He really was. I'm a few years too young to remember his kid's show, but of course I've seen that very famous clip. I grew up watching him on game shows.

I don't remember it, either. Honest! But he did one infamous prank one New Year's Day. He was horribly hung over but was required to be in early that morning to do his show. He told all the kids that Mommy & Daddy were sleeping late, so they should go into their purses and wallets and take out all the cash and mail it to him, care of the studio. Which they did! :rofl: He was nearly fired and (I think) got into all kinds of hot water with the FCC. Since most of the "donations" were sent without return addresses they were unable to return a lot of it, so I think it was donated to charity. But there were so many complaints that the studio suspended him.
