Re: Avatar

Oh by the way, did you notice that the guy who played Norm is also Amber's co-star from Spiral?
While seeing the movie I kept thinking where I knew him from and then it just fell off my eyes. LOL

Re: Avatar

The lead guy from Spiral?  Joel David Moore?  He's on Medium this year.  Last week's ep was really funny.

Did the fact that I can't see 3D technique let me misinterpret that one scene where they end up kissing somewhere in the woods? Because that "deleted" scene snippet sounds a lot like that to me. And I didn't think it was THAT smutty. Oh well, maybe I'm just weird. LOL

There was a kissing scene between Neytiri and Jake in the woods, but it was much shorter than the one that Deb posted. It was basically just the kiss (not very smutty) and then there was a cut to the next scene. What was posted from the 2007 script is an extended scene of what was in the movie that goes much deeper than just a kiss.

Tina, this is for you.

Saw this in one of the Avatar LJ communities. Too weird. I mean, I can sort of understand it, but if people go into clinical depression after a movie, sorry, I'd like to think they had mental problems before they went to the theater.

Since I haven't seen Spiral, no, I didn't notice.

But, yes, I did realize that the guy who played Norm in Avatar actually had a recurring role on Medium, most noticeably in last week's episode where he and Joe had a great storyline. Funnily enough, he plays the geek type in both. In Avatar he was one of the science nerds. A little all over the place, a little clumsy. Basically a loveable geek, I really liked him in the movie.

Re: Avatar

He's a geek type in Spiral too. You kinda can't figure out what Amber sees in him. That was a disturbing little movie, but I rather enjoyed it.  Up till the end.

I think last week's Medium may be my favorite of the season, though I did enjoy Who's That Girl, the one where Ariel was possessed.  I've just fallen in love with Sofia now after My Sister's Keeper and she was a hoot in that ep!

Right. Yeah, you definitely have to be in the right mood to watch it. When I started my first try, I couldn't even finish it.

Re: Avatar

*sigh* I'm jonesing. I'd love to see the movie again this weekend, it's been two weeks. But I'm useless without a car, there is no way I'm spending 10 EUR on a bus ticket to the theater, and there is even less way I'm spending three hours on busses and trams in the friggin' cold to go out there to the OV theater. Guess I'm just gonna have to hope that they don't kick it off the schedule next week. How did I ever manage to do this without my own car? Oh, that's right, I didn't live out here in the freakin' middle of nowhere.

I guess there's worse problems to have, though, so I really shouldn't be complaining. Still sucks to be stuck at home without proper means of transportation. I missed Trekdinner too, because, yep, same 10 EUR two-hour problem with public transport. When did I become a convenience-loving couch potato?

Re: Avatar

I have completed the next step to take me to a whole new level of geekery. I got the AVATAR game in the mail today. To a real gamer it's probably very boring and rather uncool, but I'm just gonna enjoy the experience. I get my own avatar, how cool is that? big_smile

Re: Avatar

The OTHER Avatar looks astoundingly, opulently, relentlessly beautiful!  Night hasn't put anything this magnificent-looking onscreen since The Sixth Sense....

http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/th … er/trailer

It's perfect quality so watch it full screen, with the volume UP.  I am now totally geeked up for this one.

Re: Avatar

I agree, the trailer looks great! Another movie I'm quite geeked up about is Daybreakers, but God knows when/if it'll come to Germany.

EDIT: A-ha! It's showing at Fantasy Filmfest Nights in Cologne in March. Excellent! I might just go and watch it there.

Re: Avatar

I hear Daybreakers is good, but almost too gory to take.  I'll probably wait for DVD on that one, but I do want to see it.

Re: Avatar

Yep, that's been cruising the internet for about a week now. I'd totally buy it, of course. smile My action figures of Neytiri and Avatar Jake arrived on Tuesday. They're really small, but kinda cute. Don't look like the real characters much (at least the faces), but I'm geeking out over them anyway. big_smile

Re: Avatar

I'd like to give 20th Century Fox the finger. Avatar was released on DVD/Blu-ray yesterday, and even though the DVD was just 8 EUR, I still didn't buy it. I will not buy two versions of the same movie, because that's just ripping people off. Still, I have a Blu-ray quality version of the movie. There you go, Fox, you just got what you didn't want: One less paying customer. (I will eventually buy the special edition, though, later this year.)

I can't believe I actually did this, but I am now a proud owner of this:

Cardboard_Cutout.jpg

It has found a home in the corner between my two wardrobes in the bedroom. And now I get to stare at a 2m tall Jake and Neytiri whenever I want to. Geek heaven! lol :silly:
