I saw My blooody valentine 3D the other day. I liked it. MIght have been the best horror flick I've seen. I was a bit disappointed by the killer. Shouldn't have been him.

Re: Sequels, Prequels, Reboots, Adapatations

OMG, I can't beleive it.  I think this trailer for The Karate Kid remake looks surprisingly good...

http://www.slashfilm.com/2010/02/23/the … trailer-2/

And I gotta admit, I love Jackie Chan from way back.  And Taraji P. Henson's in it.  I have grown to adore her over the last few years.  And who wasn't blown away by Jaden in Pursuit of Happyness?  I've changed my tune on this one.  Might not pay full price to see it in the theater, but I'll definitely see it.

Incidentally, I just watched the original on cable yesterday.  Still love it to pieces.  I do wish they'd gone ahead with their plan to rename this new one The Kung Fu Kid, but whatever.  Hollywood thinks their audience is stupid.  We get it.

I would like to see the remake of Karate Kid. The original is great and the sequel The Next Karate Kid is great too.

Re: Sequels, Prequels, Reboots, Adapatations

The Karate Kid was my older brothers favourite movie since, well forever. I have seen the original SO many times and I just adore it. I really think they should have called this movie "The kung fu kid" especially seeing as though he isnt even learning karate, but ah well. Does appear to be alright. I will be keeping an eye out for it.

Here is a horrifying list.  Most of these should never be made, but they probably will:

The crazy part is the sequels and remakes of films that bombed.  White Chicks 2?

Tell me about it!  That's just stunning to me.  Ghost Rider 2, for example???  I'm kind of a masochist and enjoy seeing Nic Cage at his wacked out best so I watched the first one on cable.  It was pretty terrible.  Why in the world would they ever make a second one?

Re: Sequels, Prequels, Reboots, Adapatations

I agree that the name should not be "The Karate Kid."  As soon as the trailer came on in the theater, my response was "F--- you!  You can't remake a classic!" and I simply couldn't be objective about it at all.  I think I might have actually booed lol.  Perhaps I should be a bit more open-minded...;)

Re: Sequels, Prequels, Reboots, Adapatations

Oh, I felt EXACTLY that way when I first heard about it.  And the casting of Jaden Smith bugged me because he's too young.  Also, while I really do love Jackie Chan --- I've got a TON of his Hong Kong Action movies --- I didn't like the idea of him in the Miyagi role either.  Poor Jackie doesn't speak English very well, so he doesn't emote very naturally in English.  Pat Morita spoke perfect, unaccented English in real life, of course.  And he was spectacular in that role.  I don't expect to connect with this new film on an emotional level the way I did with the original.  It just looks like a fun spectacle, taken as a completely different film, based on the same idea.  It's a rental.

I can't believe they're remaking The Crow, Yellow Submarine, Pet Semetary, and The Neverending Story. It makes me angry.

Re: Sequels, Prequels, Reboots, Adapatations

I don't know about the other films you mentioned, but I would actually love to see a remake of The Neverending Story.  I absolutely love love love the original 80s film, don't get me wrong -- big part of my childhood -- but if you read the book, the film covers only a very small part of it and there's loads more left to explore.  It could certainly turn out to be a completely rubbish film, I know I found the sequel to be lacking, but I'm not entirely opposed to the idea of another Neverending Story film if they stick to the book and don't try to make some new hip and trendy story with the characters.  I'd be more than a little wary about it, but I don't think it's a completely terrible idea.

Re: Sequels, Prequels, Reboots, Adapatations

Wanna know what remake-that-almost-happened I was totally into?  Billy Jack.  Starring Keanu Reeves.  I wanted Laurel Holloman for Jean.  I was completely down with the idea.  For the record, so was Tom Laughlin.  It would've been so cool to bring Billy into the new millennium.  But that one fell apart, sadly.  The original film is one of the seminal experiences of my childhood.  So was its sequel, The Trial of Billy Jack.  You see?  I always loved 'em fast, cheap & dirty.  And as indie as you can get.  But Billy Jack changed the way films were distributed. It stands as one of the most successful independent films of all time.  Rah-rah!  Hell, all I knew as a kid is that I was wildly entertained.

Re: Sequels, Prequels, Reboots, Adapatations

I am not sure if I say "Tomorrow series" if anyone on this board will have a clue what I am talking about. But say that in Australia and everyone knows the books. If you havent read them I would recommend finding them. John Marsden is the author and WOW. I have met him twice and spoken with him and I am just in awe. His books changed my teenaged years. Anyway, they have made his first book of the Tomorrow series "Tomorrow when the war began" into a movie. I actually starting tearing up when I heard I was so excited.

The story is basically these highschool kids go on a camping trip just before they go back to school. They come home and everywhere is deserted. No family, no friends, not even strangers. While they were camping the country has been invaded (they never say by who in the books, so I'm curious how they will show this in the movie) anyway its their story as they attempt to survive.

I have never NEVER cried so much over ANY movie or book as I did over this series. Just WOW. I am a little nervous that the movie wont be as good as I am expecting...but there is no way I will miss this. I have been waiting for this for the last decade.

The trailer is out!!!

Though I feel like crying....so far the release date is Septemeber 2nd, but only lists Australia and New Zealand. I was hoping against hope that I would be able to see this movie in the cinemas, but unless it gets a later release outside of Australia I wont be back in time to catch it at the cinemas.

Re: Sequels, Prequels, Reboots, Adapatations

Okay, so to come back to the remake of Death at a Funeral, I just watched the trailer online, and it's really sad that they basically took the original movie and just put other actors (mostly African-American) in there and made a US version that's almost the same as the UK version. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually kept some of the original dialogue. I don't understand.

What's even sadder is that Peter Dinklage is in both versions. I have zero interest in watching this because I thought the original version was great and don't see the point of paying money for an Americanized version that has the same jokes. But I know most of the American population doesn't think the same way (they probably don't even now it's a remake in the first place) and I bet the movie is gonna make a fair share of money at the box office.

Hollywood really doesn't have any even remotely creative ideas anymore, and yet people still fall for it (myself included, probably).
