songs....problems

sisterdebmac suggested I come here.  I thank her.
does anyone know a REAL listing of songs used on the DVD (not original's which were dropped for the DVD)
I go to the different lists and have a real problem finding the actual DVD songs.  I did buy "This Is Our Life" by Mary Beth today.  I'd like to get others...like the closing song from Touch (DVD) which does not match any list so far.  The words are something to the effect..."the world keeps spinning...time keeps winning".
help?

Re: songs....problems

I'm not aware of ever seeing a list of the songs used on the DVDs. I know there are lists for the songs used on the TV show, but I think the problem with the DVDs is that they used a lot of songs that you can't officially buy (due to licensing reasons). But maybe someone here does actually know such a listing. I, unfortunately, don't.

Re: songs....problems

I wish I knew some besides theme song What If God Was 1 Of Us, Collide by Howie Day, and that song when Adam and Joan kiss at the Science fair. I used to listen to it alot except I cant remember what its called. I know its in Uptown Girls too. If I knew more of the songs used I would get the mp3's and make a playlist for my ipod for Joan Of Arcadia soundtrack.

Re: songs....problems

thanks...every little bit of info helps.  I found that if you can get enough of the lyrics (I go to my captions) you can write them in a Google search and with luck come up with the song (and artist).  I got "This is Our Life"(used in NO FUTURE) that way. that's the way I'll have to work them out. if that doesn't work for me (and it hasn't a couple of times)...it may be that in studio artist doing a replacement for the dvd. those are usually by an unknown uncredited female voice dubbed in to save them paying for royalities.

Re: songs....problems

I hope you find what you're looking for, stanmajor!  Thanks for the google tip, too.  I just found out the title and artist for the song used at the end of "No Bad Guy".  On the DVD, not the original.  Apparently it's called "Always" and the artist is Robert Scheffler.  I've been trying to find that one for YEARS!!!

http://noahsarc.yuku.com/topic/444

And it's available for download.  It's easy once you've got the title and artist.  Thanks again!

BTW, is the episode you're looking for the song from called "Touch Move"?  The one where Joan joined the chess club?

Re: songs....problems

Great work, Carol!  Gonna buy that from Amazon downloads.  Such an amazing song.  It will always be special.  Even if we hadn't used it in the fic.

Re: songs....problems

Todd Thibaud...I Say Love by Heavy Hitters Music closes the dvd of "Secret Service" and it's great.  another one that is a replacement and is NOT listed anywhere. you can go to Google and put in I Say Love...Heavy Hitters and you should get the page.  You can listen to the whole song but I can't find it on amazon.  I've got a mac...how does one download free songs into Itunes????
I'll check out the one mentioned above!
I think we are on the way to making the first list of the better dvd music!

Re: songs....problems

Oh, I love that one!  It was so much better than the one they originally used: "Have A Little Faith in Me" by Jewel.  That one might have been more anvillicious than when they used "Sympathy For the Devil" in the Ryan Hunter episodes.

Re: songs....problems

Yeah, Have a Little Faith is so overused it has become cliche.

Re: songs....problems

hooray!  figured out the closing song on Touch Move.
Taylor Sorensen....
WORLD KEEPS SPINNING
(time keeps winning)
this is a replacement for dvd only.  original song is listed as something by Richard Ashcroft...but that's gone bye bye to "royality hell"!
free download here:

went right into my itunes...but didn't get the whole song(?)

Re: songs....problems

we have about 10 songs so far that are on the DVD episodes but not listed anywhere.  not bad, huh!
maybe one of you web experts might go to the main "Joan" message board and tell em what we've got.  a lot of Joan fans search and search for these songs and this (to my knowledge) is the first attempt at a  DVD song list.

Re: songs....problems

Good idea.  But maybe it'd be more fun to wait till the list is more complete and unleash it on everyone.

Re: songs....problems

I seem to recall a Barenaked Ladies song featured on a JoA episode. I could be wrong, though.

At a certain part in your life. Probably when too much of it has gone by. You will open your eyes and see yourself for who you are. Especially for everything that made you so different from all the awful normals.
