Once Upon a Dream (Chris dreamfic) PG-13

This is a dream I had a couple days ago.  Thank God I remembered it, cause it was pretty vivid and pretty awesome.  I wrote it down and added in a couple extra details here and there where I had forgotten some things.  After a few days of watching nothing but The Invisible, Alpha Dog, and Just Friends, this is what my twisted subconcious decides to treat me with... And I am nowhere near complaining wink  This is a fic with Chris and I, set in real life... possibly an alternate universe.  I envy my alternate universe self....
This is only part one, part two will be up soon (hopefully).

                                       -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was at my family reunion.  It was taking place at my grandmother's house, as always.  Everyone else was sitting in the kitchen chatting about random things that happened to other people somewhere else halfway across the world, and didn't involve anyone that was actually there.  So I sat in the living room and started texting one of my friends.  The loveseat was lumpy and coarse compareed to the soft grey floor, but I felt comfortable where I was and didn't want to move.  I saw a movement out of the corner of my eye and looked up to see my cousin Chris walking into the living room (Imagine him in his The Invisible outfit, but with slightly longer hair like Mike Brander).  He plopped down onto the loveseat and I moved a bit to make room for him.  "Hey." he said, and I nodded slightly.  "Hey." I replied, and kept staring at the screen.  He looked at the phone, curiosity sparking in his eyes.  "Watcha doin?" he asked, tapping his fingers on the arm of the chair.  I held my phone out slightly.  "Texting my crazy friend Ashley.  It's really the only thing to do around here... everyone else is talking about stuff that doesn't really peak my interest." I sighed, and he smirked.  Slowly at first he put an arm aound my shoulders on the back of the couch.  "Yup.  Bout as interesting as it gets around here." he agreed, and watched me closely.

I was typing fast, trying not to let on how much my heart had sped up.  Suddenly, he ninja swiped my phone and started reading the screen.  Panic mode.  "Hey, Chris give it back!  Quit being such a fag!" I yelled, but he held me back with one hand while I struggled to reach it.  He started to read the text, eyes flickering across the screen.  My heart almost stopped and terror swept through me.  I had only known Chris as my cousin for a few years, because my mom's sister Jane (Take notice of the names) hadn't wanted anything to do with this side of the family.  Finally her husband Adam (Oh, the tricks my mind plays on me...) begged her go to a family reunion and try to make a connection, and she showed up with her sons Chris and Mike.

               **************************************************************************************************************************************************

*flashback*    I walked into the kitchen from the basement and stopped in my tracks.  Two new kids were here.  Who were these guys?  I approached with caution, as if I might scare them away.  Slowly, I slinked around them and saw my grandma.
"Grandma, who are these guys?" I asked, directing my view to the two boys sitting at the small adolescent's table set up in the garage (not that many teen's in my family, so a total of maybe four will ever sit at that table).  One was slightly tall and lanky, but with a kind of muscular build that didn't outweigh his frame and black floppy hair that covered his eyes just enough that I could see a bit of brown peeking out from underneath.  The other.... Tall for me, more musclar than the other one, a little heavier, but just enough that it looked good.  Short black hair and dark brown eyes.  He was looking around with an intrigued gaze at the people shuffling around him.  His eyes spotted me staring.  He smirked and waved slightly.  My heart stopped a bit, but I waved back a little.  My grandma saw where I was pointing and sighed.
"Those are your cousins Chris and Mike Marquette.  Chris is the older one, Mike is the one with the longer balck hair. Go say hi, make new friends."  My brain couldn't wrap around that information.  These guys were my cousins?  Why hadn't I heard of them before?!  Oh well.  Time to do what grandma told me to.  I walked over slowly and smiled.
"Hi.  I'm Arika, apparently I'm your cousin." I said.  Chris's gaze sweeped over me like he was trying to take a picture.  Mike smiled brightly and shook my hand.
"Hey.  I'm Mike, this is my older brother Chris.  Nice to meet some family that actually wants to know us." he said, and shook my hand.  Chris smiled again and shook my hand.  His grip was firm, but his hands were soft.
"Hey.  I'm Chris.  Nice to meet you." he said.  His voice resonated through me from the contact our hands made.  That smile killed me right then and there.  *Why do these guys have to be related to me?!* my mind was screaming.
"Cool.  Nice to meet you guys." I said, and took a seat next to Chris.  Occasionally we would catch each other looking, and we would both look away quickly like nothing happened.  We talked a little, got to know each other better.  Mike was in deep conversation with my cousin Kyle about religion, and me and Chris were just chatting about nothing in particular.  After it was over, he ran up to me before he got into the car.
"Arika, I want you to have this." he said.  He held out a CD.  No cover, no case, just a CD.
"Trust me.  I think you'll like it." he said, and smiled again.  "... Thanks." I said, and he ran back to his car.  "I'm serious!  Just listen to it." he said again, and didn't pay attention to where he was backing up and almost hit the cement blocks lined up on the driveway.  "Shit..." I heard him mutter, and I laughed.  He looked up and blushed.  "Not funny." he said, and finally got into the street.  "See you." I called, and he smiled back.  "See ya."

