Re: Randomness

So so soooooooooo awesome! Last night went and saw KissChasy with my brother. Such a good show and I was standing one person back from the front. The lead singer jumped down and was in the crowd so I got to stand right next to him and GAH! so awesome. I tried to get a photo but he was moving past too quickly. I did however manage to catch the drumstick that was thrown into the crowd at the end of the show. Oh it was amazing. So happy I went. I have posted a photo of the concert i took in the music thread.....

Re: Randomness

I'm coughing my lungs out here. Throat is very dry... I'm sure it's justa cold again, and the kids have it too. Probably because our bedrooms are pretty cold this time of year the kids always kick off their duvets.

But I'm really starting to be scared of this hogflu thing now. Before it was like this far waway thing that didn't really touch me. But couple of days ago there was a news article that it has reached Lapland too. And yesterday I learned someone I know actually has it. Suddenly it's very close and scary. Hubby's mom was talking about the hogflu-vaccine and how she thinks she's not gonna get it, because usually they research the vaccines for years before reliesing them and this one is coming to use so quickly. She fears it may cause more trouble than good.

I know it's very unlikely for me to get it since I don't actually socialize a lot. I just go grosery-shopping and out with the kids. I could get it thru Rebekka's school or Janne's work, but how likely is that.. I really hope we dodge this one and the authorities find a way to kill this thing as soon as possible. Part of me is thinking diceases like this are just nature's way to control the over population of this planet, but still; it's awful to hear people are dying. Kids are dying...

Re: Randomness

Where the swine flu is concerned, I think these days pretty much every one of us can get it. All it takes is getting contact with someone at the supermarket. We apparently had two cases in our company a while ago. Ever since then we get our cutlery at the cafeteria handed out (before, we could just take it from huge metal boxes) and we have hand sanitizer in every toilet now and are encouraged to use it.

My mom just asked me yesterday if I think it's "necessary" to get vaccinated. I have to say, I don't know. It probably is if you work in a job or have a hobby where you come into contact with different people a lot or if you suffer from a condition that might put you at risk if you catch the flu. "Normal" people who got infected with the version that's currently floating around seem to recover fine from it.

Just yesterday someone told me that in Germany they don't even test you for the virus anymore because the Robert Koch Institue (institute in Germany who analyzes the tests) is so swamped that they don't accept any more samples. Also, in Germany they're said to only have enough vaccine for approx. half the inhabitants of the country, so not everyone can get vaccinated anyway. If I was offered vaccination, I would probably do it, but I won't go out of my way to look for a doctor who will vaccinate me. Though I probably would be entitled because I have allergic asthma...

Re: Randomness

Yeah, they arent testing for it in Australia anymore either...if it helps any I had it and I am alive and well. Though I think the Australian strain may have been a milder case. I was pretty much bed ridden for 3 days but other than that I got over it like you do any other flu. It didnt feel particularly worse than any other flu. I guess it was just easier to catch. Half the people in my office caught it and a bunch of friends at uni had it before I did and I think that is where I caught it. Everyone just seemed to be knocked out for abit but got over it. Only one person that I knew of had to be admitted to hospital with the swine flu, he got some fluids put back into him and he was sent home fine. I really hope you feel ok Maria. No matter what the disease is being sick is no fun!

Re: Randomness

From everything I've read, it seems to be worse for people under 25 and even worse than that for kids.  So if I had kids, I'd get them vaccinated.  But myself, personally, I don't do the seasonal flu vaccinations because they always made my mother sick so I figured they might make me sick too.  Plus, you hear all the horror stories about the garbage that's in vaccines.  Right now, I don't really come into contact with that many people on a daily basis, so I'm not all that worried.

Re: Randomness

Ok I think I may have just agreed to a date without realizing it. HAHAHA yes I am that dopey. Irish guy John that I met on Friday night. It was that whole, when are you free? awesome we should catch up. After work tonight? great I will sms you later this arvo with the details. And then I got off the phone and was like wait...was that a date? I guess I will find out later tonight. I am utterly clueless when it comes to this stuff!

Swine flu really wasnt all that bad. I keep hearing about it  and how terrible it is and all I can think is, Well I had it and I am ok. If you have had the flu before and been bed ridden with it for a few days...its was basically the same thing. Talking to others that have had it too though, it appears to be more dry than other flus and the headaches were the worst part about it. The cough tends to hang around a few days after but its nothing to panic about. *shrug* I was just glad that noone else in my family caught it.

At a certain part in your life. Probably when too much of it has gone by. You will open your eyes and see yourself for who you are. Especially for everything that made you so different from all the awful normals.

Thanks, Shell.  But I only want it if it's the right place for me to be.  And I won't know that till I go over there and vibe it out.

I'll be crossing all fingers and toes that it's a) the right place for you and b) you'll get the job if a) = yes.
