The new movie with Robert Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin. Its really quite good actually. I was pleasantly suprised by Pattinson in this one. A complete diverson from his twilight roles and he did an excellent job. Without giving too much away I'd describe it as a love story but a lot more than that. Has anyone seen it yet? I'd recommend it, even for non Twilight fans

I've seen the trailer and it does look a little deeper than your standard romance. What's the actual story about? You can put a spoiler warning on it if you need to go into detail.

I might watch this movie online sometime. Not too big a Rob fan to want to pay to see it in theaters..

You should see it on big screen. You won't regret it.
I've been waiting for this movie to come to Germany since, like, the beginning of 2010. Thank God my little OV theatre will have it by the beginning of April. I've read an early draft of the script and it totally blew me away. Can't wait to finally see it! And no, not only because of RPattz.

Don't think of it as a Rob Pattinson movie, open up your mind a little bit. It's hard to see him outside of twilight & even the way he comes across in some of his interviews. its definately not like Twlight or anything else he's done. He shows a lot of range and vulnerability in this moive. I was really quite impressed. Plus it has a lot of other great cast members including Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper. All give great performances.
It is definately something to be seen in the theaters because of the emotional siuation that happens in the end.
Deb: It is more than your average love story if I were to tell you what happens it will completely give it away and I think its better not knowing to be honest. The best way to describe it is a movie about valuing human life and to share what you have now with each other. If you want I could email you the other details. I didn't know if ithere is a way to black out spoilers here....
Samsy, glad its comming to your theater! I bet the script was really interesting.
It's a little dramatic and drawn out in some places but I think that's typical of this genre, especially in the indie love stories.

I'll give it a watch someday. I'm not really into chick flicks except The Girl Next Door. Pierce Brosnan is a hottie.
Offline
he definately looks good in this one too. I can understandhow you feel about chick flicks, i don't really care for them either. I wouldn't necessarily put this movie in that category- even my 65 year old dad enjoyed it!
Girl Next Door is a GREAT movie.

What makes you think Remember Me is a chick flick? I never saw it like that.

I don't see this movie as a chick flick at all, but I can see how people do only for the fact that it has Robert Pattinson in it and they want to appeal to the Twilight fans so they will come see the movie. The previews do make it seem like a bit of a romantic drama.

Well, it is a romantic drama. But to me, in the first place it's drama as I like it and (I know I am repeating myself, but I have to say it again) I would even watch it if Pattinson wasn't in it because I did not become a fan of his work after watching Twilight. In fact I refused to become a fan after seeing this movie. I even posted that somewhere here on the board. I said he makes a great Edward Cullen, but I don't really want to see more - but that changed after I had seen How To Be - which is totally different from Twilight because it's comedy - but again, it's comedy as I like it, you know?

A 65 year old man likes the movie? Wow hehe.
And yes, The Girl Next Door is a great movie. Its my favorite Chris movie and one of my favorite movies of all time.

You know what? They told me yesterday that they still have it on their planned schedule yet but I am tired of waiting.
So I'm going to do one crazy thing: I am travelling 94 miles to Frankfurt to see it on big screen with a friend on Monday. And I am ditching the screening of Parnassus at my local theatre which I had originally planned to attend that day. Heath Ledger may forgive me that, but I can't wait any longer. I've been waiting for MONTHS now.
And hey, I'm going to buy Parnassus on DVD the very day after. I've got some extra money from a tax refund. And I am totally going to spend it before the government takes it away again. LOL

I saw Dr. Parnassus, Anne. Its a really good movie and definitely worth buying.

Okay, so here is what I did: I watched Parnassus yesterday online and ... well, can't say I wasn't very impressed. I mean, okay, it was Heath Ledger and Christopher Plummer and Johnny Depp and Jude Law and Colin Farrell ... some great names, but ... that's it for me. And I don't feel the need to buy it on DVD. So I'm kind of glad I saved the money from that movie.
But ... as I said, I travelled to Frankfurt to see Remember Me with my dear friend Becky.
And. I. Loved. It. You know, I read an early draft of the script before I even really knew what the movie was about and I had this "Wow" moment when I reached the end. In the movie, a few things have been changed, but the main story is the same and it's very unique and outstanding. Do I give away too much if I tell that it's a 9/11 movie? Well, I am pretty picky about movies circelled around that theme because I personally think the this tragedy was shocking enough when it happened in real life, so the industry doesn't have to milk the people for it (as in making movies about it and selling the DVDs, etc ...). But that's just me.
That's totally different with Remember Me. I certainly think this movie teaches you something. I hardly ever say that about movies (I did with The Tic Code, because I think that's an important movie, too), but this one is one of those examples.
As for RPattz - forget Twilight. Watch this movie and then we'll talk again. LOL From this day on, I won't be ashamed of being an RPattz fan. I'll be living proof that you can appreciate both - him AND Chris.
Oh, by the way, I think Chris would've been great as Aiden, too. Nothing against Tate Ellington, though. But if I had to cast Chris in Remember Me, he would be my Aiden.
One last thing: It's still not on my local theatre's schedule, but I'm definitely going to see the movie again. Probably more than once.

Nah, not interested, thank you very much. Glad you had a great time, though.

I get that you don't like him. But the movie is really worth the money. It's definitely not just an RPattz movie. It's a beautiful story. But I won't force you to watch it.

Well said Samsy. I actually prefer RPatz in this than his Twilight role!
I was trying to hide the 9/11 thing for me because I wasn't expecting it until I saw the teacher write the date on the board at the end. Sometimes though its good for other people to know so that they realize its not just an average romance movie. I think thats why my parents enjoyed it more than they thought they would.

You know what? Twilight was never really one of my favorite RPattz movies. I mean, I obviously do love the movies, but if I have to choose my favorite performances Twilight is not in my top 3. Those include (other than Remember Me of course ) How To Be (he plays the ultimate loser and I love it. LOL) and The Bad Mother's Handbook, which is just a small British TV movie, but I like it because his role is kind of unique. And How To Be makes me laugh more each time I watch it. LOL Brillant little quirky British movie (again - as I like it. )
And I hate when people typecast actors because they saw them playing jus one role. I like to judge my favorite actors by diversity. That's why I watch other movies that feature Twilight actors, too.
Yeah, when I read the script I had no idea about the 9/11 thing either, that's why I had this Wow-effect moment (as I explained in my last post), but it certainly shows that it's neither a typical romance movie nor a "typical" 9/11 movie. It is a really beautiful, special movie and you don't find them easily nowadays.
(Side rant: It's STILL not on the schedule for my local OV theatre ... and NO, I AM NOT GOING TO WATCH IT DUBBED!!! Arrrrgh! I already spend one full week after I saw it in Frankfurt! If they're not going to have it next week I'm going nuts! I need to see this movie again! Oh well, the DVD will be released in June and guess what I am ordering then? LOL

I saw this in a theater with my niece last friday. It was very good and nicely paced for a drama. My niece was sure she'd get bored, but she was positively glowing afterards. I liked it lots too. It was really well made and RP didn't ruin it.
Hey here's a fun fact: Tyler's little sister had Finnish design sheets in her bed!