                               --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That was three years ago.  Now here we were, sitting on the couch, fighting like me and my other cousins do.  My mind was still thrown into overdrive while he was reading it, desperately trying to get it back.  The text said 'Why is it that the cutest guy has to be my cousin?  I wish Chris and I weren't related... The sucky thing is he's only down here for a week from Washington, and that's just for this.  This is the only time I EVER get to see him.  Ugh.'  My face went bright red as he smirked.
"This is... flattering, and slightly interesting." he chuckled, and finally I got it back.
"You can be a real jerk sometimes, you know that Chris?" I growled, and pulled my feet up onto the couch, resting my knees against my chest.  He's the one I'm talking about, and he knows it.  Me and Mike never really got as close as me and Chris.  Chris laughs.
"You know, I recently found out something kind of important.  I'm not related to you." he said, as if it was the easiest thing in the world to accept.  The look on my face gave away every single bit of surprise I had left.  He saw the confusion.
"Yeah... I'm actually adopted.  I was an orphaned newborn.  I know, such a shocker.  Considering I look NOTHING like my parents, or anyone else in my family for that matter." he sighed, and ran a hand through his short hair.  He had let it grow out a bit, and the stubble on his face indicated a neglect of shaving.  I thought it looked kind of nice to see him with some bit of maturity instead of the teenage smooth face he had when we first met.  "Not even dad knows about this.  Just mom, me, and now you." he said, staring at the ceiling.  "Mom doesn't even know that I know."

I was sitting there, eyes searching his face for any trace of lying, mouth closed tightly because my voice might fail me if I open it.  He looked over at me, and blinked.  "Are you okay?" he asked, worry in his eyes.  "Am I okay?  I should be asking you that, not the other way around!" I said finally, getting my vocal chords back in control.  He laughed slightly, and got up off of the loveseat, handing a piece of folded up paper.  He took a second, like he was trying to find the right words.  "... you know, I never once agreed with you in those arguments when you said you were ugly, and you always said that you were the most unattractive person on the planet... I always said you were the prettiest girl I'd seen... and I wasn't lying." He said, and walked back into the kitchen where everyone else was.  Mike had vanished with his laptop somehwere in the house, probably looking up porn, despite him being the overly religious nut he is.  Shaking slightly, I unfolded the paper and read it.  'Call me sometime.  I'm always here if you need to talk. <3 -- (random phone number((I actually had a number, but I coldn't remember it when I woke up)))

                            ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My mind is soooooo messed up sometimes....

Re: Once Upon a Dream (Chris dreamfic) PG-13

Part two smile

--------------------------------------

At the family reunion, we always head out to the lake for some fun time.  Mom had a full car.  So she said "You can just ride up with Chris."   Wow, and just when I thought this day couldn't get any more awkward/embarassing/awesome.  I walked toward his car with him, staring at the ground, face red just a little bit.  he tried not to look at me, staring at the trees or the keys in his hand.  Finally when we got to his car I looked up at him, and caught him looking back at me.  Both of us smiled a little and got in the car.  I put on my seatbelt and he did the same, reaching for the radio.  It turned on, and Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down was on.  I smiled and started singing along, like no one was watching.  Chris smirked, and I looked at him with a questioning gaze.  "What?  It's a good song..." I muttered.  Then the most awward song ever came on.  S&M by Rihanna.  Both of our eyes went a little bit wide and I changed it really quickly.  Total Eclipse of the Heart was even better than the other song, and we both knew it.  Neither of us really talked during the trip, just occasionally sneak glances at each other.

We finally got to the lake after what seemed like an eternity.  I unhooked my seatbelt and got out of the car, standing next to the door waiting for Chris to get out.  After a few seconds, he got out and stared directly forward at a group of stoned and drunk twenty somethings smoking and drinking a few yards away.  They were eyeing me... rather disturbingly.  Chris shut his door and looked at me seriously.  "Stay by the car." he said, and I looked back at the guys.  They had slowly started shuffling towards us.  Chris walked toward them.  "Guys, we don't want any trouble." he said to them.  One of them laughed.  "Tell that bitch to get over here and there won't be any trouble." the stoner laughed, lighting up  another one.  Chris looked back at the car and saw me standing by the passenger side door, scared out of my mind.  He turned back to them and sighed, slightly smirking.  "Yeah, that's not gonna happen fellas." he said, and started to walk away.  One of the drunkards grabbed him by the shoulder and turned him back around.  Chris cringed at the smell of the alcohol all over the guy.  "Oh, I think it is." the guy said, laughing.  Calmly Chris took the hand off of his shoulder and continued walking back to the car.  One of the other guys came up to him and turned him around roughly, and Chris retaliated with a punch in the face, knocking the guy out.  "One, no means no." he said, and the others advanced.  He took them down one by one.  He stared at the last guy and crouched to look him in the eyes.  "And two, you don't call her a bitch." he said, and stood up, walking back to the car.  I sighed in relief, and then one guy ran at him from behind, switchblade in hand.  "Chris!" I shouted in panic, and ran at the guy.  I hit him head and took him down.  Immediately I felt pain radiating up my left leg.  The guy had hit his head on the pavement, so he was out cold.  Chris ran over and tried to help me up, but I couldn't stand for long until I almost collapsed again.  I looked down at my leg and saw a dark red stain covering my left knee and lower leg.  The switchblade was stuck in my knee.  "Oh my God." I said, and he looked down at my leg, our faces equally shocked.  His shock, I had to admit, was a slight bit more than mine.  "Well shit." I muttered, and he again helped me partially stand.  Finally he just picked me up bridal style and walked me over to a bench under the pavillion where the rest of the family is at while we waited for the paramedics.  All they have to do is take out the knife, clean the wound, and stitch me up, then put a bandage on it.  Easy as pie.  "Can you stand?" he asked me quietly, and I stood up just a bit before falling back onto the bench.  "Eh.' I replied and attempted a smile, but he was just looking at me like 'really?  Jokes?  Now?' Chris walked back to my mom and offered to take me back to grandma's to rest for a bit, and mom agreed.  So he carried me back to the car and on the way he didn't spare any mercy on the one guy that tried getting back up.  Kick to the face and he was down again.

Re: Once Upon a Dream (Chris dreamfic) PG-13

Part three!!  I don't knwo how many people are reading this, but hey if I have it on parer its probably going to end up here.  So anyways, on to 3

