Okay so I looked and didn't find a simple Star Wars thread so I thought I would start one up.
Okay so just a brief history of my life as a SW Fangirl:
-I was introduced to Star Wars when I was around 6 or 7 by my mom. We went to go rent movies and then I saw the covers to all three Star Wars movies (vhs; man I feel old.LOL!) My mom said they were good movies so I thought, 'okay why not'. When I rented them I watched them backwards from 6 to 5 to 4. Little did anyone know that when I was introduced to those movies, I would become a mondo-fied Star Wars geek. When the Trilogy set came out, went to Walmart and bought it.
-That same year, come Christmas time, my uncle [and his then girlfriend, now wife], bought me two action figures and Luke's skyhopper speeder.
That is the base for my becoming a collector.
And Return of the Jedi is my favorite out of all 6 films because a.) it's the first one I saw and b.) I just really enjoyed it.
As a Star Wars fan I have had many countless adventures along the way.
-Going spoiler crazy for episode 2 (Attack of the Clones)
-Avoiding spoilers for episode 3.
-Being at Target an hour before the store opened for the new ROTS line of Action Figures on April 2nd, 2005
-Getting the first copy of the ROTS novel at Barnes & Noble
And now I am the co-president of our local Star Wars Fan Force and we have shared some great Star Wars memories together. It's so fun to get with people and share a common interest. And simply talk for hours on end about it.
My next Star Wars goal: To join the Rebel Legion.

I'm more of a Trekker than a Star Wars fan. I've seen all the SW movies, of course, but I'm not mad about them. They are very good, yes. But somehow Star Trek always had more of an appeal to me. I'm crazy for Deep Space Nine, my favorite Star Trek show. I loved TNG and the beginnings of Voyager too. Not a big fan or the original series, though.

Yeah, absolutely. I love our monthly Trek Dinner. There's a few people there that have become close friends. I could say the same about other people I've met in other fandoms, including this one (the Chris one, I mean). It's a great way to connect.
To come back to SW, I honestly can't remember when I first watched the movies. I never got into the hype as a kid. I know all the boys in elementary school had the toys and Jedi t-shirts. I know I saw the "old" movies on video first, I think it wasn't the digitally remastered version. It was probably six or seven years ago. I've seen all three of the new movies in the theater. I love Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor. Reason enough to go. And of course I wanted to know how the saga would go on (or got started).
That's about all I can say about Star Wars. Hope you can forgive me, Ronnie and Sean. I will talk Star Trek in more detail any time, though.

I guess I am not enough of a fan. I do watch the Star Wars movies, though. But just the movies, I don't need any fan stuff.
There was a time when I was really into Star Trek too, mostly TNG and Voyager. I don't know why but I always found Deep Space Nine a little boring.

You are my hero for starting a SW thread. lol.
I could probably type a novel on this but I'll spare you all and just summarize.
I saw Star Wars:A New Hope when I was four in 1977 at a Drive-In movie theater with my dad back in Carlsbad, NM. I only remembered bits and pieces of it, notably Darth Vader choking Captain Antilles...and the Sand People, but after a second viewing, I had all the ship's names and characters memorized, and had all the old school toys(Still do in fact) and basically my childhood life revolved around Star Wars as well as all the other kids I grew up with. My father was a big Star Trek fan, but when I was growing up, all we had to go on was the Original Series and the Motion picture...which just didn't have the excitement that a kid my age was looking for. I think it's perfectly fine to like both "Sagas", I just enjoyed SW more.
Fast forward to present time..I am currently a member of the 501st Legion, as well as an officer in our local Fan Force called Mos Alba. I have amassed a very large and intimidating collection consisting of everything you could imagine related to SW going back to 1978. I have a SW tattoo, my license plate says, "BOBAFET" lol, I named my son Jacen after Han and Leia's son in the books, and have been to the first three Star Wars Celebrations, with a 4th one to follow this summer.
Well shoot, it's a going to be a novel anyways....sorry.
Right now I am having the most fun introducing my son to SW. He loves to play Battlefront II on the X-Box, loves the movies, loves the action figures, and loves when I suit up in my armor.
I have a ton of SW related stories, but maybe I'll save them for another time.
My next Star Wars goal: To join the Rebel Legion.
Very cool! What costume/costumes are you submitting?

