I hope you like it, but I'm guessing you will. Lots of torturous Chris substitute agony wtih a bit of tear duct action. Wish we could have seen it on the screen.

I also just finished my seminar. Will go home in a few minutes.

Re: American Gun

I had a quick look on my new AG DVD last night before I went to bed.
Tina, you're nuts. When I unpacked the package and saw the DVD I almost thought you bought a second copy. Woohoo! The inlay you made for the case just rocks!!! And guys, it was so great to be finally able to watch my favorite performance in good sound and picture quality! I watched that Making of special, which was kind of okay and afterwards I watched my two favorite scenes of the movie. Now guess which ones! LOL

You're welcome, glad you liked the cover. I had a few of those DVD cases lying around, so I thought I'd give you the movie in a proper DVD case that you can put next to your other DVDs. And of course I had to make the cover look like it wasn't just a (shhhh!) copy. smile I had fun with the little Chris inlay thing. I'll post that here some time, but I only have it on my other computer.

So, Anne.... you gonna write an AG synopsis for the site some time? <nag nag nag>

I'll do it probably on Monday when my parents are at work. I wanna watch it from the Television, not from the comp and I also need privacy to watch the movie. You can't watch a movie like this with having people around you, especially if they are your parents. At least I can't. roll
I also wanted to "polish" my TTC synopsis a little and maybe start the recaps of JA and BP. There's so much to do. LOL

Re: American Gun

Well, the movie is pretty unknown here. Did I tell you already that my brother Alex's girlfriend is a big fan of Donal Sutherland? She was very surprised when I presented her my American Gun DVD. She didn't know about that movie at all. But since she was okay with it being English, I lend it to her. I hope she'll like it.

Re: American Gun

Go here for more on the Spirits:
http://spiritawardsonifc.bside.com/

They're coming up this Saturday and Chris said he was going to try to go to support AG.  Hope he can make it.

I will obviously try to catch the Red Carpet arrivals on WE because I have that channel.  But I don't have IFC so I'll have to wait for the edited rebroadcast on AMC later.  I'll let you guys know immediately if I spot Waldo Marquette.  wink

Re: American Gun

This is kinda hard for me, because I want both Amber Tamblyn and Marcia Gay Harden to win. sad
Then again, I haven't seen Amber's film yet, so I tend to support Marcia in the first place. And why didn't they nominate Chris for Best Supporting Male? He certainly would have deserved that. (Then again, Paul Dano's also nominated - that would have been a conflict for me too ...) roll
I just hope whoever wins the Award, deserves it.

Re: American Gun

Our cable channels got scrambled around recently and I no longer have WE, so I won't be able to tape the Red Carpet arrivals for the Independent Spirit Awards today.  And I won't be able to see the award show either until it repeats on AMC probably later in the week or next weekend.  sad

Re: American Gun

INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS REPORT:

OK, so the Spirits repeat is on AMC right now.  No sign of Chris so far.  But I didn't get to see the Red Carpet arrivals show.

One thing I love about this show is how laid back it is.  It's in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica.  It's two o'clock in the afternoon on a sunny southern California afternoon.  I've been exactly there.  Had a wonderful meal at Patrick's Roadhouse, across the street from the area they're set up in.

The Supporting Female category just came and went.  Marcia looked really elegant.  But you guys should see Amber!  She looked absolutely stunning.  Well, I'm sure we can get some Wire Image pics.  All I can think about is 22-year-old Joan.  Wow!  Oh, the clip from her movie was great, too.  For Marcia, they showed the scene where she's in the street arguing with the neighbors.

Marcia and Amber were beaten out by Frances McDormand.  Also, Paul Dano was beaten out for Best Supporting Male by his co-star, Alan Arkin (father of Adam Arkin, who's in Graduation, BTW).

LOL, Anjelica Huston (from Huff) is presenting the John (Nick's dad) Cassavetes Award.  This show is full of connections to Chris.  Ha, here's another one, sort of --- they're giving the Special Distinction Award to David Lynch & Laura Dern for their work together.  Chris was reading Lynch's book about creativity at the FX Show.  Man, Chris really would've enjoyed this show if he didn't actually gone.  I hope he did!

OK, here's another one, the Best Feature nominee, The Dead Girl stars Marcia Gay Harden and Mary Steenburgen.  Marcia introduced this one.  They also have these really funny little song parodies about each film nominee (I wish you could hear the one about Pan's Labrynth) and this one's being sung by Loretta DeVine, who was a regular on Boston Public.  Makes me wonder if Amber saw her former costars in their nominated movies.  Hmmm.

If Chris was there, he was probably sitting with Marcia, but they just refuse to show who else is at her table.  It's very frustrating.

OK, Linda Cardellini introduced AG.  She looked awesome too!  Aric Avelino was sitting beside her.  None of Chris's great work was featured in the clip, just Janet talking about David to the reporter and the shot of him rolling down the street on his skateboard.

Then Neil Patrick Harris sang the parody, with a gun in each hand and blood on his arms that got on his face and clothes as he sang.  Eeeewwwwwww!!!!  Also, kinda lame.

Little Miss Sunshine won for Best Director and Best First Screenplay.  Really gotta see that movie.

Ryan Gosling beat Forest Whitaker for Best Male Lead.  Saw that coming a mile away.   He gave the best speech of the night too.  Love this kid, man.  Can't wait to see the movie.

Little Miss Sunshine won Best Feature!  Cool.  Also saw that coming a mile away.  I'm so happy for the movie.

Ah, finally a shot of the American Gun table.  Nope, no Chris.  Damn.  He would've had a good time, seeing all his friends and people he admires.  Bummer.  Still a good show though.

And I got to see Ben Harper and Heath Ledger looking fine.  tongue

Re: American Gun

Well, maybe Chris wasn't there after all. Could be he's shooting that TV guest role we're all hoping for. Haha, dream on... wink

Sorry to hear that AG didn't win any of the awards, I'd like to think they would have deserved at least one. But since I haven't seen any of the other movies/actors that were nominated, I can't really judge. And why did I have the feeling they'd show the scene for Marcia in the street, like you said? I think it was one of the first online clips we saw from the movie too, back in the day. Shame that Chris's great work wasn't featured. But he'll get his chance one of these days.

Re: American Gun

Thanks for that report. I bet Amber looked gorgeous. I have to have a look at the amtam forum, maybe someone posted pictures there already. I'll look later.
I have to admit, I'm kinda happy that neither Marcia nor Amber won. But it's still a pity. And yeah, it's a shame that they didn't show more of his work. I really hope he'll get his chance soon, too. He certainly deserves it.

Re: American Gun

I just went through the 17 pages of red carpet arrival photos at Wire Image. No sign of Chris, so he either wasn't there or they didn't take a picture of him. Amber, Marcia and Linda Cardellini looked great. I almost didn't recognize Heath Ledger. The mustache? Dude, not working! What is it with men and their facial hair? Paul Dano also had a weird hair style. If you thought Sam Huntington at the FX con looked like mother-in-law's darling, then Paul did so on the double. wink I'll give you that Ryan Gosling looked great, though. Didn't see any pics of Mary Steenburgen.

Re: American Gun

Didn't I tell you?  What a knockout!  Thanks for locating a pic.

Mary wasn't there.  I just said a movie she and Marcia were in was nominated.  I didn't mean to give the impression that she was at the show.  Sorry if that was confusing.  I hope more pics of Amber show up online.  I need to save those for Butterflies inspiration.
