Re: Randomness

Spiders feel crispy in teeth and taste like burned rubber. That's a fact. 15 minutes ago my 2,5yo showed me his finger, covered in icecream and little chocobits; and shoved it in my mouth. It wasn't chocolate. Oh, the joys of parenthood! big_smile

Re: Randomness

It's was freshly killed by my boy. He had pressed it with his finger strong enough to make the legs mush into the body, making it look like a chocolate chip.  He looked all proud grinning at me. Like a man that just brought dinner home. But maybe I just won't change my diet to that direction... The thing was big to our standard spiders, like 0,5 long... eww, I still get the gag reflex...

Re: Randomness

Today's horoscope couldn't seem more apropos...

If you are holding a steering wheel, it helps to know which road you're on. Even if you are sitting in a passenger seat, a map can be useful. You can at least talk to the driver and discuss alternative routes. But what if you are on a train or a plane? Why track the journey then? For now, you are on board a vessel that, whether you like it or not, is only going to one place. Just let it take you there. It's a good place... and it's an inevitable place. So relax. You can consider more options when there are more options to consider.

Thanks. You know, it's actually not all that difficult. Of course a lot depends on what equipment you have, but what matters the most is that you know how to make use of the equipment you have. If you're interested in photography, it helps a great deal if you know the basics about how a camera works; if you know how shutter speed and exposure time work together and what effects you can create by manipulating either or both. There is no way around reading up on some of that if you really want to aspire to become a better photographer. What's also important is that you need to get a feeling for what would be a good frame to capture on camera, which is also something you can train. It also helps if you know how to do image editing. smile

Very cool, indeed. When we were in Utah a few years back, the ATM could dispense cash, etc. in a language called  "HMOOB," which was a new one on me. Its apparently an Asian language.

Re: Randomness

Hee.  My intro to Cockney rhyming slang came in about 1979 when I saw the Alderton & Collins Britcom, No, Honestly! for the first time.  Clara was always mangling it and C.D. could never figure out what she was trying to say.  It was HIGHlarious.

I remember an episode of "The Young Ones" where Rik thought one of his roommates was dead (trust me, it was VERY funny!).  And he went around the house wailing, "Neil, Neil!  Orange peel..."

That was a nifty show. I have always liked Pauline Collins, and am pleased to see that she still is working regularly, though I haven't seen her in much since Shirley Valentine. She apparently has a part in the next Woody Allen film.

Re: Randomness

Hey, thanks for the heads-up on the Woody movie, Shell!  I didn't know that.  I just completed my collection of Wodehouse Playhouse eps a few weeks back.  She's not in the 3rd series, but John is so it's still good.  I've adored John and Pauline every since No, Honestly! and try never to miss anything they do that makes it to the US.  I'm still dying to see their series, Forever Green.  I haven't seen The Ambassador either.  I could get that one through Acorn, I'm just waiting for the price to come down a bit.

Carol also helped me complete my Upstairs, Downstairs and Thomas & Sarah collections on DVD, so I'm blissfully happy about that.  Even got all the "Lost" UP eps and the 25 year reunion show.  big_smile
