Re: Randomness

one of our holocaust survivors at the museum passed away... sad  I called five other survivors to let them know.  Volunteering at the Dallas Holocaust Museum has been an interesting experience.  I may just go and stand in the back in honor of her and in remembrance....

Re: Randomness

I'm fostering a new dog.  She's a Potcake like my goddoggie, Bodhi.  But she's nothing like him.  She's little.  Only about 20 lbs.  Bodhi's about 70 lbs.  She was found feral on Grand Bahama Island 2 years ago.  Her name's Polly and she's a sweetie...

Re: Randomness

What a cute dog, Deb!

So, I don't know how much I've told here, but I had a couple of job interviews over the last few days. The first one was for a museum near here, and I had this interview via Skype, that was a completely new experience, but it went great. In the end I didn't get the job, though. Although I was really interested it wasn't that big of a tragedy because it would have been only for a couple of months anyway.
The next thing was last week and it was something of information meeting (or whatever you call that) for amazon and tomorrow is the real job interview. I have never considered working for amazon and although I am not sure if I can manage but I definitely want to try. The only thing is that the job is supposed to start in mid september and I have a short trip to the northern part of Germany planned in late September/early October. I guess I'll have to see how it will work out. Wish me luck, please!

Re: Randomness

Thanks Mel - I'm contemplating attending and just standing in the back in rememberance of her and what she's done and been through.  Only one survivor knew her and she was thankful I called and told her.  but she lived in austin.  I might go on her behalf.

Deb - cutie pie indeed!  Still working on the dog, parents are communicating, it takes time... if u come across any small good apartment dogs that need a home email me.

Domestic - congrats on the interviews.  Working for amazon!  Interesting ideas!  I like it.  Good luck prayers sent your way.... wink

Re: Randomness

Well, it is not 100 percent sure yet, but they invited me to an "orientation day" and the invitation said I shall sign my working contract there and get my security vest and shoes. I guess that means I'll have a job soon.  smile

Re: Randomness

How fun and I see that you are going to Marilyn Manson/Rob zombie tour.  That should be interesting in itself.  I'm not a fan of Marilyn's music myself, but I have heard he is actually a very intelligent person and so is Rob Zombie.  His movies creep me out which shows he knows what he is doing!  big_smile There was one in particular (his last horror film I think a long time ago) that staid with me for days, can't remember the name... but my siblings and I loved it because being a horror film it still felt so real simultaneously that you actually felt bad for the criminals (using term loosely there).  That should be an interesting event!

Having trouble sleeping these days, anybody have any routines that helps them sleep besides meds?  Meds aren't helping in this case....

I'm a raging insomniac myself.  It's touch.  But I did read an article yesterday that had lots of suggestions.  There's lots of stuff here:

Re: Randomness

Ya Ive never been yet to see Manson in concert. My favorite musician. I just always lived in Hawaii and no bands ever came there. I got an autograph from MM too from a guy at a record show in Georgia that worked for Nothing Records.

Re: Randomness

Cool Mel, didn't realize you were from Hawaii!  My sister is going there on her honeymoon!

Thanks deb for the link, definitely had some useful tips.  Some I already knew and a few knew things.   There are three new things I'm going to try to implement: light yoga poses, magnesium and calcium and that tea in the herbal remedy they were suggesting.  I've tried valerian root and I can't stand the smell!

Re: Randomness

It gives me weird dreams and activates my restless leg.  What happens is over a period of time my body gets immune to all those sleeping drugs: melatonin, ambien, Lunesta.  I've tried everything, and after about a month, they all stop working.

The good thing is though I slept last night for 12 hours straight with no medication!  I tried some of the yoga stretches and that really helped.  Wanted to go to yoga early this morning but i could barely move I was so tired!  But at least I got some sleep!

Re: Randomness

Hey, that's great.  And I know what you mean about getting immune to things.  I used to have restless leg too.  The one thing that helps me sleep the most is Xanax.  But they wont give you that just for insomnia.  It's an anti-anxiety drug.  But I can't take it during the day, it make me too sleepy.  So I just used it for sleep.  I inherited a big bottle from my mom that lasted me over a year, but I haven't been able to get anymore.  They really oughta recognize the fact that it works for insomnia in people who do not have acute anxiety.

Re: Randomness

You're so right Deb.  I did take xanax and it worked like a dream for insomnia but its really not suppose to be how its used. Unfortunately I couldn't ever use it during the day.  The L-Theanine worked, but it made me really really hungry! ha ha.  So I'm wondering what herb it comes from! lol.  Doing research now....

I think the main problem is that my natural sleep time is much later than the actual time I need to sleep.  Therefore I sleep great on the weekends with nothing but can't sleep unless I take something during the week since I have to be in bed at 9/9:30 really to be functional the next day.

I've posted this video before but it just makes me laugh!

Re: Randomness

I don't have much experience with sleep meds, but have you tried Benadryl? It's usually sold OTC as an antihistamine, but it also makes you sleepy. In Germany it's actually not used as antihistamine anymore, only as sleeping pill.

Re: Randomness

Yeah, I've used Benadryl for that.  It helps me sometimes.  Lindsey, I have the same problem.  I'm a night owl.  It's hard to go to sleep at night and hard to wake up in the morning.   sad