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now we're at my grandma's house after the whole catastrophe.  He helped me get slowly into the living room, and then I sat down lazily on the couch.  He sat down next to me and sighed, looking over as I pulled out a book I had been reading for a few days.
"...Are you okay?" he asked.  I looked over at him and nodded, going back to my reading.  Then he asked again a few minutes later.  He had asked me the whole way back from the lake, and every time my answer was always "I'm fine."  It hadn't changed yet.  After a couple of hours he looked at the bandage with a pained expression.
"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked.  I sighed and let my head fall backwards, closing the book with a slight poof as the pages shut.  "For the thousandth time, yes.  I'm fine." I said.  He smiled sadly at the comment and looked at his hands, messing with the ring on his index finger.  "Well, if I hadn't pissed off those druggies this wouldn't have happened." he said quietly, and looked at my eyes with a kind of far off look.  I smiled a little and nudged him with my shoulder.  "Yeah, and if you hadn't pissed them off and told them no then I think a lot worse than a stab up the leg would have happened." I added.  He shrugged and sighed.  "I still feel responsible.  The least I can do is ask."
I laughed and smirked, shaking my head.  "No, the least you can do is kiss my leg and make it all better." I joked, and he looked at me seriously.  "Okay." he said.  He slid off the couch and turned slightly, kissing the bendaged area.  His chocolate brown eyes looked into my pale blue ones and he didn't blink.  "Better?" he asked quietly.  My heart was going a million miles a minute.  "Yeah..." I said, not breaking the gaze.  We sat like that for a while, with him leaned against my legs and me leaning into the couch.  I grabbed the remote, not being able to stand the silence anymore.  "I'm turning it to the radio stations." I muttered, flipping through them quickly.  I heard a song that sounded familiar, and Chris thought so too.  Neither of us remembered where, though.
"Fair.  By Remy Zero." he snapped his fingers and smiled when he got it right.  I laughed at his excitement.  He turned around and smiled, holding a hand out to me as he stood up.  All 5' 8" of him.  "May I have this dance?" he asked in a horrible british accent, making me laugh immediately upon impact.  I grabbed his hand and he helped me to my feet.  We started to slow dance in the living room.  He started with his hands on the top of my back, and Mine were just resting on his shoulders.  *Hey... Are you lonely?  Summer gone so slowly... But we found the ground and that damage was done... It's cold as you fade into the sun...* I looked at his face, taking in his features like I'd never see him again.  And he did the same with me.  *Where'd you go... to me?* His hands moved to my lower back and I moved mine behind his neck, bringing us a little bit closer.  *But you're alive... Well it's only... Fallen frames they told me.  You stand out... so loud and so what if it is?  It's cold as you face into the wind...* suddenly we seemed a lot closer than we had been just a few short moments ago.  I rested my head on his shoulder and he held me close as I closed my eyes.  I inhaled his scent, smirking a little when I smelled the Axe he was put on this morning.  I pulled away and looked him in the eyes, maybe some of the longing showed in them like they showed in his.  *So what if you catch me, where would we land?  In somebody's life for taking his hands... Sing to me hope as she's thrown on the sand... All of our work is rated again...  Where to go?* Gradually we are close enough to where we can feel each other's breath.  I smile slightly.  "A few hours ago, this would have been so... so wrong." I whispered, and he smirked.  "Yeah... But I still probably would have done it." he said back, winkning.  I made a disgusted face, but he knew I was playing around.  His smooth, rumbly laugh went through my body as it travelled through his.
And then we kissed.  Gentle, cautious, innocent.  Like I had always hoped it would be.  I closed my eyes and smiled a little.  Then slowly, it became deeper.  He breathed a little bit quicker as I pulled away a bit.  Then when we started again he begged for entrance, and I granted it carefully.  My hand travelled to the back of his neck and I ran my fingers through the little flipped out hair on the top of his neck.  He pulled me even closer, if it's possible at this point, and pressed his hands into the small of my back.  I could feel his heartbeat against my own.  Quick.  Feverish.  Nervous.  Our lips collided a bit more than we had intended and he pulled back, shutting his eyes tightly and sighing a bit, trying to get control of himself.  I breathed out softly, still trying to wrap my mind around it.  "We... We should stop." he said, panted.  I nodded, just a little dizzy from it all.  I still felt his lips against my own even when they weren't there.  He opened his eyes and looked at me, smiling a bit.  I returned the smile with a beaming one of my own, and hugged him tightly.  Then I looked at the reflection in the glass door behind us, and stopped my smiling.  "Chris... Mike is here."

