I was just reading in EW at the dr.'s office that Jackson thinks the Hobbit should be confirmed soon into the future. There is suggestion that MGM is being bought out by another company & that this might speend up confirming the prequal to the LOTR.

I loved the Lord of the Ring Series, but I don't know how I feel yet about The Hobbit. IT was my least favorite book of the series that's for sure. I'll still probably see it if it eventually gets made.
I was also reading in Entertainment weekly about tv & movie reunions issue with the Lord of the Rings. Brought back memories I was suprised to see there wasn't a lord of the Rings thread here. but I thought I'd share the EW link:
