The 2012/2013 fall season

So, what new shows are you guys looking forward to? I gave the pilot of Revolution 2012 a shot tonight, but I gotta say I wasn't particularly impressed. There was nothing original about it. Seemed like a tender-cooked mixture of FlashForward and Falling Skies. Because I like Billy Burke, I'm gonna watch the second episode before I decide whether to give this one a pass or not. My prediction is that it won't last more than one season anyway.

I will also be watching the pilot of The CW's Beauty and the Beast reboot, but only for the fact that Peter Outerbridge is in it. There was something else about firemen that I was going to check out, I think it was called Chicago Fire. Not that I expect much from that one, but I've always had a thing for those kinds of shows. So let's see.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

I liked Revolution, actually.  I'm most looking forward to Nashville and Elementary.  Because of the casts.  Other than that, not much else.  I am going to give Last Resort a chance because the reviews have been great.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

I like Sherlock way too much to even want to consider watching Elementary. And there's no one in the cast who especially caught my interest, so I'm gonna give that one a wide berth just out of principle. I'm gonna have to look into what Nashville and Last Resort are about.

I also watched Political Animals, the 6-ep miniseries on USA that aired earlier this summer. I'm not into TV shows about political intrigue, but with Sebastian Stan, Sigourney Weaver and Ciaran Hinds, I knew I had to give it a try. And surprisingly, I really liked it! Ciaran's character had the best lines!

I completely missed Political Animals.  And I really wanted to see it.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

One of the things that put me off most about Revolution was that totally over the top fight scene where Billy Burke single-handedly slaughtered what felt like 50 militia guys. That was so overdone, and I actually groaned when I watched it. But I'm going to give the second episode a shot before I make a final judgment on whether to keep watching or not.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

I enjoyed that, actually.  He was some kind of elite military special forces guy or something.  As was Monroe.  We'll learn more about what those two have done together as we go along.

Another reason I'm digging it is the casting of David Lyons as Monroe.  He's a great actor and hopefully will be more than a stock villain.  I like that he looks so Roman, and his compound is so Roman.  That's a cool touch.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

Oh yeah, I was trying to remember where I knew him (Monroe) from, and I still haven't figured it out (and I'm too lazy to look it up now).

Also, not to rain on anyone's parade, but this made me smile and it echoes my sentiments. smile

But do let me know if you liked Elementary. It's not like I can't understand where you're coming from. Cause, you know, I keep watching the Being Human remake mainly for the cast -- something that most of the UK version fans despise people like me for. tongue

David Lyons was on ER the last few seasons.

Game of Thrones. I've become so much addicted to that show, I didn't even know that was possible. And there are only 10 episodes each year!  neutral

Uhm, Game of Thrones is not a new 2012 show, is it? Or am I missing something? I've heard a lot of great things about it from lots of friends. Keep nagging, maybe I'll watch it some day (just like Fringe).

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

It's not a new show - 2nd season - great plot, setting and characters- a little gruesome and too much nudity for me though.  I want to read the books!  Everyone in my family is talking about them.

I'm really into Scandal - check it out on ABC.  Great cast.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

Revolution got a full season pick-up.  I agree that it's not a great show.  Certainly no better than any of the other similar shows I've rejected in the last few years, for whatever reason.  Thing is, I'm really enjoying this cast.  And that's almost always what it's about for this acting geek.  big_smile

Sorry, I wasn't aware that I was only allowed to post new shows. I haven't looked at new ones yet, I am pretty busy with old ones yet. I thought we could post any show we are looking forward to.

I'm reading the fifth book now and I am loving the series so much, you should definitely read it, Lindsay. Can't wait to read the rest and see it all come alive on screen. This show is so full of insanely talented people. lol I can't believe I met some of them last weekend!

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

I just watched Walking Dead last weekend and am hooked. Going to record the 3rd season and watch the 2nd one this week on dvd.  Have you guys seen it?  It's AWESOME.  It looked a little cheasy to me at first but once I got in the mood with the characters I was hooked.

I also really want to see Breaking Bad - I know its not knew, but I saw a preview on it on the Walking Dead dvds and it looks awesome and I just love Bryan Cranston.

To be honest guys I'm really liking 666 Park Avenue smile  And of course Revenge!  Nothing like two good Night Soaps for a Sunday Night!

Oooh, Deb - the new American Horror Story Asylum starts Wednesday!  wink

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

I've been watching a lot of Hollywood heights these past couple of weeks. I didn't realize it was a soap opera until I was about 6 episodes in. it kinda rocks and makes you care about the characters. I love the music people. hate the scheming idiots. some stuff is too obvious. I started watching because James Franco is in it, but I really keep watching because I love the Duran boys and Tate girs interact big_smile really is my guilty pleasure. lol. 21 episode to go!

Interesting, I didn't realize James was in it - he's such an odd ball. Lol. But that's why I like him smile  I'll check it out!  wink

Vampire Diaries still is rocking all television in my opinion.  If your not watching you really should.  This past third season was incredible!

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

Nashville is really good so far.  The best part of the first two eps would have to be the song that ends each of them.

From the pilot (this one's just amazing)...

From S1E2...

And I don't like country music at all, except for a few alt country artists from the 90's.

Mel - Degrassi for 12 seasons?  can't believe it. I guess it did premiere when I graduated from high school.  Many how time flies - think about that with CSI too, and somehow it still seems good to me after being on for so long.

Recording Nashville - looking forward to that, Arrow, and Vampire Diaries - those are my sunday afternoon treats. smile

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

Lindsey, after you watch the Nashville pilot, tell me how you feel about that last song.  I'm afraid I might develop a crush on this Sam Palladio fella who plays Gunnar. He's sweet and kinda awkward.  Beautiful voice too.

He's the monkey in the middle...
