Movie

Is it completely 100% out of the question? They are remaking all these movies and I think they should leave them be and making a Joan of Arcadia movie.

Re: Movie

I wish.  Barbara Hall gets asked that all the time and she usually says something like she'd like to do something, but just doesn't have anything in mind specifically.  I don't think anything is ever completely out of the question.  We can always hope.

And keep reading/writing fan fiction.  wink

Re: Movie

Lol, man that would be a dream come true if they made it, theres gotta be a thousand writers out there with a million ideas, hopefully in time someone comes up with an idea that blows Hall away. Most of the actors can pull off any age, they could do college or even older..

They could do something like Joan hasn't been contatced in years and then something major is a/b to go down so God contacts her and notifies her or hints at it and she has to find Adam and Grace and together they stop the disaster? Idn, it can go in any direction....

Re: Movie

Yeah, they really could do a lot of stuff.  I almost wish BH would write some JoA novels or something.  Then it doesn't matter about the actors.

Re: Movie

Yea.. but would it really be the same without Amber and Chris? The writing would be magical of course but still they bring the words to life and give everything a new meaning.

But yea novels would still be pretty great.

Re: Movie

Well, they are very alive for me in our ongoing "novel", Butterflies.  Of course I have them so solidified in my head after watching them for so many years and meeting them that I can't not see and hear them when I read/write our stuff.  Maybe it's just because I'm so deep into the fic that I could be OK with a novel.  Unfortunately, a movie would not have time to cover what I personally would want --- getting Adam & Joan back together.  I care so much less about God or Joan's "assignments" than I do about my 'ship that I'm probably not even the right person to be giving an opinion about this idea.  LOL!

Re: Movie

Lol I think they could get back together and also have an assignment... for me tho I would love a movie with just Joan and Adam looking at each other and telling each other how they feel, pure romance, it should end with them getting married.

Re: Movie

Read Butterflies and you'll get your happy ending.  We even have a graphic version of some of the early chapters with pics that TeeJay photoshopped masterfully to age them a little.  Want a link?

Here's the link, just in case.  I wish we'd had time to do more on the graphic version, but life got in the way, ya know?

The story itself goes on for a long time after the graphic version ends...

Re: Movie

Are you talking about a movie that goes to theaters? Quite frankly, I can't see a JoA movie being something the general public would be interested in. And I think it's a little too late now to start producing a TV movie, four years after the show was cancelled. Is it out of the question? Of course not. It's just that I personally think it's extremely unlikely that it's going to happen.

Since the actors have all grown up, they would have to move the story forward a few years to make it believable. How are they going to wrap up the Ryan Hunter story that way? (Well, at least Wentworth Miller isn't shooting Prison Break anymore now...)

I like the way we handled the Ryan Hunter story --- just pretend it never happened.  tongue

Re: Movie

THAT is what I really want.  I want to see them in another movie, preferably in a romantic situation, but I'll take most anything at this point.  They have wonderful chemistry.  He was almost in Normal Adolescent Behavior, but the producers didn't think anyone wanted to see Adam and Joan in an orgy.  LOL!  I said, "Bring it on!"

Re: Movie

It should be in my post office tomorrow but actually it's disc 6 and then disc 1 and 2 of the second season. I'll look forward to having a good cry, I've never cried as much on any tv show as I do on JoA.

Re: Movie

Ah, well, hold off on Butterflies until you're done with the season.  Use it to cheer yourself up.  But remind me before you start and I'll give you links to the prequels.  There's 3 of them.  Little short ones.

O ok, I'll let you know when I finish the season, and prequels sound great and so does Butterflies, thanks! Can I ask why you named it Butterflies?

Re: Movie

I'll have to let TeeJay answer that.  She wrote a one-off (LOL!) story and that was the name of it.  Adam turns to Joan in a time of need 5 years after the Very Bad Thing.  It was really sad and really sweet and I loved it.  So I wrote a sequel.  And then she wrote a sequel to that and I wrote a 4th chapter and we just couldn't stop.  We haven't written a proper chapter in a long time, but we've done a lot of little Butterflies vignettes.  It's a universe that I adore and just have to revisit once in a while.

The Gift is AWESOME!  I adore that ep.  I've seen it so many times.  I've also read the script.  I can send that that once you've seen it if you want.  I also have Jump, if you want to read that. There's a few bits here and there that were deleted from Jump and also I love seeing how the looks and the touches between Adam and Joan were not scripted.  It was just Chris and Amber really understanding their characters and  having great chemistry.  I loved talking about that with Chris.

Re: Movie

Yes Plz Plz do... I cried so much during Jump, for me if I cry during a show it's a show that will be with me and that I'll never forget, it really just moves me. Their interactions are (how can you even describe it) it's just off the wall mesmerizing. I would have loved to have been there during filming, it would have been magical, I bet the other writers and Barbara Hall were just speechless.

Re: Movie

I bet they were speechless in that kitchen scene.  I think it's one of the best scenes ever filmed for television.  I'll email it to you right now.  I recommend watching the ep, then reading the script while it's fresh in your mind.  You'll see exactly what I mean about so much of it not being on the page but between those actors.  And you'll get some expansion on a couple of key scenes.  It just makes me admire Chris and Amber so much more, knowing what they brought to it.
