Re: Randomness

This is an interesting change of events. They got the investigation section of the bank into the situation and apparently they don't believe it's fraud. They reckon it's an error, which has resulted in my money being taken. Looking at the information they gave me, I can kinda believe that.

Re: Randomness

Weird....so its not a person taking your money but instead of taking $1 out some computer glitch has it take out $100 or something like that?

Re: Randomness

Theres three clues which made me think that it could be an error and not a person.

1. It all happened somewhere between midnight and 11am Tuesday morning. There's no times however.

2. It's down as going to O2, Bank of Scotland and Golden Staircase. After some research, I find that O2 and Golden Staircase is part of the Bank of Scotland group.

3. The amounts taken out is going in a pattern. It goes £1000, £1500, £2000, £2500 and so on.

Re: Randomness

Doesn't sound like a mistake, sounds like what happened to me back in 2003.  My computer got hacked when I ordered conference tickets online with my debit card from a supposedly safe website.  The very next day, multiple transactions in nice even amounts were taken out of my bank account, charged at the department stores Dillard's and J.C. Penney in Arizona.  There were three transactions of $400 each, and one for $200, for a total of $1400.  I only had $900 in the bank when this was done.  So the way it came to my attention was that I tried to put gas in my car and was told my account was overdrawn.  I freaked.  Now, at that time, I had never once set foot in Dillard's, hadn't been in a Penney's in liked 20 years, and had never been to Arizona.  So obviously, it was some kind of fraud.  It took my bank FIVE WEEKS to sort it out and give me back my $900.  Fortunately, I was able to borrow some money from my writing partner (at the time) to get by on till then.  I also had to get a new debit card and get my computer fixed.  It crashed after being hacked.  It was lucky that Pete could help me out because it happened right when he was coming here from Australia to go with me to the Creative Screenwriting conference in LA.

I bet it's not a mistake, Simon.  I bet it's the same kind of fraud that was perpetrated on me.  I hope they get you reimbursed soon.

Re: Randomness

You know, a few days ago something similar happened to me, only that it was the other way round: I found out that some weird firm had wired me some money marked as "salary" ... well, as much as I love to get money, this was looking way too obvious to me (I mean I would know if I had worked for them, wouldn't I?), so I asked my bank to wire it back to them. You can never know if this is some kind of fake ...

Re: Randomness

I'm really worried for my bestfriend. Shes in therapy and shes going to be there for I dont know how long. The reason is because some of her so-called friends decided to start drama about her boyfriend. Calling him names when they never speak to him unless they want to say something negative. One guy was even giving him death threats and this girl thats supposed to be bestfriends with me and my bestfriend ever started saying mean things. Contradicting herself and saying she was going to support them even though she doesnt understand why they want to be together, then saying my bestfriend treats friends bad when she ends up in relationships which is untrue. If she really didnt care about her friends she wouldnt allow me to talk to her and her boyfriend on the phone. Friday night all 3 of us talked almost 4 hours. And there were other times all 3 of us talked on the phone together. These fake friends of hers need to stop this drama because it hurt her enough to make her want to shut practically everyone out of her life. neutral

Re: Randomness

So my mom has decided to have chemotherapy now ... it's not that she necessarily needs it, but the doctors told her it would be safer to do a chemo to make sure the cancer will not be able to come back in a few years or so. She told me it's not going to be as toxic as a "normal" chemo, but still ... she already lost her breasts, I don't want her to loose her hair, too! sad

My stepdad went through it and he didn't lose his hair.  Hope she's all clear after it's done.

Re: Randomness

Well, I asked her and she said it's likely that she'll lose her hair. But I guess it's better than having the cancer coming back in a few years. I just can't imagine her bald ... sad But then, I also never imagined my mom getting breast cancer, so I guess I'll live through the no-hair-time, too. If that's going to happen.

Re: Randomness

Well after five days of hearing nothing from the bank about my money, I thought it was about time I gave them a call. What did I discover? They had put the money back into my account, and they hadn't even phoned me about it.

Re: Randomness

Same thing with my bank.  It's maddening!  But you can read about that kind of fraud online and pretty much deduce what happened.

Re: Randomness

Hope your mom gets through this soon, Anne. And I hope you get your money problem solved soon, Simon.

