"Words of Amber"

At a certain part in your life. Probably when too much of it has gone by. You will open your eyes and see yourself for who you are. Especially for everything that made you so different from all the awful normals.

Re: "Words of Amber"

Great article!  And I would agree with every word the writer said about her poetry.  In fact, I'd like to quote the blurb on the back from Amy Poehler because it's perfect...

"Amber Tamblyn's writing is funny, thick, mean, strong, vulnerable, trippy and true.  Every poem is a delicious surprise, like a plate of mac and cheese with a hundred dollar bill inside."

Re: "Words of Amber"

I have never eaten Mac 'n Cheese in my entire life. Years ago, I was at Bible Camp when I was an impressionable kid, and Mac 'n Cheese was one night served for dinner. I refused to eat it, and had my "tuck shop" privileges taken away for one day. A counselor told me, "Jesus would want you to eat the Mac 'n Cheese," to which I replied "Jesus can have mine, 'cause I am not going to eat this..."

Re: "Words of Amber"

What did you have against mac & cheese?  If done right, it's one of the best things ever invented.

Re: "Words of Amber"

I dunno. I just have never really cared for mac 'n cheese, and still have not eaten it.

Re: "Words of Amber"

OK, now I get to sound like a mom.  How do you know you don't care for it if you've never tried it?  You like cheese, right?  You like pasta...?

Re: "Words of Amber"

As far as I can recall, my Mum was also not fond of mac 'n cheese. My siblings, who liked it, presumably made it for themselves. I do like cheese & pasta, so maybe I should give it a try.

Just don't eat something out of a box.  Go to your favorite "home cooking" type restaurant and get it.  Then you'll understand why it's something many of us adore as comfort food.  smile

Re: "Words of Amber"

Stouffer's makes a really good boxed, frozen version.  Get the red box, not the green & white Healthy Choice.  And cook it in the oven, don't nuke it.  It makes a difference.  You don't get the crispy stuff on top in a microwave!

Re: "Words of Amber"

The Healthy Choice version is pretty good, too, actually.  But you want the Full artery clogger for your first Mac & Cheese experience!:P

Yeah, I read those. roll  There is a certain type of person who, given a forum and anonymity, will be as rude and asinine as they can possibly be.  I really can't think why anyone would have strong opinions about Ms. Tamblyn's orthodontia.  Or think that anyone would care what they think about it.

Re: "Words of Amber"

It was pretty rude, I thought.  But I think it got deleted.  Maybe that was the comment of someone who had the sensibilities of a pig. big_smile  I seriously doubt that most of those who commented negatively on her poetry have actually read any of it.

Is Ulysses someone from here?  If not, it is interesting that Chris came up.

Re: "Words of Amber"

I didn't read any of the comments.  I've read enough garbage spewed at her on IMDb.

Re: "Words of Amber"

I have so many people on my IMDB "Ignore" list that it takes a minute or two to scroll through 'em all.

Re: "Words of Amber"

I only have two people on mine.  A former friend who went kinda batshit on me earlier this year.  And some weirdo I've never heard of in my life who SPAM PM'd me out of the blue with a bunch of religious garbage about "the pill" being murder last week.  Most of the other idiots I've encountered, I just skip over their posts.

I got the same SPAM PM, so I added that loony to my ever-expanding "Ignore" list.

I even have reviews posted on IMDB, under "therealshell," if you care to kill some time reading 'em.

Great article and pictures of Amber. I think the haters should shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
