Re: Graduation

I would only add:

...make sure to go watch it.  And then post your comments about the movie here.

I think we should do a bigger post on IMDb too.  Ralston's post is going to be totally ingored in the thread it's in.

Re: Graduation

You could.  Also, maybe you could drop Lowell a quick email and ask if he's going to the premiere and if he knows if anyone else in the cast might be there.

Re: Graduation

Brian Ralston's answer to TeeJay on IMDb, and my reply to him:

TeeJay,

I just had lunch with the director Mike Mayer today. There is not an official poster yet for the movie.

As far as theatrical vs. DVD...as has been speculated here before, the answer to that question is still yet to be decided.

Just know this. Independent films made outside of the studio system usually take much longer to find their way. They are not made with a release date in mind...such as the bigger studio films. Sometimes the independents go the festival route and find distribution there. Sometimes they go right to DVD. Sometimes they may be theatrical in one region of the world and DVD in another. The factors involved in deciding these things are too great to get into and really have no indication any more of the quality of a film. BTW...GRADUATION is a great film. Yes I am biased....but it really is a good film and will do well in any way it gets out there.

Also know that any info upon which I would comment on the web will most certainly not be made public by me. It is not really our place to do so. But, once it is out there...then those involved may chose to comment on things one way or another. Such as in this case. The World Fest info has been online and publically available for at least a week now.

I am glad you enjoyed listening to the musical selections on my myspace site. They are also on my own site brianralston.com too. Where I also keep a blog of news and updates on my projects including GRADUATION. It is too early for me to speculate if we will be able to find a way to have a soundtrack release or not.

The best thing everyone can do in my opinion is just promote the Houston screening online as you all have already done. If anyone has any Texas friends, try to get them to go to the screening. It is always nice to screen a film with a full audience of people excited to be there.

Maybe we can get the Ain't-It-Cool-News.com folks down there to see the Houston screening and help drum up some support on their site too. They are based in Texas aren't they? Hmmmm... Anyone want to email them? ;-)

Cheers!

You got it, Brian. We'll do everything we can. We already started introducing Graduation to our friends in the Star Wars fan community who are looking forward to seeing Marquette in Fanboys. Word is getting around. We think the movie looks amazing! The trailer is excellent. I'd love to go to Houston for the screening, but it's just impossible due my work schedule.

We do have one regular in Texas. Maybe she can go. We'll see.

The Fest is at the top of the news on our front page right now and we'll make sure other sites know about it. You'll have the support of the girls at the Riley Smith and Shannon Lucio sites as well, I'm certain.

And trust me, we know all about waiting for indies. Chris has so much stuff in the can or near there that we know we might not see for a year or more, we've become resigned to it.

That's what makes a post like yours so nice. Thanks for the heads up. It's always great to see news on these indies we follow breathlessly for years.

I won't get to post on IMDb before tonight my time. So if you feel inclined to take care of it in the meantime, feel free. I'll e-mail Lowell tonight too. Been meaning to do that anyway after hearing the news.

Also, thanks for posting Brian's answer. I'll reply to that on IMDb tonight as well.

Re: Graduation

The first song is called "Jerk It Out" and it's by a band called Caesars. Funny how I never really realized that because I have that song and have been listening to it a lot. It used to run on the radio a lot when they released it as a single. It's a Swedish band, maybe it isn't as well known in the US as it is over here. I certainly noticed the song as familiar when I saw the trailer for the first time. This is their MySpace site: http://www.myspace.com/caesars

I don't know the second song (if it even is one, kinda sounds like the background music on Joan of Arcadia) and the third one is Fatboy Slim, I think it's the song "Praise You". The fourth song is completely familiar. The band has a male front man and I think part of the lyrics are "Oh baby, don't you know, I'm gonna take you home." I tried Googling it, but it didn't come up with what I was looking for. Don't know the next song. The last one is Iggy Pop, "No Fun".

If you really wanna know very badly, why don't you go to Brian Ralston's MySpace page (he's the composer for the movie) and send him a message, asking whether he knows: http://www.myspace.com/brianralston

Anyone wanna take a shot at those songs I didn't recognize?

Re: Graduation

Unknown 1 is Franz Ferdinand.  I think it's called Take Me Out.  I think Unknown 2 is incidental music.  Unknown 3 might be one of the countless versions of You Can't Hurry Love, but I'm really not sure.

I knew that the last one was either Iggy or The Stooges.  That's Carl's theme!  LOL.  It's a classic, but I couldn't remember the name of it.

Great job with the detective work TeeJay!

Re: Graduation

Franz Ferdinand, of course!!!! Yes, that's the one. Then it's "take me out" and not "take me home" in the lyrics. Well, I was close, wasn't I? wink "I say don't you know, I say you don't know, I say take me out." (And it's Unknown 2, actually.)

So now this is the track list for the trailer:
1) Caesars - Jerk It Out
2) unknown (possibly background music)
3) Fatboy Slim - Praise You
4) Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
5) possibly Can't Hurry Love (artist unknown)
6) Iggy Pop - No Fun

That make you happy, SweetInnocence? smile

Re: Graduation

Yeah, the music's pretty good. Not as good as the one I think they're gonna have in The Invisible, though. A site for the movie would be great. Now that it's screening in April, I hope there'll be more movement on it.

Re: Graduation

They played Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out on the radio on my way home today. So even if Deb hadn't been able to identify it, I could have logged on to my radio station's website and checked out their playlist when I got home. smile

Re: Graduation

Deb found this, looks like a preliminary poster for Graduation:

GraduationPoster.jpg

I don't think it's a current poster because it looks like the URL is still on it (the site has been dead for a few months now). It's originally from Brian Ralston's website (composer for Graduation), maybe I'm gonna ask him if he has a bigger version of the image.

Then let's hope it's not the final poster. I don't think it will be. If they're still going for a theatrical release, they'll probably come up with someting a little more fancy. A little more Chris-in-it too, I hope!!
