Cool. Did Dale help out? If so, give her a big hug from me.

No. I had to cash out my IRA and borrow money against my life insurance policy. It sucks, but at least those options were available to me.

That sucks, all right. But I guess it's still better than the alternative. Do you start the new job on Dec 1 (if you get it)?
On another note, the dentist found a cavity in one of my molars on the routine x-ray today that I'll have to have fixed in two weeks. He also told me I have a tear in one of my fillings that'll have to be "renewed" (and if I want a ceramic filling, I'll have to co-pay). I already had to pay 25 EUR for calculus removal today. Awesome. (Not that I can't afford it...) And I do brush my teeth twice a day every day. Thanks, Dad, for giving me your tendency for bad teeth.

I start on 12/1 and don't get paid till 12/31.
Calculus? I thought that was a system of mathematics. What does it have to do with teeth?

Evidently it can also mean tartar or plaque. Who knew?
Good luck, TeeJay! I hate going to the dentist. Go for the better filling, it'll probably last a lot longer.

OK guys, this is a damn nice piece of very mysterious UFO footage. I get no fake vibe off this. It's not too good to be true. It appears to actually be something mysterious. Watch it till the end.

Actually, the filling I'll have to pay for isn't the better filling in terms of longevity and stability. Amalgam fillings are still the best in that regard, but they don't look nice and there's still controversy going on if they're harmful because of the mercury in them. Ceramic fillings are tooth-colored, which I'm gonna choose that one for the filling in the lower jaw. I don't mind going to the dentist. It's not pleasant, but my dentist is a nice, friendly guy and I usually have my filling done with local anaesthesia. I just don't like the fact that at 33 I don't think I have a molar that doesn't have a filling. What are my teeth gonna be like when I'm 60?? (Probably replaced by dentures, I know...)
And, hehe, yay for teaching the native speakers a new word. What do you usually call that stuff? In German, the literal translation is "tooth stone". (And I had to look up the English translation as well.)

I hope everything goes well for you at the dentist, TJ. I've had fillings before and getting them wasn't pleasant.

Congrats on the job Deb
Dentists suck, TeeJay. My teeth arent all that fantastic either. I was actually told when I was younger that they would recommend that I get braces to fix my overbite, but then was told that it was probably the better option to break and reset my jaw. I was told by my parents that we werent made of money and that year I was told if i wanted my teeth fixed I wouldnt be able to visit Japan. Hahaha my teeth arent THAT bad and Japan was absolutely amazing!
On a much sadder note, My dog Jake was taken to the vet because he wasnt eating, constipated and not moving out of his bed and whimpering. He is 15 and getting old my little bubby puppy dog and has a heart murmor and has fits in the heat during summer. He has already had an x-ray and they have said that he doesnt have cancer but are unsure as to what is the cause of the problem other than his age. They have kept him overnight right now on an IV drip and hoping that he will right himself after the suppository or else they may have to operate. And being so old they are concerned about putting him under anesthetic. I have had this dog since I was 8 years old.....I am really really worried that he wont make it through this. But at the same time I understand that he is old and i dont want him to suffer.

I totally feel you on the dog situation, Kate. I had to let my wonderful Lacey go three summers ago. She was 17 and had lots of issues, but bladder cancer is what did her in. We struggled with her for a while, but she deteriorated fast and I just couldn't watch her suffer anymore with no hope that she'd get better. It was awful. If you ever need a shoulder, I'm here.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog, Kate. My last dog died in the mid-90s and I haven't had the heart to have another pet since. I hope everything works out for the best, whatever that turns out to be.

Hee! I like that Google is making a different Sesame Street banner for every day of the anniversary week. Today they've got Oscar and his garbage can lid is the first "O" in google. My favorite was the first day (I think), they had Big Bird's feet and legs:
And here's Oscar:
