Someone told me about another new hospital show, Three Rivers. Pilot aired yesterday and I watched it today. Can't say I like it much either. Just a little too modern for my taste. I like the gritty stuff that feels real, and not some super modern hi-tech hospital that doesn't exist in real life and doctors that are like saints (which also don't exist in real life). I mean, seriously, I've spent enough time in hospitals this summer (thankfully only as visitor), and what I experienced there couldn't have been less like what they showed on Three Rivers. I want ER back!
Okay, I'll stop whining now. Guess I'll just stick to the the two new shows I liked so far, Flash Forward and Trauma. And of course keep watching my other shows that didn't get cancelled or ended.

Flash Forward & Three Rivers were the two shows I was most looking forward to this season. I liked the second ep of FF better than the first one. John Cho was so adorable near the end of it.
And I haven't been able to get Three Rivers out of my head all day. But that's probably because of my pathetic girl-crush on Kate Moennig. I'll be watching this one faithfully until its canceled. I really don't see how it can succeed, which is sad. But at least I get to see Kate for a while before that happens.
So far, I gotta say my favorite new show overall is Mercy.

She reminded me a lot of Jorja Fox, not only visually.

Guess we'll be watching different shows this season. Except for the usual suspects such as Grey's and PP. I liked 1x02 of Flash Forward too, I will definitely keep watching.

She was on ER a long time ago and one of the main cast of CSI: until about season six or seven. Did you see Memento? She played the wife, though I don't think you see her much.
Not sure if this'll work. If not, go here: http://gallery.jorjafox.net/tv/er/seaso … 4.jpg.html

Uh, no, I see no resemblance beyond the superficial "they're both girls with dark hair" thing. But whatever.

I only recognise her through CSI. But loving Flash Forward as my favourite must watch series of the newbies. Considering Mercy is on straight after I am thinking that will be a fantastic night in. Though I am extremely frustrated that it will be competing against The Mentalist. I am thinking I will have to record one and watch the other!

I think it was more Kate Moenning's voice and the way she behaved as her character that reminded me of Jorja. Not that it really matters, I'm not a big fan of Jorja, and Kate's character didn't stand out for me either. I don't think I connected with any of the Three Rivers characters.

Kate's character hasn't had much of a chance yet. BTW, they swapped the pilot for the second ep for some reason so what we saw Sunday night was ep #2. I wonder if the pilot might've done a better job introducing the characters and concepts. Still, I doubt that many people would see the show and become instant Kate fans. I'm just beyond thrilled to see her playing a character so far removed from Shane on The L Word, or anything else she's done for that matter, so I'm willing to stick with it to the end. Although her hair was a little too poofy in ep 2.

PS: AICN has posted some ratings for last week and Three Rivers came in dead last. I had a feeling it wouldn't be long for this world. Bummer.

So I just went and saw The Invention of Lying.. over all a very funny movie that I plan on getting once it come out on DVD.
I do admit though, the middle did drag out a bit and there may be a need for tissues a time or two, but all and all a very enjoyable romantic comedy

I was watching the movie "Stay" on DVD tonight. I had seen it in theaters, back in the day, but I didn't remember much about it (except for that during the whole movie you kept trying to figure out what was going on). I liked it a lot on the second viewing too, even though it still leaves you unsatisfied at the end. I thought it was beautifully shot, and it's the kind of movie you can watch multiple times and always notice new nuances and details. Had an excellent cast, too. But I can also see how it's not a movie for everybody. It broke the mold in more than one way. Certainly not your conventional broad-masses type of film.

I watched Three Rivers for the first time tonight, but I only caught about half the episode cause I was working. Anyway, my opinion of it kind of parallels TeeJay's. I might be a little biased, because I wanted to see more of Pittsburgh on the screen other than crappy computer generations of the skyline. As much as I loved the references to Primanti's, Iron City, and the Steelers, it just didn't mesh well.
Like TeeJay said, I found it really unrealistic. UPMC is one of the top transplant hospitals in the world, and I'm guessing that Three Rivers is loosely based on UPMC because of the layout of the hospital, but the technology just made everything unreal to me.
And the hill that Andy lives on, I'm guessing is supposed to be Mount Washington, in which case the geography is all wrong. He said it was right across the Monongahela River I won't go into street directions and everything, but if they were looking at Mt. Washington from a right-hand angle (judging by the camera angle) and the Mon Incline wasn't visible, they would be on the Allegheny River, not the Mon. Not to mention it would be physically impossible to have a hospital smack in the middle of all the rivers without getting a majority of the patients boated in.
And now I'm done whining.

I figured out why they switched the second with the first ep watching tonight. Easily. Ep 2 showcased Yoblonski more. The pilot was more about Miranda. But somebody at CBS got cold feet. They decided to start the show's run focusing on the guy. Doesn't really matter since the show is going away soon anyway. As for geographical inaccuracies, they never get Atlanta right. Ever. Though the cute Asian guy intrigues me, in my opinion Kate Moennig is the only reason to see this one through to its inevitably quick end.

Thank you, ABC, because for the Flash Forward episode last week they indeed used "real" Germans that spoke real German. Not sure if the Munich skyline was real or CGI, though. I've been to Munich once or twice, but I don't know the city well. However, I'm pretty sure that there isn't any prison in Munich that's called "Qualen" because that's the plural of the German word for "tortute". That would be a little too in-your-face.

The only reason the geography bugged me is because Andy told Miranda that it was the Mon, not the Allegheny. She was right, he was wrong.

Didn't she sort of have a grin on her face that said she knew she was right and he was wrong?

Looks like Helen Hunt may replace Maura Tierney in Parenthood after she dropped out to deal with her cancer fight. Best wishes, Maura! Bring on Helen!
Looks like they went with Lauren Graham, instead. I'm sorry we won't be seeing HH on a regular series again. I guess with all of the delays, they couldn't pay an Oscar winner's salary. Lauren Graham is terrific, though. I hope the show does well.

Well if the movie IS jinxed, I'll bet that'll be the last time they make a series out of a 20-year-old movie, that's already been a failed series!

Yeah, it's definitely a weird idea. But not as weird as ABC trying to resurrect Cupid.
