Re: American Gun

That's an interesting question, but I can't really see the two of them as a couple. Can you?

Re: American Gun

Actually I think maybe they could be a couple, in time of course. They would bond and spend a lot of time together, getting to know each other and care for each other and in a couple of years who knows?

He will eventually move on and who better to move on with than someone who has been there for you and who knows everything about you, deep in your soul.

David will realize that yes it was traumatizing and heartbreaking but he's still alive, he can grow from this and still have a good life, he will smile again, laugh again and even love again. Tally wouldn't want him to miserable, wouldn't want him to be walking death.

No matter if him and Mouse do end up together they will still be bonded together by something that others will never understand. That's why I think they will, b/c if they date someone else there would always be that part of them that their significant other will try and be there and try to help but they really won't get past the surface like David and Mouse do together.

Re: American Gun

Ok so the first time i have watched this movie was last night and i have to say WOW. All the actors in it were fantastic and I loved it. The only issue i have is it feels like there was 3 movies and they tried to squish it into 1. The ending came and i just felt like there was no proper resolution to it all. I dunno. I can see what they were trying to do but i think that the story lines they chose were too big and too in depth to be done properly with just one movie. To me it made more sense to focus on just one story and portray it well than they way they chose to do it. But thats me being negative. I really did love this movie. Bias towards David of course but that story was so compelling. I think they could have done alot more with the Donald Sutherland/Linda Cardellini story line. The only story line to me that felt like it had some form of closure was Forrest Whitaker. But even then i wanted more. This really was a fantastic film but i just wanted more of it

Re: American Gun

It starts to register, make more sense and have a deeper impact on you with repeat viewings.  Also, TeeJay wrote a great follow-up fic.  And Rochelle has written a new one too.  They're on in the FF section.  big_smile

I agree with what you said Warbee. That's how I felt. Although I think your right Deb  that the movie may take a few more viewings to make connections.  I think it is one of Chris' best performances though.

Re: American Gun

It really is a great performance.  And it seemed to really surprise him that we thought so.

Re: American Gun

He seems to be pretty tough on himself. I noticed though that both he and Marcia Gay Harden were sweating probably from doing those scenes with such intensity over and over again!.  She's always been one of my favorites.

Re: American Gun

He is rather hard on himself.  And I noticed the sweat too.  That scene when they were screaming at each other reminded me so much of some fights I had with my mom when I was a kid.  His performance in that movie hits all the right notes.  And seems completely natural.

So true Deb. I definately had plenty of fights like that with my mother and other members in my family!

Re: American Gun

And the beautiful part is that he also shows us how much David really loves his mom.  I beautiful when he comes home and tucks her in on the couch.  Or goes to talk to her after the crap with the neighbors and he's just very quietly sweet to her.  It's a really nuanced relationship played perfectly.  I hope someday I get to ask him more careful questions about that one.

Re: American Gun

Didn't we have a video with all the Chris scenes one after the other? I'm looking for it right now but I can't find it. Well, have to wait until Cooper's back.

Re: American Gun

We have three scenes from American Gun on the website:

::: David's meltdown in front of his mother
::: David and Janet have a fight [about him cleaning out his brother's stuff]
::: David and Janet talk [in Janet's bedroom after Janet had the fight with the neighbors]

I'm not sure what scene you were looking for, but if it's not part of those three, we don't have it available online. I can make a vidcap of it, though, if you like.

Well, look at that. American Gun has its German premiere on Sunday (March 7): http://neo.zdf.de/ZDFde/inhalt/6/0,1872,8043014,00.html

There's even two pics of Chris among the stills:

Love the pics TeeJay.  Nikki Reed and Chris were cute together in that movie. A believable teen couple.

Re: American Gun

You know when I look at pictures from American Gun I almost can't believe that Nikki Reed is playing Rosalie in the Twilight movies ... in American Gun she looks so young and innocent while Twilight makes her looking so OLD ...

Agree with you Samsy.   Almost couldn't recognize her in twlight!  By the way, American Gun is playing tomorrow on the IFC channel, in the morning, and at night.

Re: American Gun

Okay - I watched this in the car on my 16 hour drive home (I wasn't driving, don't worry) and I can honestly say I think it was Amazing!!! Chris gave a fantastic performance - I think him and Marcia should work together all the time!! I felt they did a really good job blending all the stories. The ending for Chris storyline was really sad though. Ill have to watch it again when I can hear all the dialogue better but I am so glad I found this and was able to see it. Now I just need to find Thule and I think I will have seen all of his movies (so far).
