Re: Randomness

I fell in love with this car today...

2009_kia_soul.jpg

I was infatuated from the first time I saw this commercial...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFHCfwF87_o

But today I drove it and it's soooo cool.  If only I had another $1500 to add to the $500 I offered as a down payment I could've had it.  As it stands, I'm stuck with my crap Honda with its brakes failing for the 2nd time in 2 years.  And it's the second Civic in a row to have brake issues.  Never again, Honda!   Never again.

I need to win the lottery!

Re: Randomness

It has voice-activated Bluetooth and Sirius radio and the speakers kick.  And it has TONS of room, with this cool storage cubby in the back that you can use as a beverage cooler.  But it's small and fuel efficient.  I just love it.  And the one I drove has even more black trim on it so it looks even slicker.

Re: Randomness

Looks cute, but I personally love the more streamlined cars. Not much into those cube-shaped things. Can't you try another dealer that may be able to give it to you for a smaller down payment?

Sadly, I have been sick all weekend...so I have been grumpy and miserable. I will be back posting more soon. But excitement plus - my VISA and flights are all sorted, in 26 days I will be on a plane to the US

Re: Randomness

Wow, you must be so excited, Kate!! I totally envy you. I will probably be flying to Raleigh, NC the first week of May for a business meeting. I'm sure it'll be fun since I'm not flying alone and meeting my new study team. smile

Oh, and I hope you feel better real soon.

It's gonna be very difficult for me to get a deal I can afford anywhere because of the bankruptcy.  But my Civic is falling apart, so I have to do something.  I just don't know what.

Re: Randomness

I have some major news about one of my ex-boyfriends now girlfriend. He told me that she smoked a cigarette with embalming fluid at his house, did cocaine at his house, and she does weed like everyday. He said if he finds out she does cocaine again she will lose him completely. I have lost my respect for him and I am so disappointed that not only hes giving her a second chance but that hes not telling his parents or hers what she has been doing. This girl is only 17 too by the way. I have been praying that he gets her the help she needs if he really does love her. I'm just so worried and I don't want to see him mess up his life because she has already messed up hers and she already has and probably will continue to just make him miserable..

Re: Randomness

That's terrible. Drugs can mess up your life. One of my friends she uses weed and cocaine. She has been using it for 3 years. I found out today that she was pregnant. Her parents don't know that all of this is going on. I'm worried for her.She says all the time that she wants to use esctacy and heroin. She says that they are not bad and they can't hurt her.I tell her all the time that they can.

Re: Randomness

Heroin & ecstasy can't hurt her, huh?  Right.  And condoms don't work either, I suppose.  Where do kids hear this stuff?  yikes

Re: Randomness

Horrible news, shoothoops. Your friend is how old? Regardless its so beyond messed up and dangerous for a person of any age to do drugs. You should tell her parents. Its the right thing to do and even though she will probably get mad she would thank you for it later.
I found out that this girl rarely does coke. She got some but she claims to just have tried it. Now she has really bad grades so shes grounded now. I hope she gets caught before it ends her life. Drug addicts lie and I'm sure shes lying about rarely doing it. My ex thinks she cheated on him and slept with people to get the drugs because she had a hickey on her chest and it wasn't given to her by him. He needs to stop being blind and see her true colors.

Re: Randomness

This is new. I don't have internet at home. Well, not my own, at least. Telekom says it's a problem with the local line or something. They are working on it and hope to have it fixed by 9 PM. Feels like the olden days, this hasn't happened in years. In the meantime I can piggyback on the WiFi connection of the one person in our house stupid enough not to password-protect their wireless network.

Re: Randomness

My brakes are completely shot.  I'm going to have to get them fixed for about $150 that I can't afford.  The Kia dealer called me today, still trying to haggle, but I just don't have any more money for a down payment.  And both Dixie and Maynard REALLY need some expensive vet care.  It really sucks having no parents, no family at all to lean on anymore.  Don't know what I'm gonna do.  Probably why I'm having migraines.  sad

Re: Randomness

Deb, you dont ever want to break down in Australia then. $150 to fix your breaks here would be CHEAP! I had my car serviced, with brakes fixed and it cost me like $500. And the service was nothing special. Its just like a once over, oil change, spark plugs type stuff. But if it keeps my baby running, had to do it.

Re: Randomness

It's only pads.  You can buy them in the store for like $30 apiece.  But someone has to install them.  The mechanic I'm going to see tomorrow says the pads he's going to put on it to save me money since I only have 5 months left before the lease is up will only cost about $15 each.  But the whole deal is going to cost me about $135.

Betcha anything the car guy calls me tomorrow and tries to haggle some more.

Re: Randomness

Thanks, Mel.

Check this out, everyone.  25 of the pavilions at the World Expo in Shanghai, China.  The British one is mind-boggling.  I think the Aussie one is very pretty.  The German one?  Hmmmm.  The American one is just effin' boring.  Looks like an airplane assembly plant.  What do you guys think of them...?
