I just saw a guy sitting in the row in front of me reading a newspaper supplement, and there was an article about the movie in there. The headline said Hopkins Can't Right 'Rite'. However, I haven't read the article. Hope you like it, though. I'm gonna sit this one out and watch it on DVD as I'm very sure it won't be shown in OV in Germany when it eventually comes to Europe.

I saw some reviews yesterday. there was some funny stuff about possessed Hopkins calling the young priest "kissy lips" etc No mention of Chris though. can't wait for Deb's review!

Just got home from the movie. I know what everyone's waiting to hear, so let's get right to it. If Chris is the only reason you're interested in it, don't bother. He's in it for about two minutes at the beginning. He plays the main guy's best friend. I know, shocking, right? He's in three brief scenes five minutes into the movie that take place back-to-back-to-back. That makes them almost feel like only one scene. Basically, Michael tells Eddie that he's going to Seminary School and Eddie's incredulous at first, then reluctantly supportive. That's all there is to it.

The movie itself is pretty damn good. I enjoyed it. Colin O'Donoghue isn't nearly as bad as some reviews are making him out to be. Their complaints about him are completely in-character. And Anthony Hopkins is obviously having a ball. There's not much Ciaran Hinds in it, and none of his scenes are very dramatic. That's a shame. It's tight, well-shot and moves along at a decent pace. There are no real gross-outs, nothing horrific, but the possessions scenes are very intense. And it's even kind of funny in places.

Chris looks like he did in Weeds. They were shot only a few weeks apart, after all. So he's cute and we'll get some nice screencaps. It'll look good on his resume. But that's about the most we're going to get out of this one, I think.

Anthony Hopkins is great too even though not as great as Chris. I love the Hannibal movies, have the novels too.
I like horror movies best and this movie looks great.

The Rite was number 1 at the box office earning 14.8million. Even though Chris wasn't in it for very long, at least it seems a lot of people saw him for those few minutes this weekend!

Im seeing it Sunday at my favorite theater. Its about 20 minutes away and my mom doesnt like it too much but its not playing anywhere else near me at all and its only playing at 410 and later. Thats the only downside really. Oh well.

Featurette about the making of the film. No Chris, of course. But it's pretty cool. I still can't believe that Colin O'Donoghue was once under consideration to play Superman. He's ain't all that. He ain't of even half of it.

The movie was really good. Everyone in the audience laughed at Chris's last 2 lines. The crowd was large except now its not even playing at that theater. I was reading a story about a guy that sold his soul to the devil in British Literature and on the quiz we were asked who we would cast as the devil. I chose Anthony Hopkins because hes a great villian especially in Hannibal movies and The Rite.

It now looks like my theatre is going to have the movie soon(ish). So maybe there is a chance I'll get to see it, but my list is already sooo long. I learned today that they are going to have Never Let Me Go soon and I definitely want to see that one.

amazon.de lists the UK release date for the Blu-ray for June 20, 2011, btw. You can't pre-order it yet, but I'll probably get it as Blu-ray (if it's not insanely expensive). Hopefully I'll be able to get us some good hi-res screencaps from it, though I have to admit I have not tried to do screencaps off a Blu-ray yet. No idea if and how it works, but I bet there's a way.

It's too bad you can't just rent it. I'd hate to see you spend $20 or more for 2 minutes of screen time.
