Is it like a safety inspection or something?

If so, then many cars around here wouldn't even pass that.
There are cars on the road here that looks like they are ready to fall apart. Some look like they are composed of junk yard parts, different color doors, trunk or hood. Cars without bumpers.

Here too.  This morning I saw one with a dented front end and no hood.  The paint was also all chipped off and it sat lopsided on it's base.  I couldn't believe it was even running!

Re: Randomness

Yeah, it's an annual inspection for safety and to make sure the car isn't breaking any laws (like window tints being too dark).  My dad's car before he got married to my mom was apparently in shambles, holes in the floor and stuff like that.  He flat out skipped inspection and eventually got his car taken away from him.  Something as small as a flat tire will make you fail inspection though, and if that happens, they charge you outrageously to fix.  If not, you can't take the car.

A lot of cars around here are two or three different colors.  It doesn't matter if all the parts match colorwise, just as long as it's all parts from the same make/model and year as the original car.  My cousin had a car that was half bright red and half green.  It was kind of hilarious.

That looks way cool. I, for one, would welcome superior beings/aliens at this point. Maybe they are going to come to ask what the Hell the deal is with Sarah Palin :puke:

Re: Randomness

This little guy is the #4 search on Yahoo today.  Yesterday, there was an article about how they found 350 species in the Himalayas that they didn't know were there.  But they posted it with a pic of flying frog.  No one wanted to see the stupid frog!  Everyone wanted to see the tiny deer.  And here he is, the Leaf Muntjac...

Re: Randomness

Cute little deer.

When I was a little kid I once saw a flying squirrel. The only time I ever saw one. It was so neat to see it "fly" from one tree to another.

One thing I've noticed is that I don't see many lightning bugs anymore. When I was younger there were all over the place. Now I don't even see them anymore. I wonder if it has to do with all the chemicals they spray on their lawns around here.

Nor do I see any red-winged blackbirds either.
Nor toads either.

Re: Randomness

We've had a ton of lightning bugs this year.  Sometimes, I'll be walking past my kitchen windows in the evening and I'll glimpse one out of the corner of my eye and then I'll inevitably get stuck watching them for a while.  Brings back childhood memories.

The coolest squirrels I ever saw were the big, mean looking red squirrels on Mt. Graham in Safford, AZ...

squir1l.jpg

http://ag.arizona.edu/research/redsquirrel/main.html

They seemed to be prairie dog-sized.  And they'll just look at you and don't run away, from people on foot or in cars.  The Apache and the red squirrel have been thorns in the Vatican's side out there in Safford ever since they began contruction of their observatory...

I don't know whether or not it was as public news across the world as it was in Aus. but Sam, the koala that survived the bushfires has died sad They plan to have her displayed in the Melbourne Muesum for all to remember the bushfires. It was such a tragic time and this image was one of hope that people clung to. Just wanted to post this in her memory and the memory of others that lost lives, loved ones, homes, and belongings in those fires.

I don't know, I don't think I'd let any of the Manson Family out of jail.  Even the one who's dying.  I understand that there are gray areas, I just don't feel right about it.  Just me personally.  Glad it's not up to me.

Well, she wasn't part of the killings (there were a lot of members of the "family" who weren't involved) and she didn't actually shoot President Ford.  And considering Hickley who actually shot President Reagan and 3 other people has been out for at least 10 years, I guess it is legitimate to let her out.  But then I wouldn't really want to be around her.

Re: Randomness

Hinckley's not actually out, is he?  I remember hearing all these stories about how he gets all these furloughs all the time to go home and see his family, but I could've sworn he was still in the loony bin.  Unless I missed something, which is possible.

Re: Randomness

Granted this is Wiki, so I don't know how trust-worthy it is, but...

On June 17, 2009 a federal Judge ruled that Hinckley would be given the ability to visit his mother for nine days at a time, rather than six, spend more time outside of the hospital, and even have a driver's license. This was done over the objections of the prosecutors who said that he was still a danger to others and had unhealthy and inappropriate thoughts about women.

Re: Randomness

You're right, I guess I didn't remember it quite right.  I just remembered the big hubbub.  But he does go out, and in the end, he is probably more dangerous (I'm sure Jodie Foster thinks so).  In the end, I would have a big problem if Manson or any of the killers were to be released, but Fromme has probably done enough time.
