New credit! And it's supposedly filming. Look at that cast!!! Ciaran Hinds again. LOL! I sure hope Chris is the young priest. Wouldn't that be awesome? A young exorcist? And he gets to go to Italy? Woohoo! I can't wait to learn more about this one. :dancing:

Hm, I'm not too big on exorcism movies, but it's great that Chris has finally scored another role in a movie that looks like it'll actually be released in a halfway decent time frame. The cast looks great. And it's really funny, because just today I was telling a friend that Chris hasn't filmed anything in quite a while. And, hehe, looks like Chris, Anne and I are actually in the same time zone. I hope he can take some time and explore a little of Italy and/or Europe.

If he's in Italy. The whole story is not set there. I think it's partly set here, based on the snippets. I don't like exorcism movies either. Demon stuff freaks me out. But it sounds like it might be a really good story. I bet he's one of the other seminary students, or maybe the main guy's friend. Who knows? Maybe he's the person who's possessed. We can speculate all day, I guess. It's just fun to have something new to chew on.

yiles. I've got trouble keeping my concentration when reading religious stories. But I do like Supernatural so maybe that's gonna be my gateway into this stuff. Loads of demons and exorcism in that show.

I'm reading what there is of the book on Amazon.com. So far, I'm gonna guess that Ciaran Hinds will play Father Gary Thomas.

It looks like it could be really interesting, if they avoid the most of the supernatural stuff. Sounds like the book is meant in part to dispel the hollywood exorcism stuff, and a movie about what exorcism is really all about would be pretty fasinating. But I assume a hollywood film will require scary stuff, so I'm not getting my hopes up for a serious film. My guess is that Chris's character will be a San Jose California character. (although a possessed person seems very possible), not sure what I think about Hopkins playing an italian.

Do we know that Hopkins will be Italian yet? I haven't run across a character for him so far. But I'm sure he can do it. He's a great mimic with accents.

I think Sir Tony might be a teacher at the school, or maybe the Monsignor who started the program. The character I think Ciaran Hinds will play, Father Gary, appears to be being set up to be the older priest in what I've read so far. But we'll see sooner or later.

Hmmm, now I'm beginning to wonder if the author of this book might be a character in the movie. If he is, I could totally see Chris playing him. He's a little young, but Hollywood always seems to make characters younger. Baglio took the course himself, attended many exorcisms, and interviewed priests. He wrote himself into the book, so he could easily be a character in the movie. I can see these interviews being used as a cinematic device that will allow some of the main characters' backstories play out.

I really hope he got to see some of Budapest, it's a really nice and beautiful city. I was there on business in 2008, and I wish I could have seen more of it. If the movie is partially set in Budapest, I wonder if they'll be trying to make it look like Italy. Or possibly parts of the movie are set in Budapest. Maybe we'll find out at some point. I'm gonna hold back on the speculation as to who Chris is going to play for now. It'll be on IMDb (or somewhere else) eventually.

And I can't say I'm very interested in reading a book about exorcism. But I'll be glad to hear about it if someone here wants to read it and would like to share.

I've read a bunch of it today. None of what I read is set in Budapest, so I think it's subbing for parts of Italy. But most of the story is set in Rome and Vatican City, so they'll have to shoot at least some of it in Italy. There's also a good deal of it that's set in the San Francisco area. Nowhere in the first 40 pages does a young seminary student hero emerge. Most of it centers on Father Gary, and he's 52 when he goes to exorcism school. There is a young Father Daniel that he meets there though. Father Daniel tells Father Gary his very interesting backstory, so I guess he could be the main character, knowing how Hollywood operates. The only other significant young man in the story is the author, Matt Baglio. But the excerpt jumps from about page 40 to about page 230, so who knows who else we meet in between? It's kind of dry. I might see if I can check it out of the library. Don't think I wanna buy it. But I'd love to scan it for more character possibilities.

Wish I could find the script.
