Re: 2012 TV/Movie Award Season

Second best part of the Oscars so far is that they remembered Gary Winick in the memorial montage.

Re: 2012 TV/Movie Award Season

Aww, went to bed early... sad  Long day today.

Here is the full list of  winners:
http://www.imdb.com/oscars/nominations/

I was kind of surprised and not surprised to see the artist won.  I was anticipating the descendants because I heard that was a better movie.  Do you think it got dibs because it was "silent" (different) and international?  My parents saw it and enjoyed it, I just couldn't help but think deep down that it kept getting such critical claim because it was silent.  I haven't seen it though so I guess I shouldn't judge a book by its cover.  Just saying, a little surprised it won straight through.

Interesting year for the movies, none of them were actually my favorite.  It think my favorite movies of the year were 'Take Shelter' and 'Drive.'  I also of course enjoyed 'Planet of the Apes.'

Re: 2012 TV/Movie Award Season

It's funny, a lot of people are saying that, just like always, they chose the "old fashioned", "safe" film for Best Picture.  I guess if they'd chosen The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, it would've been considered "edgy".

True.... they usually go for movies about real life, so I was expecting something like Moneyball or The Descendents to get it.

Me too.  Like I always say, my favorite stories are about people and what we all go through.  Interpersonal dramas, with humor and quirk.  That's what turns me on.
