Re: Misc Stuff

Never saw that show but I remember reading about it.  It's amazing to me that next season all the major networks and some cablers are rolling out a TON of sci-fi shows, even though they always seem to get canceled very early on because they're so expensive to make.

This Spielberg thing puzzles and intrigues me at the same time.  It's like they said, OK, V's pretty much a flop, The Event is not doing well, Jericho had a terrible roller coaster ride and was only saved by fan campaigns, so hey, let's make an alien invasion/end of the world show!  Woohoo!  I mean, WTF???  Why would they think V meets Jericho is a such a great idea?  You look at the preview and there's not a damn thing in there we haven't seen before.  Honestly, with a lesser cast, it'd be a total pass for me.

Re: Misc Stuff

Spielberg is making a new show? Hadn't even heard about it. And I mean, V 2009 getting renewed and FlashForward didn't? That still annoys the hell out of me. I will probably keep watching V, but my heart bled for FlashForward and its characters way more than anything that V ever did.

I'm not against sci-fi shows per se (Trekkie here, after all), but it just seems like it's becoming a pattern. All the new shows I start watching and get attached to get cancelled after the first season. At least they've already renewed White Collar for a third. Where sci-fi shows are concerned, I do enjoy the technical aspect, but for me to really get attached, I need to like and get emotionally invested in the characters and their storylines. And sometimes sci-fi shows don't care about that too much.

EDIT: Noah Wyle? Okay, I'm there! big_smile

Re: Misc Stuff

Yeah, I posted the preview here a couple of days ago.  It's called Falling Skies and I swear it's V meets Jericho.  I'm just really sick of these half-assed alien invasion shows.  Invasion was the best of all of them all and it only lasted 2 seasons.  V has basically gotten a reboot.  It didn't technically get renewed.  What it got was a back nine with yet another new set of writers.  The stunt-casting (of actors from the original series) smacks of desperation though so I really don't expect it to survive the season.

BTW, I love sci-fi too.  What I hate is BAD sci-fi.

Re: Misc Stuff

I know. I was not a fan of V and loved Flashforward & was upset when that and Dollhouse went off air.  I continue to watch V because I know the actress that's in it.  She might not remember me, but my sister was best friends with her sister and she would babysit us sometimes for New Years parties.  We always thout it was cool because I believe she was on a soap at the time.
Anyways, "V" I don't like but watch because of her, Liz Mitchell. That's it.
I'll have to catch Falling Skies.  "The Cape" starring summer glau seems interesting. it will be on nbc.  But we shall see. I agree that the only sifi out there has been bad sifi.  I still haven't found a replacement for Lost really.

Check out more info at:

Re: Misc Stuff

I'll have to give The Cape a chance because I really grew to like David Lyons when he was on ER.

Re: Misc Stuff

The music store Hank and Becca go to in Californication tonight was the one we went to when we were in LA.  Where TeeJay bought the recorder we used for the Chris interview.  Rick recommended it.  big_smile

Re: Misc Stuff

very cool. I haven't watched Californication yet. Love David Duchovney.  The Cape airs tonight.  Seems interesting. Will check it out.  Has anyone seen Detroit 187 on ABC?  Its an NYPD Bluish cop drama. It's interesting, definately worth watching if you like that genre of tv.

Re: Misc Stuff

Did anyone watch Harry's Law, the new David E. Kelley series starring Kathy Bates last night?  Not the best show ever.  But she made the pilot pretty funny and entertaining.  Still, this one might be just as short-lived as Outlaw if the critics have anything to say about it.  Better check it out quick before it's gone.

Harry's Law was fun again tonight.  I missed The Cape, just wasn't in the mood.

Check out this bizarre Geico commercial.  I mean...???

Re: Misc Stuff

Congrats, Mel. Like I said in the other thread, the posters already have arrived in my theatre, but the owner said it's not that likely that they're going to show The Rite, but I have high hopes for 127 hours. It just sucks that I have to see it after the Oscar show. neutral

Re: Misc Stuff

Aw Im sorry, Anne.
The movie is my favorite of 2010. James and Amber were amazing! Amber had best dialogue and Franco had best action scenes. Plus they are both great eye candy. wink
Cant wait to buy and read the novel.

Re: Misc Stuff

Twenty-three is too young?  Though he is adorable, I admire his talent more than his looks anyway.  He's amazing.  He did this thing last night that just blew me away.  His facial expression didn't change at all, but tears squirted out of his eyes.  In two different scenes.  You can't fake that.  Chris better get back to man-crying.  Someone's sneaking up and trying to steal his title as King.

In the first photo he kinda reminds me of Jesse Spencer from House. What else has he been in Deb? I dont recognise him but I hold you opinion in high regard and if you say he is good I wouldnt mind checking him out for myself smile

Re: Misc Stuff

The middle photo is from the remake of Last House on The Left.  I haven't seen that and I'm told he doesn't have a very big role in it.  But I do want to see it someday.  He's a former kid actor.  His biggest kid role was probably in Gladiator.  He was also terrific in Unbreakable as Bruce Wilis's son.

I haven't seen any of his other grown-up work, but I certainly want to now!  If you can find the SVU ep online somewhere when you get home, just watch it.  You'll understand.  It's episode 12X16, called "Spectacle".  I think it's going to lead to bigger and better things for him.

I'm 28, remember? So yeah, to me 23 is definitely too young now. And there are still too many actor guys younger than me that I can't stop fangirling about when I'm in a special mood so excuse me while I'm trying to limit this a little. LOL Or maybe I can't stand looking at those guys anymore because they're so yound and so talented and then I look at myself and remember where I was when I was their age and ... well. That is just the weirdness of my self, sorry. LOL :silly:

Dude, I'm old enough to be their freakin' mom!  I'm old enough to be YOUR mom.  Don't care.  Talent is talent and beauty is beauty.  As long as they're legal, whatever.

I know you're old enough to be their mom or my mom. But I was talking about ME and I also told you that it's the weirdness of my self that makes me feel like that. You can go on like you want, that's totally your decision. wink It's just that "liking" all those younger actors makes me feel weird about myself and I can't help it. The Last House On The Left is good. The remake, not the original. Spencer Clark is great in it.
