I guess the pods finally got him.
Always liked the guy, probably because he eventually showed up in a guest role on every show I watched as a kid. And he was still working and still looked pretty good.

I always loved him too. You're right, he was in everything. He was also part of that tight little circle of friends with Elizabeth Taylor and Roddy McDowall and Montgomery Clift. He was there the night Monty had that terrible accident that almost killed him and left him a scarred, shell-shocked mess.

96, though? That's an amazing run, especially since he was still working. I remember him mostly from one of the lesser-remembered 80s night-time soaps, Flamingo Road. I think he was also the brother of the writer, Mary McCarthy. What an amazing life and career he must've had. He'll be missed.
