Just watched it. Definately felt it was weird. I found it rather confusing. I Think your explanation is dead on. I was going for just another sci fi animal / human series!

I do agree that Chris narrating was fantastic and that he should do more of that. Even audio books or something!

Yeah, hopefully we planted the audiobook seed last time we spoke with him. I told him how much we've always wanted him to do that. He seemed really flattered when I told him he has a beautiful voice.

I had a conversation on YouTube with a guy who told me about the comic. I've been meaning to look for it. Found a bunch of images from it. It ran for 12 issues. There's lots of info about it online.

MTV Reports that Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary, the duo behind Beowulf, have officially detached themselves from director David Fincher's adaptation of Black Hole.
The film is based on Charles Burns' twelve-issue graphic novel between 1995 and 2005 about the "aftermath of a sexually transmitted disease which causes grotesque mutations in teenagers." Some infected individuals will only get a rash, while others become monsters and grow new body parts, a tale, etc.
Originally, in November 2005, the adaptation was to be directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Mirrors) from a screenplay by the duo. Once Fincher came aboard, "David explained his process consisted of having over ten drafts, done over and over," explains Gaiman. "Roger and I were sort of asked if we wanted to, if we were interested in doing that. And we definitely weren't [so we] sort of stood aside."
Currently, the duo's latest draft is still in the hands of Fincher, but as for the status of the project, they remain in the unknown.

oh that's some freaky stuff! I might have watched that full feature. I kinda wanna read the comic now. thinking, I'd laugh a lot with it.. too bad it didn't turn into a full feature starring Chris. Would have been awesome.

Yeah, it would've been. I think I'm going to have to track down the comic. You can buy issues 1-10 for between $.99 - $4.50 each. No one seems to have 11 & 12 though. The compilation is about $19 in paperback. But I've read that people who love the comic don't care for the compilation because a bunch of stuff was left out.
