the first and probably even the last time I'll ever go there.
You have to buy vouchers for the autographs and I'm going to buy my ones online before the con. I bought the normal 3 day ticket from some other girl who can't go and had to sell her ticket. I got lucky, because it's number 93.

Also, please don't foster any illusions that you'll get to really talk to these actors other than, "Hi, I loved you in Twilight, can you sign this?".

Like I said, I'm not that crazy about all of that. Of course it would be great to have a chat with those guys, but I'm not really counting on that and I won't be too sad if it's not going to happen. I thought you knew that.
But since I'm not having any kind of holidays this year, I thought I should take that as a chance. You can never know what will happen.

Re: Randomness

Number 93 is pretty good. You should have a great view of the stage, that should be fun. Ralf said you can usually expect between 1000 and 3000 visitors at RingCon, but this year probably more toward 1000.

I thought you knew that.

Am I a mind reader? How would I know what you think?

Any way, let me know how it went. Hope you have great fun. Bonn is a nice city too, maybe you'll get to see some of it. Are you sleeping at the Maritim?

Re: Randomness

The less, the better, I guess. That means I'll have a good chance to get a photoshoot with the guys.
But well, like I already said, I'm not all crazy about it. I'll just go there and see if I'll have a chance. If not, it's okay, too. At least I tried, right?

Re: Randomness

New UFO clip from last Friday:  I'm pretty sure this is a hoax, but it's a pretty cool, spooky clip.  What makes me think hoax is that the object only seems to movie back and forth a little, which usually indicates that it's dangling from some sort of wire.  You'll also notice that it's a wobbly at times.  Usually a dead giveaway...

Re: Randomness

Creepy cloud.

A couple things I noticed.

It appears to be the end of the cloud formation, with the clear sunlight sky behind it. Thus giving the clouds a golden hue.
Looks like major air updraft is occurring on each side of the funnel like structure.
Also looks like two funnel clouds. The foreground one is fairly well structured.
The one right behind it looks like it fell apart and can see a core like structure in the middle of it.

But whatever type of clouds these are, they sure are strange. Almost alien looking.

Re: Randomness

Happy Midsummer day to all.big_smile It's a Finnish holiday. We call it Juhannus. It's the one day in the year when the sun doesn't set at all. The whole june feels the same, just a very late sunset and then it dawns again. No real darkness. It's a huge drinking-party. We had a small family gathering at hubby's uncles place yesterday due to it. 20-30 of his relatives, good food. Kids were with us. I really don't like when people drink with kids around. But i try to stay invicible in parties like that because I don't like growds, so I say nothing. They all behave well when drunk anyways. Wouldn't be the case with my extended family members... roll It was a freaking cold day and I caught a cold so I was willing to leave when the kids bedtime passed. I was driving, didn't feel like drinking anyways. All the other kids were leaving too so after 9pm we went. Hubby stayed there to have fun with his cousins as expected. He always drinks too much when he's celebrating with his cousins. He'll be sleeping until 5pm again and then he'll come home. I sure hope they had fun! smile

My insomnia is back. Or I guess it never cured, it's just been better for a while. Into bed at 11pm or midnight, but I've still been tired as hell for weeks. It's worse now. Hubby's staycation is busting my day rhythm and it's really hard to get any sleep before midnight. For a week now I've only fallen asleep at 3am. Hubby lets me sleep in most mornings, which is nice. But when he lets me sleep until afternoon it wrecks the rhythm even worse. And no matter how much I sleep, i'm always tired. Last night it took 'till 5am to catch sleep. Always tough when hubby's not home for the night. I'm tired as hell but I guess I should take the boys out to enjoy the sunshine. there finally is some of that. big_smile