So that girl is a two-faced liar who instigates drama. She deleted my bestfriend on Facebook after publicly posting that this guy wanted her to. All because she can't stand my bestfriends boyfriend. All three of us were best friends about 6 years and now out of nowhere shes starting drama and has been ignoring me as well as told the other girl to not call her or have any contact with her anymore. So she calls my bestfriend a fake and my bestfriend told me that girl doesnt care about other people and has been ignoring me because she likes to talk crap. Honestly we are better off without that crazy chick. She point blank posted online publicly my bestfriend is the B word and an attention you know what that when she doesnt get enough attention she turns it into drama. Oh well shes not worth it and at least I know that now.

Re: Randomness

oh isn't that a lovely personality... roll who needs friends like that, really? even some enemies are better! you and your bff keep strong and honest to each other. Don't give into the other girl's temper tantrum. I honestly can't figure out what it is that she wants to achieve by that.

Any news on your mom, Anne? I've kept her in my thoughts. I hope she gets better. you must be awfully stressed over this. Just judging by your pissy tweets/fb stats about cooper ruining your day. every day. about 50 times. *big hugs* computers really get the worst of any stress. they only need to show just a little sign that everything isn't ok on the worst possible moment, and we people are ready to throw them into the wall or at least give a few good karate kicks. sure, that would help.

I'd be starving by now if my bank did what Simon's did. That is some incompetend crap. I hope you gave them a piece of your mind. and seconds too.

here things roll on the same. things don't really get forward with the apprenticeship thing, so I'm looking into studying in school. There's still some drama crap with the ex even though we agreed we were done with it. yeah yeah. i know. you told me so. But the kids are taking it all pretty well. boys love being at day care in daddy-weeks. now it's a mommy-week big_smile we're having fun. and a bit of everyday life. Kas is a bit sick, though. ear infection. But it's just as always when my kids have that thing: it doesn't really show until middle of the night. They can be crazy wild as usual during the day, maybe just a little snotty. no fever even. but then the night comes and being horizontal makes the ear pain pop, and fever rise.  latter probably because they get a bit hot during sleep anyways, healthy or sick. my lil werepups <3

in other news, I missed the Lapland tattoo festival again. crap. I'd really love to see some of that stuff with a bunch of professionals under the same roof. I think I'll get a tat next fall. I've wanted one for ages. gotta save some money so I can have a proper one.

That has nothing to do with my mom, it's just that Cooper's been showing me blue screens, like, 10 times again each and every day and I totally want to grab him and just THROW him out of my window for that, really. I mean, I had him repaired last year, okay? He was suppsed to stop with that shit. But instead, he keeps doing that. Like today ... I had him off most of the day but as soon as I turn him on, he, like, shows me blue screen every three minutes. I can-'t even open my internet browser ... HELLO????? Behaving like that isn't exactly helping my mood at my current life. Everything jsut sucks ass right now. I am definitely going to buy a new laptop as soon as I have enough money for that and this time it's definitely NOT going to be some cheap ALDI/Medion shit. roll

Re: Randomness

Im done talking about her. Shes the craziest bestfriend I ever had. Having a baby soon too, I hurt for the kid and the dad. After deleting me too it proves my point about doing nothing to no one then being ignored and cut off from communication with the person. Im not a two timer and I hate when people spread lies about my friends and call them psychos. Im going to go on living my life without that girl I never needed anyway. I regret trusting her and believing her especially when it was said she thought I was the smartest person she knows. Crazy military wife. I can honestly say I only have 1 best friend. She has the cutest baby ever thats my goddaughter and a really nice boyfriend. smile

Re: Randomness

Hi, it has been forever.  Life has been so crazy, I haven't had time for much.  Working on way too many things at once, (nothing very interesting).  Plus my wife's family has a lot of issues happening right now, so she has had to go back east to help out for over a month now, which means I have been Mr Mom (not complaining, it's just part of life, unfortunately).  Some quick updates, my son is loving Nashville.  He recently got a work-study job which could lead right into the career he has dreamed about his whole life, so that has been really exciting.  I was nominated for 3  Golden reel awards (sound editor awards given by the MPSE), but my schedule is so crazy I can't go to the awards. (if you are interested, the website is mpse.org). I hope everyone is well (it seems so from the looking around I did tonight) and I hope to stop by more often, but until things get a little easier....
