That was my 4000th post

I don't like it.

It is very annoying, indeed.
At a certain part in your life. Probably when too much of it has gone by. You will open your eyes and see yourself for who you are. Especially for everything that made you so different from all the awful normals.

Awesome. Now, let's see how fast you can get to 5000.

Judging by how fast I went from 3000 to 4000, not very.

I didn't log on for about 4 hours and I had 300+ new items in the live feed. All those stupid friend notices. Who cares? You're supposed to be able to block them, but it won't work for me.

And while we're ranting, can someone explain to me what's so cool about Twitter? Or about synchronizing your Twitter updates with your MySpace or Facebook? Laura, you're wondering why you have 300+ unread updates on Facebook in 4 hours? Well, it's because your friends are tweeting every half hour that they just had a sandwich for lunch, that they are going shopping now, that they need to clean up their apartment but hate doing chores, that their computer just crashed (again), that they're tired and need to go to bed now but will be back in the morning or that they actually think people missed them because they haven't posted an update for longer than 45 minutes.
Okay, sorry, I guess I'm talking about myself now. I've actually blocked friends from my Facebook news feed because the several-times-a-day updates really kept annoying me. Am I too old to get why everyone is so enthusiastic about Twitter? Hey, look, 400 people I don't even know are following my totally meaningless, inconsequential banter! Is that the new way of forming friendships these days? I'm sorry to have to pop your bubble, tweeters, but when the real shit in life goes down, only few or maybe none of these people will be there for you. And those that are, are people you knew in person before you started living your life on a social networking website.
That said, I probably shouldn't shout too loudly. I use Facebook quite a lot, and it's fun catching up with people and seeing what they're doing. It's fine to "social-network" to a certain degree. It's just the frequency and intensity that has to be measured well. It's just like that article that Deb once posted that was entitled something like "How Facebook Can Ruin Friendships".
Or maybe I'm just too old after all...
Sorry for the rant. Just had to get it off my chest. And now... I'm going to bed. And I will be back tomorrow. I hope you'll be misssing me in the meantime. Oh, and just for the record, my computer hasn't crashed recently and I also hate doing chores.

I'm the one who mentioned 300+ posts in 4 hours. There you go skimming again.
And in my case it's not people telling me about the tuna sandwich they just ate, it's all my showbiz and paranormal friends adding new friends 20 times a day. The only person on my friends list who has his Facebook and Twitter synched-up is Dana Brunetti. And yeah, some people might find his tweets silly, but that guy cracks me up! I love reading his updates because he has a twisted sense of humor and I think his life is very interesting. Oh, wait, Whitley Strieber is synched-up. And his tweets are often poetic, beautiful, thought-provoking. He also links a lot of cool articles. I've never blocked a person from my feed, but I have blocked a bunch of those ridiculous time-waster games people play all day. Like Mafia Wars and Hatchlings. I mean come on! I don't give a crap about your dumb-ass game. Otherwise, I really enjoy most people's comments.

Teejay, it's isn't an age thing. My 13 year old daughter and 17 year old son are constantly telling me that they think twitter is stupid, and don't know why anyone would do it. And they both do facebook.
Joan: So, my true nature is to be a catalyst? That is mad anti-climatic.
God: Anti climactic. Anti-climatic means you're against the weather.

Stockard Channing's posts are also wonderfully inspirational. Some people post more than just junk.

I don't like Twitter but I will check out Stockard Channing on there. She's one of my favorite actresses.

I don't know if she's on Twitter, Mel. I was just thinking of people who post great messages on Facebook. Check her out there. She has this cool profile pic of her and Martha Plimpton, who I also adore. I'm sure you do too, as a River Phoenix fan.

Oops. Sorry to both Deb and Laura in that case. :embarrassed: Guess I was too much in rant mode to be paying close attention. And I also agree that most updates and posts on Facebook are fun, I'm not disputing that. It's just one or two of my "friends" who are getting into the whole Twitter syncing thing that annoy me.
