No Thanksgiving in Germany, so I can't say I'm particularly excited. wink

Re: Thanksgiving 2009

Well we will eat turkey on  behalf of you!  I remember being in Europe during Thanksgiving. The holidays went straight from Halloween to Christmas in the stores! It was a little weird to see Thanksgiving just skipped over like that!

Re: Thanksgiving 2009

Since my plans got called off and everyone else is going out of town, I've decided to my own little Thanksgiving dinner for myself.  I'm kind of excited, never done that before.

Re: Thanksgiving 2009

Sorry to here you'll be by yourself but sometimes that is a good thing. My mom has been a complete wreck trying to put things together for everyone.  Its nice every once in a while to keep holidays simple and for yourself.

The important thing is to make the best with what you have.  And I am thankful this year that I have a new job to go to so I feel like I need to celebrate, even if it's by myself.

The holiday week went by very quickly!  I hope everyone eases back into the work week okay. Thats always tough to do after a long break or vacation.

Imagine if you're me and you're starting a brand new job on Tuesday after 2 weeks off.  Should be really interesting, to say the least!

Yeah, have a good first day.  It is always a little awkward, but I'm sure it will go well.

Re: Thanksgiving 2009

Awkward is an understatement.  I'm a bundle of nerves, having trouble eating.  I hate change.  I'll get over it, but probably not until I'm actually there.

Re: Thanksgiving 2009

Deb - Change is never easy but I'm sure you'll do great! Its normal to be nervous before but once your there you'll feel better.

I started a new job myself too. Today was the first day, It went pretty well but I'm still going to have to adjust to their structure and lesson plans. Its tutoring for part time work. I'm 'in between' jobs right now as I move from student teaching to a full time teaching job- Its hard to get one in the middle of the year.

One of my closest friends is an elementary school teacher.  What age kids are you working with?

Re: Thanksgiving 2009

Thanks, Mel.  It was very intense.  So much coming at me I could barely follow it.  I think I'll like it there once I learn the job, but it's a LOT to learn.  The people seem really cool.

Re: Thanksgiving 2009

I meant to ask you this before. What will you be doing there? Something similar to what you did at Corporate Promo? Hope it turns out that you like the place and the people, once you get settled. I've learned that it's often even more important you get along with your colleagues than liking the job you do.

Re: Thanksgiving 2009

Yes, similar to CP, but closer to what I was doing at Citizens.  The place is kind of laid out that way.  Just a big room with a bunch of cubicles.  So far, the people seem really cool.  The job will be totally fine once I get a handle on it.  Today was better than yesterday.  And even though I threw up this morning, I was finally able to eat a meal at lunch and I feel much better.  I hadn't been able to eat properly since Saturday due to a terrible attack of nerves.

Re: Thanksgiving 2009

Do you have your own cubicle? Also, how far do you have to drive to and from home?
