Re: Random JoA Stuff...

You're absolutely right about Adam telling Helen that only to squeeze Bonnie into Helen's class and then turn cad.  It was ridiculous.  I'm so glad I got to ask Chris about the remarkable chemistry he and Mary had together.  It tickled me to no end that he said it was because he was kind of in love with her.  I was like, me too!  big_smile

I first loved her in Back to the Future 3  big_smile it was my favorite movie saga growing up. My favorite role of hers must be Helen but I always love getting surprised when she gets on screen in movies. she sure gets around! big_smile

Seriously, y'all watch Time After Time.  She was 26 when she shot it.  She fell in love with her co-star, married him and had two gorgeous kids with him.

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

I've loved her since I saw her in "Goin' South" with Jack Nicholson...long time ago. And "Cross Creek" was another good one.  She just radiates a something wonderful. I feel like I've known her in a former life!

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

I love Cross Creek.  I also love Romantic Comedy.  I met her when she was touring to promote that movie and came here to Atlanta to do Cinema Showcase.  She was very sweet.  Then years later, I was picking up my friend Isabel at the airport, she was coming to see me from Miami.  And she told me immediately that Mary was on the plane with her kids sitting one aisle up and across from her.  So we waited around until she got off the plane and said hi to her, but didn't bug her for an autograph or anything.  She'd signed a photo of her and Malcolm from Time After Time for me when I met her before, so it seemed rude.  Lily and Charlie were probably 8 and 6 respectively at the time.  I really want to interview her someday.  My whole journey with JoA is all her fault and I really wanna tell her how amazing and wonderful it has been.

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

Wow I got behind reading these posts.  I agree, I loved the connection Adam and Helen had.  I can't wait to see them act together again!  It would be great to see!

She would be an amazing woman to interview!  I will put Time After Time on my netflix queue

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

I first saw her in Goin South (her first movie), hated the movie, but kept thinking this woman has something.  Then I saw Time After Time, and that was it, she was a star and an absolute delight on screen.  I also agree about Cross Creek, and of course Melvin and Howard.
I do also agree that she shined in Back to the Future 3.  And more recently, and in the holiday spirit, I loved her in Elf.  I only wish there had been more great screen roles for her, (but then she may not have been available for JOA, and that would have been a great loss)

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

Right, right, sho' you right, damn right, so true so true.  I fell for both Mary and Malcolm in TAT.  And David Warner too.  I was 16 and saw the movie on cable.  It's still in my top 5 to this day.  Look at them.  They were beautiful...

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

You know what, sometimes I still can't believe Mary played that woman in Gilbert Grape. She does a great job, though. It was quite a "shock" when I realized I had seen her in at least two movies before JoA and never realized it was her. LOL

Hee, if you were shocked by Gilbert Grape don't EVER see "Melvin & Howard".  You wouldn't believe that sweet little Mary Steenburgen could act that way.

She's really different in Nobody's Baby, too.  I adore that weird-ass little movie.  Probably my favorite thing Skeet Ulrich has ever done.

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

You know what, a few days ago I was zapping through German television and I happened to catch Mike's Bones ep. When it went to commercial break I changed the channel and who came on? It was Joe in Criminal Minds. That was kinda cool. LOL

Re: Random JoA Stuff...

Becky Wahlstrom is opening in a solo show in LA!

Saturday, May 5, 2012

It's been a whole lotta talk up to now... but it's finally happening. Me, all by my lonesome on a stage, which sounds like such a terrible idea in retrospect and I'll probably never do this again... (WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!) ...except Ramsey's done it twice already which makes her "winning" (grrr!) ... and my mom told me I'm funny AND pretty so that sealed the deal.

I'd love to see any or all of you there! We'll drink Margarita's in the beer garden after!

Additional performance on Fri. May 11 @8pm
Call the theater to reserve seats for either night. 10$

Dammit, I need to fly to LA! That sounds fabulous. Unfortunately, there's a couple thousand miles between me and Los Angeles. Who says being able to beam people is overrated?

I told her if she'd fly me out and house and feed me, I'd be her superfan in the front row.  And I mean it. I adore that woman.