Re: Once Upon a Dream (Chris dreamfic) PG-13

Part Four

Chris's head snapped up from my shoulder and gave a menacing stare to his younger brother.  Mike was a majorly spazzish kid with a hatred of gays, bis, and for some reason Jewish people.  He was also afraid of the Chinese.  He's a weird kid, but he's family.
So he was standing there the entire time we had our intimate moment, staring in horror and not blinking.  He made the motion to scuttle away, but Chris shifted a bit in a ready to sprint position.
"You."  he growled, and Mikey's eyes got wide.  "Um... Well, I best be off..." Mikey started, but Chris started running at him already.  Mikey's screams rang down the hallway as he sprinted for the back bedroom door, opened it, and closed it swiftly behind him while Chris nearly got to it.  Unfortunately, Chris couldn't get to him before he locked the door.  I ran down the hallway following Chris.  Mike had a phone, and he decided he would call my mom and tell her all about what was going on.
   "Hello, Mike?"
"INCESTUOUS FLAMES ARE BURNING IN THE HOUSE!!"  Mikey screamed into the phone.  Chris hit the door at full speed with his shoulder, weakening the hinges but injuring himself.  I coughed and cleared my throat, motioning for him to step aside.  Gladly, and rubbing his injured shoulder, he let me stand in front of the door.  I took a few steps back and roundhouse kicked the door inwards, hearing the hinges break as they swung open.  Mikey screamed in fear and flung the phone, hiding himself behind the bed.  Chris picked up the phone and cleared his throat, stalling until I could talk to my mom.  I caught Mike by the ankle and dragged him out from underneath the bed, fearful noises coming from him while he struggled.
"You sit... nice and... tight." I growled, tying him to the bed with the sheets.  His muffled voice came from beneath the thinnest sheet.  I got the phone from Chris and put on my best 'nothing is wrong mother' voice.
"Hello?  Mike?  what about incestuous flames?!" my mom yelled from the other end.
"Nothing mom, Mike is being a spaz." I said calmly, Chris was tackling Mike behind me.
"Well... Alright.  Mike was always a bit off in his head." mom said back, and I laughed a little.  "Just, behave yourselves over there.  No friendly cousin kissing, okay?  I don't care if Elvis said it's okay."

I made a small gagging noise and shuddered.  "Mom, me and Mike are strictly platonic, I can assure you.  Alright.  Bye, mom."  I said softly, and hung up the phone.  I turned to Mike, my facial expression may have rivaled the Devil's.  His eyes got wide, and I think Chris's might have too.  I ripped the sheet off of his mouth and took his hand in mine, holding it gently and inspecting his fingers.
"Mikey, I swear, if you EVER, do anything like that EVER again, I will not hesitate in breaking every... last... one of these." I warned, smiling sweetly.  Chris backed up a little bit.  He whimpered and held out a cross in my face.  To be honest it was quite pretty and I nearly was tempted to borrow it from him for my school pictures.
"At least I'm not the one playing 'temptress tonsil hockey' with my cousin!" he said coldly, shivering a little.  Chris rolled his eyes.  "Jesus, Mikey,it's not how it looks." he said angrliy, shaking his head.
"Then clear my vision, because I can't see anything but incest." Mike countered, holding the cross out in front of both of us again.  Chris looked him in the eye angrily.

"Because, Douchey McNitpick, I'm freaking adopted."  he said, and banged his head on the doorframe in frustration.  Mikey raised and eyebrow in skepticism.  "Really Chris?  I'm not an idiot." he sid, scoffing.  I let out a little laugh of exasperation.  Chris turned again and looked at Mike in the eyes again.  "Honestly.  I'm not kidding, I'm adopted Mike."  Mike looked between me and Chris, eyes scrunching in confusion.
"...That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.  I've known you since I was born."  Mike siad, staring Chris down.  Chris slumped to the floor and threw a yellow piece of notebook paper at Mike.  I saw a lighter peeking out from Chris's pocket.

"Okay.  Start of the story, twenty-three years ago.  Jane, or "mom", was expecting her first child.  She didn't have a lot of money, she went to a cheap-o hospital in the slums of town.  October third she had a stillborn son.  Distraught, she decided to claim that another motherless and fatherless child as her own.  The doctors didn't care, they couldn;t take care of it any better than she'd be able to.  The mom of this kid was most likely a prostitute.  No family, no friends, no father for the child.  So Jane decided to take hom ethe boy and name his Christopher.  And here we are, nearly twenty-four years later." he explained.
Mike stared him down hard, taking in every inch of his facial expressions.

"Chris I swear to God if you are lying I will not hesitate in killing you." he said.  Chris motioned to the letter he had given Mikey.
"It's a letter from Jane to Adam telling him that I'm not his son.  And she isn't my mom.  Enjoy the read."
