OK, who's brave enough to email Gary Lundgren, director of Calvin Marshall? And what would you ask him? Here's his email if you'd like to take a shot at it: lunchpail@mac.com
Deb
PS: Before you ask where I got it, I found it on Broken Sky's website on the page for a short film he directed.

Well, I'd write, but what would we tell him? Maybe we should compile something first. Any ideas? I might mull that over today at work. If I have time, this is another day packed with meetings. And then there are still the folders from hell I gotta sort through.

I`d love to write but I have neither any idea what to write nor do I speak perfect English, so I think one of you guys should write him. Do you think we could ask for a release date?

He probably won't kow the release date. It's not exactly up to him. That would be a question for the ProdCo. But we could ask him if it's finished with post-production yet. Our questions to Gary should be more like what we want to know about the movie itself. Not can he send us pics and when is it coming out.

I wasn't asking for pictures. And sorry, but I don't know anything about producing a movie. I didn't know that directors don't know the release dates of their movies.

BTW, if you want to, you can sign up for the Broken Sky Films email list so that we'll get news about Calvin as soon as it's available. Since I already contacted them once to say that we'd like material for our site once they start publicizing the movie and they agreed, I thought it would be smart for the three of us to sign up for the email list with our c-m.com addresses. Go here: www.brokenskyfilms.com.

I tried to register, but it didn't work. An error message comes up telling me I have to "finish the suscription". Hello? I typed in my name and my email address. What do they need more? Shoe size? Weight?

Well, if you click the box where it says go back and register, it will then give you a message saying your registration was accepted and that you should soon get an email confirmation.

OK, so I went fishing for news again. None to be found so far. Did we have this particluar synopsis posted over on Melissa's board before? Because the part I've bolded below just really struck me suddenly:
Junior college student Calvin Marshall is determined that he's going to have a huge career in major league baseball. What everyone else realizes and Calvin does not is that Calvin is one of the worst ballplayers in history. When Calvin falls hard for an attractive volleyball star with a big future, he gets some hard lessons in love and life, but must face his own strengths and limitations before he can move into the future and determine the profession he's really suited for.
Wow. I've gotta watch my beautiful man play my favorite sport horribly? Maybe I'm not looking forward to this movie so much after all.
BTW, I pulled that from a Steve Zahn message board that I just found: http://www.xyzahn.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=176
They don't have any news either.

Yeah, looks like it. If the synopsis wasn't maybe exaggerating a little... And it's not that I could tell if he's a good or bad player. Deb, you need to bring me up to speed when I'm over. And, look at this: You'll get to see the beefed up body in a baseball uniform, isn't that enough to look forward to?

To me, this synopsis sounds familiar. I remember reading somewhere that Calvin isn't supposed to be a good player.
Well, I'm not that interested in baseball, maybe that's why it's not that important for me. I just wanna see Chris playing the role. Which he will do perfectly, I think.

There was another synopsis that said he wanted to be a major league ballplayer but wasn't good enough. I could live with that. It didn't say he was one of the worst players in history. That is gonna be embarrassing, folks. Damn. Well, it looks like this is going to be more of a romantic comedy than a baseball movie anyway. Guess that's OK. We get to see him fall in love and try to win the girl. That should be fun. Do we know who's playing the girl?

No, we don't. There is still not much cast information on the imdb page. So far we have this list:
Credited cast:
Dominik García-Lorido
Chris Marquette .... Calvin Marshall
Brendan Miller .... Caselli
Steve Zahn

Well, ok, what if the "attractive vollyball player" isn't a girl?

No, it's in the small snippet that Deb posted: "When Calvin falls hard for an attractive volleyball star..." Eyes open, Anne! I also wonder who that might be....... Who do we want it to be, wouldn't that be a more interesting question? I'd have to think about that.

As long as she's not some stereotypical stick-figure dumb blonde, I'm cool with whoever they pick. I just wish we could get more friggin' info on this movie. I'm almost fed-up enough to email the director. Almost.

Here's an e-mail exchange with Gary Lundgren, the director of the movie:
Hi Tina,
We're on the road to making Calvin Marshall soon. Probably early next year.
Chris is still attached to play the title role. We think it's a great character for him -- funny, driven, endearing.
there's been a few $$$ hang ups along the way. Very difficult to raise money for independent films. But we're getting close.
Check back in a few months. Your website looks great BTW.

Hi Gary,
We found your e-mail address on the Broken Sky website. We thought we'd drop you a line because we've put together a Chris Marquette website and we are very interested in any information you might be able to share with us regarding your film, Calvin Marshall, especially since there is so little actual information anywhere on the Internet about it. Anything you might be able to give us would be awesome, but production stills or any other picture material would be most appreciated.
If there is anything we can do to help promote the movie, please let us know. We wrote to Broken Sky a few months back to ask if there was anything we could do in this regard and we were told to check back at a later date. We'd love to help spread the word about the film, if you'll pass along any info that we can share. Is there any word on a planned release date yet?
You can find our website at www.chris-marquette.com, come by and take a look if you like. It's currently the best resource on the web with information on Chris Marquette and his work.
Thanks,
Tina
Soooo.... does that mean they haven't actually even shot the movie yet??? I mean, Chris buffed up for it and everything!

Yep, Deb also says it looks like they haven't even shot it yet. Damn! Let's hope Chris won't be too busy next year to do it. And now he'll have to buff up all over again.

Man, I'm pretty disappointed that Calvin isn't even shot yet. Mainly because due to bad information, we thought is was in the can and so we've been expecting this movie way sooner than we'll see it, by years.
Gary, if you happen by the site again, I'm not speaking ill of you or Broken Sky. I'm a screenwriter who has yet to get a film off the ground. I know the process of producing an indie sucks. I was just really, really looking forward to this movie, as a huge baseball fan and of course as a Dorquette. My sincere hope is that it gets underway as soon as possible. If you can share anything with us in terms of plot tidbits, or anything really, we'd so appreciate it. My big question is can we expect a baseball comedy or a romantic comedy? Either way, the Dorquettes are down.
Count on us, we'll be there for you.