<nods> Okay, that explains a lot.
Thanks for sharing your story, Sean. I love how you guys get so wrapped up in SW. And I can totally empathize. We're all a little crazy around here, aren't we?

Mos Alba, you're kidding?! I'm the chapter just next door The Outer Rim. Small world isn't it!
As for my costumes for the Rebel Legion: I plan on doing a Jedi costume. And then the one that I want most is to do the Endor Leia Commando. Requiring the items I need shouldn't be hard. Although it will be difficult for Leia's weapon as well as the helmet.

Wow! So you are close! You must know Everett(Norvon) then? Are you SWJaggy on the TF.N Boards? I'm Hairlesswookie over there, lol.

Hey that's awesome. My wife did the Endor/Ewok Village Leia and it turned out really nice. Good luck with the Commando one, that one's sweet.

Yeah, I know him! And yes I'm SWJaggy. Hairlesswookie, yeah the name sounds familiar.
Man this is somewhat odd. Of all places to meet even.

That's cool. The Ewok Village is a nice outfit.
(me personally, I'm not a normal girl that wears dresses. If I were then I'd gladly do that one) But I love the commando one. Hopefully I can find the helmet off ebay or something.

Don't you live in Texas, Ronnie? I've been meaning to ask. Anywhere near Houston? If so, you could go see a Chris movie none of the rest of us can get to --- Graduation at World Fest on 4/24.
I haven't chimed in here because I'm not really into SW. Saw the original trilogy of course. Who didn't? I do dig Star Trek, mainly all the movie except the 5th one, and Next Gen. I actually wrote a teleplay for the America's Best competition back in '94 that brought Saavik into Next Gen for a guest spot, after Nimoy had appeared on there as Spock and Mark Lenard had appeared as Sarek.

Well I got one part of the item I need for my helmet. Hopefully I can put it together somehow.
Offline
LOL!
I found a tutorial on how to do it so I'm hoping it won't be that hard.
And since the ANH-15 helmets are too expensive I thought I would try something else.
Offline
Yeah.
By improvising, what I plan to do is get a baseball helmet and spray paint it a tan color. And then use a green planter for the top part.
Offline
Yes, I'd love to see how a batting helmet & a planter can equal a SW helmet. LOL!

Well that's just one theory I have in mind (then again that's why they call it a theory.)
My other way of improvisation is to just get a simple tan hat and use the planter. Although I think the batting helmet would provide to be more durable than that of a tan hat.
I will show the pics once it's completed but it might take some time as it's just a hobby project for now when I have the time.

I was at the NRA museum in Fairfax, VA earlier this week and I saw the light saber used by Luke Skywalker in the first Star Wars movie. It was behind glass (of course) and they would not let me hold it.
I am a casual Star Wars fan, but the movies are cool. I love Star Trek: TNG, too. I am a fan of Natalie Portman, so I like that she played Padme. Sometime I will have to go to a Star Wars convention. Those look like a blast.
Oh...and I still have two whole book shelves and a smaller book shelf filled with VHS tapes from my childhood and my parent's collection. heh
I have R2 D2 toys everywhere. Has anyone played the Lego Star Wars games? Those are fun.

The Lego Star Wars games are great. My son and I have a blast with them on the X-Box. and speaking of conventions, there's the Star Wars Celebration coming up this May.
It'd be great to see you guys there! Ronnie? Deb? either one of you going?
I've got my passes and hotel booked! I can't wait for it!

I don't think that Deb is coming to LA, Sean. We heard that Chris will be out of the country at the end of May, so it's highly unlikely that he turns up at the Celebration con. But I'm hoping for the London con. If he's there, I'm there, you can bet on it. However, we might wanna use you to get us a message out to Kyle, Sean. Would you be willing to give him a letter or a note from us?
