Black Friday 3D - No Longer A Chris Project

Check it out guys, a new credit has just surfaced on IMDb.  I'll see if I can get the scoop on it...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1144948/

It's only rumored right now, but it looks like a lead.

Synopsis...

A couple is viciously assaulted while vacationing over the Fourth of July weekend; authorities find Diane in the throws of death and evacuate her to the hospital. The local authorities proceed with an in depth search that holds no evidence of the attacker. Diane's older brother Kevin enlists the help of four college friends to seek out the elusive masked murderer. As their search progresses the youths come across a remote lodge that holds pure hellish terror and the friends soon find themselves face to face with the infamous serial killer Tyler Hillburg!  Written by Slasher fan

I think I might've run into the writer of this on the Infestation board over the weekend...

Re: Black Friday 3D - No Longer A Chris Project

Sounds interesting, but the 3D thing scares me a little because it's most likely not gonna be something I can watch in OV in 3D if it comes to theaters over here. Unless I drive to the Netherlands for it again. The two theaters here that show OV movies don't have the 3D technology, as I've had to learn when wanting to see Avatar in 3D.

It would be interesting to see Chris in a 3D movie, though. Let hope they'll also show it in 2D. I'm sure I'm gonna find a way to watch it when the time has come. First it has to get made, I guess. Then I'm gonna worry about the rest.

There seems to be a Facebook page for the movie: http://www.facebook.com/pages/BLACK-FRI … 291490750#

Re: Black Friday 3D - No Longer A Chris Project

I'm not all that keen to wear 3D glasses just to see a hatchet or machete or something flying at me.  So 2D is just fine with me.  Also, based on these guys' previous "credits", I'm not getting excited about this one.  Especially if the guy I ran into on IMDb last weekend is the "writer".  It looks like an ultra-low-budget thingamabob that we'll be lucky to ever see even if it does get shot.

Quote franly, I am getting VERY sick of this kind of stuff.

hmmm... we'll see about this one. I actually enjoy 3D but I agree with you Deb on the writer.  It does seem like it si going to be a very low budge, horror fest kind of deal.  Who knows though...

I'll try to keep an open mind of course.  It's just that we know it's not the direction he wants to go.  He deserves more.  I want more for him.  But I also just want to effin' see him.  And at this point, who knows what it could be...?  :clueless:

I really hope this movie is released. It would probably really give Chris the recognition that he deserves.

Re: Black Friday 3D - No Longer A Chris Project

Have you ever seen a "real" 3D movie, Deb? I agree that it can be annoying if a movie is riddled with effects that are made to exploit the 3D capabilities, but hopefully movie makers will come to realize that that's not the way to go. That was fun when the 3D technology was the "new thing" and was mainly only used as a gimmick in amusement parks and the like. Now that they're starting to make 3D movies for the broad population, I hope they realize that viewers would rather like a good script and a gripping story than a film peppered with effects that will make you flinch in your seat because you think something's gonna hit you in the face.

Sorry to be mentioning it again, but I think Avatar can be seen as something of a role model here. Cameron didn't use 3D as a gimmick, there are only two scenes I can remember where it was pretty obvious they were especially filmed to toy with the 3D effect. One was Jake wielding a machine gun and one was a gas can flying at you. The rest felt like it was just filmed in 3D. And I thought it was wonderful to watch. So, depending on how they do this, it could end up being a cool thing or it could end up being annoying.

I was also thinking: Another horror movie? Why?! I mean, maybe the script was really good, who knows? But I'm not especially excited either. It just sounds like one of those horror movies that has been done a million times. And if it's a low budget thing, it is very unlikely that it'll give Chris any recognition at all because it might not even end up in theaters or in theaters nationwide or internationally. But that will have to be seen, it's all speculation at this point.

Re: Black Friday 3D - No Longer A Chris Project

I understand that 3D can be great if used in a big-budget movie with what would already be great FX.  But this ain't Avatar.  Hell, this ain't even a low budget spoof of Avatar.  More like a wish-fulfillment fantasy from a couple of dudes who've never really done anything.

This isn't low budget, it's NO budget.

Also, who knows if they've even gotten in contact with Chris yet?  At this point, I put absolutely ZERO stock in this turning into a real film in the near future.  In fact, I have a feeling that if Chris knew it was on his page as a credit, even a "rumored" one, he'd be less than thrilled.

And for the record, "In Development" actually means squat.  Or next to squat.  Movies can languish in "development hell" for decades.

Chris really needs some recognition. Hopefully he can start getting roles in major films.

Re: Black Friday 3D - No Longer A Chris Project

Yeah, he's gotta get out of these kinds of first features by new directors, no offense to any of our favorite directors here.  But the movies just take too damn long to get made, and then twice as long to get distributed so we can see them.  Of course I'm just stating the obvious.  We all want him in bigger films, in meaty roles that will knock our socks off.  The last few years have been as exhausting for us as they have for him in terms of all the labor strife and nothing getting made.  But I fear that the downturn in the economy is not helping.  There's still very little money for film.  And that's why I really wish he could get back on TV.

Re: Black Friday 3D - No Longer A Chris Project

I understand where you're comming from Deb. Hasn't Chris said himself he prefers movies over film because of the diversity in characters?  It would be great to see him back on tv!  He's obviously good in the scary movies though.  Infestation was fun so this could be too! I always watch these type of movies even if they are bad!

Re: Black Friday 3D - No Longer A Chris Project

I'm not worried about it being lousy.  I'm worried about following it for 5 years, waiting to see it.  I just don't know how much longer I can keep doing that, with nothing to tide us over in between.  If he was popping up in the occasional TV guest role, it wouldn't be so bad.  That's the point I'm trying to make.  It just irks the hell out of me that we'll never get to see Sugar Mountain or Fellowship.  And that it'll probably be 5 years before we get to see Fault Line, if we get to see it.

This has "Direct-to-Video" written all over it.  (along with all the other credits of these guys)

Re: Black Friday 3D - No Longer A Chris Project

That's pretty much my thinking, with the low-rent cameos.  I kinda hope he doesn't do it.  If he does, I hope it comes out fast like exploitation --- as opposed to indie --- movies usually do.

Re: Black Friday 3D - No Longer A Chris Project

This movie has dropped off Chris credits list, but it's still listed on IMDb.  Guess he won't be taking this one after all.  Kind of a shame.  Unless something better came along...
