Leesey saw the movie in NY tonight and texted to Facebook that she loved it. I'm excited to hear her opinions. Will try to get her to post here.

I've had to walk away from the IMDb Runaways board because I just couldn't take the Backlash Parrots anymore. You know, those people who've been propagandized to hate Kristen Stewart and spew the same lines about how she's stiff and has annoying mannerisms and she's one-note. Utter bullshit. It's like they're all writing from the same talking points, not an original thought in their heads. The board is moving too fast to keep up with anyway. And I'm wasting too much time there.

Can't believe the vast majority of us have to week another three weeks to see the damn movie. :fedup:

People who hate actors for whatever odd reasons they may have, are in desperate need of getting a life. Especially those people from imdb. That's why I hardly go there anymore. You're right, it's a waste of time. And hey, we can still talk about the movie here, it's just that I have to wait a little longer than you to see it .... *sigh* I really hope my theatre will have it.

If the movie was released on April 9 here too I would totally go to the first screening ever at my theatre. It's Kristen's birthday and I think seeing the movie on that day is a great way to support her (not that she'll ever know, but still ...).

I officially give up on this fucking movie. It's toast. Apparition destroyed it by staggering the release. Now (according to Larry),they've totally killed the wide release. It's down to only 200 theaters next week. And a million bucks says none of them will be in The South or Middle America. The Apparition shill they sent onto IMDb flat out told us that those areas of the country just aren't cool enough for the movie.

So FUCK YOU, APPARITION! I'll be damned if you'll get a dime out of me for this movie now. I don't even give a shit if I ever see it, I'm so disgusted by this. :angry: :fedup:

Yeah, it's profoundly STUPID. But I've calmed down a little now that Larry has confirmed that it will start in Atlanta next Friday. In fact, there have already been 2 special screenings here and there's another one Monday, but it's sold out. Gee, yeah, looks like Atlanta's not cool enough to get the movie. I mean, sold out screenings? Why that's meaningless next to what the genius "marketing experts" learn from their wonderfully accurate "tracking polls", right?

Dave and I saw the movie tonight. There was practically no one in the theater for the 7:45 show, though Dave heard them turn someone away from the 5:30 show because it was sold out. Go figure. There was zero promotion for it this week. Way to completely drop the ball Apparition. You suck.

As for the movie itself, I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet. I need to digest it a little, maybe see it again.

I hear there is actually a chance for the movie to come to Germany. A friend told me she saw some kind of trailer on MTV Germany. I guess I just didn't see it because whenever I zap to MTV there is either Lady Gaga on or Pimp My Ride or annoying ringtone commercials.

Just saw it on dvd. I was a big fan of Joan Jett in the 80s, but never really got into the Runaways. And I have never really enjoyed the rock and roller destroyed by drugs genre of movies. So there are my bias.

I liked the first half a lot, the forming of the group part was pretty interesting. But once it got into the group falling apart second half, it became pretty predictable (seen it toooo many times). The most positive thing I can say about the movie is how good I thought Stewart was as Joan(and I will admit I didn't like the casting), but she was perfect. I completely accepted her as Joan jett. The one major thing I will take away from this film is some anticipation for Stewart's post-Twilight career. Fanning wasn't nearly as successful(I didn't think she was terrible, she just never quite clicked in the part).
Kind of an interesting little movie, kind of traditional. Not memorable, but I enjoyed it enough while I was watching it.
