Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

Deb - did you watch American Horror Story?  What did you think/  Very curious.... we'll see where this goes....Like that Tim Minear wrote  the first episode.

I know it may sound cheasy but I actually like Beauty & the Beast. A supernatural crime/svu type show similar to supernatural but with Girls instead of boys.  Great role for Kristen Kruek.

Vampire Diaries is still AWESOME.  I enjoy Elementary too.

I know there are lots of changes to 'The Office' - but so far I'm enjoying it.  I miss B.J. Novak though - he was one of my favorite writers on the series.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

Oh yeah, I watched.  I liked it a lot.  I think this season's going to be way crazier than the first.  And now they say Dylan McDermott's coming back for a guest spot too.

I'm also enjoying Elementary.  Especially the running joke that Holmes can't keep his shirt on.  LOL & YUM.

I'm getting into it Deb --- I like it elementary too wink I'm especially liking 666 park avenue and beauty and the beast. I know they are more night time soaps but pretty entertaining.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

I'm so loving the gay themed sitcoms this fall big_smile New Normal and Partners are so funny and good! big_smile especially Partners. it stars the gay guy from Ugly Betty and David Krumholtz as lifetime best friends who are partners in an architect firm. DK's Joe is in a relationship with Sophia Bush's Ali, and Michael Urie's Louis in a relationship with Brandon Routh's Wyatt. everyone is so freaking adorable and sexy in this show. Brandon Routh looks nothing like he did as Daniel Shaw on Chuck. he's completely loveable in this. I hated him in Chuck. lol. Partners in general: I love the dialogue! so great! big_smile

I also checked out Last resort today. It's pretty well made. kinda scary. crazy. kinda freaks me out to think that the Americans actually could screw up like that judging by what kind of moroons they've got running for office.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

On last resort- I think we can all agree and know from personal experience in some way or another that there are some DEFINITE morons running businesses and it is scary.  That's what made 'The Office' so popular when it came out, because people could identify with how ridiculous the boss was.

So far I'm LOVING Arrow.  Pilot really caught my attention.  I also REALLY enjoyed Revolution, more than anticipated.  My guilty pleasure shows this year are still Beauty & the Beast, Revenge, and 666 Park Avenue.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

I keep mixing Arrow and Beauty and Beast in my head all the time. probably because I expect to see Kristin "Lana Lang" Kreuk in the same show with Green arrow. lol. I think both new shows are good but not quite up to their full potential yet. even though I'm not very familiar with the origin stories of Green arrow, the new show kinda throws me off and makes me wanna scream out "this isn't right". big_smile I'm probably just pissed not to see that hunkalicious Justin Hartley in the main role. god, that guy was my favorite part of Smallville.

Beauty and Beast is pretty good once you get past how stiff and stupid the "product of secret goverment testing"-storyline sounds like in the beginning. it honestly had me slapping myself for using a same type of thing in one of my own stories, seeing how unrealistic and idiotic it looked on screen. but it will probably grow into it once the story gets more flesh around itself. smile

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

oh, and talking of Justin Hartley, I love him in Emily Owens MD! big_smile *drooooooooool* I don't know what it is with him. I don't usually go for that obvious hunk-look or blondes. and he has acting talent. Emily Owens MD looks good to me. it's kinda like Grey's anatomy meets Gilmore girls. Emily Owens is like a fast-talking, ranting/rambling girl with confidence issues getting to work in a new hospital where the romance blooms in the sidelines. I just hate that "hospitals are like high school"-tag oline they're selling it with. almost had me ignore the whole thing but then I saw Justin's name and had to check it out. big_smile

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

I watched Emily Owens, and felt like it was too much of a teen version of Grey's Anatomy, so I opted not to watch as there are just too many other shows to watch.

I am enjoying the Mindy Project

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

Even though it's basically just a pepped up version of Third Watch, I've really fallen in love with Chicago Fire. Interesting characters, story arcs and of course lots of eye candy. I like what they've done there. Strangely enough, I also like Nashville, although I'm not even a fan of country music. I guess good drama works on many levels. And my guilty pleasure has to be the new Beauty and the Beast. I mean, it's cheesey, and it's clearly aimed at a teen audience, but I just love the angsty UST (go figure), and there's plenty eye candy there too. They got picked up for a full season just recently.

Last Resort is gonna be cancelled after 13 eps, I hear. Can't say I'm that bummed. I'm still watching it, but not with a whole lot of fervor. Which counts for Revolution as well. Not sure if they're gonna be picked up, but I'm not gonna be sad if they don't.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

I don't like country music either, but Nashville's pretty great.  If not for Connie Britton, I never would've given it a chance.  And I totally love it.  even like some of the songs.  Didn't expect that.  The best one so far is the one Scarlett and Gunnar sang at the end of the first ep.

I tried Last Resort, but it didn't stick.

I think I posted here a while back that Revolution got a full season pick-up and it's doing quite well in the ratings.  Entertainment Weekly evehn did a big multi-page write-up about it a few issues back.  In fact, I've been lucky this year.  All three of my favorites this season have gotten full season pick-ups: Nashville, Revolution & Elementary.  And my old favorites, American Horror Story and Sons of Anarchy have been renewed for future seasons.  AHS will be getting a 3rd season & SoA got a 6th & 7th season extension.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

Yeah, I like some of the Nashville songs too. Didn't download anything, but somehow to me it doesn't sound like the corny country music you think of when you hear the term. Or is that just me? I think Hayden Pani-whatever is pretty great too. (Sorry, can't spell her name as far as I can throw it, and I'm too lazy to look it up.)

Full season for Revolution, hm. Well, I suppose it's good for them. To me it still seems like such a cheap rip-off of Falling Skies and FlashForward. I'd much rather see a second season of FF than more of Revolution. Not fair!

I've also grown to become really fond of Homeland. Hope they get a third season. Not too thrilled with the fifth season of Fringe, though. I hear that they wrote season four as if it was their last, and it was quite surprising they even got a fifth season (or half of one, anyway). And somehow it shows, because the fifth just somehow seems like they didn't really think it through and are scrambling for a good story arc to wrap up the mythology. If you ask me, it would probably have been better to just be done with the whole thing after season four.

Oh, and if you have Reelz, I can really recommend for you to look out for reruns of Bomb Girls. Six-episode Canadian show about women building bombs during WWII, which is so far my top pick of new shows of 2012. And not just because Outerbridge is in it. (Actually he plays a bit of a jerk.) Luckily they got a 2nd season too, and twelve episodes at that.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

You're right about the Nashville songs.  They are way better than average for the genre.

I adore Homeland.  I never thought I'd like it as much as I do.  There aren't enough words to praise that cast.  One of the best on TV.  I think it's already renewed for a 3rd season.  I seem to remember they announced that right after they swept the Emmys, but I could be mistaken.

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

It's really good, and Deb is right, the acting is fantastic. By everyone, but most of all by Damian Lewis. The Emmys were well earned. Strangely enough, I started watching it when it first aired, but for some reason stopped after episode 1x03 or 1x04. Took me almost a year to make a second attempt. But when I did, I got into it quickly, and now I can't wait for Mondays when I can watch the latest episode.

I never liked Damian Lewis very much before this show, but he totally won me over.  He may have already sewed up his next Emmy just in the last couple of eps.

I'm not even sure I've seen Damian Lewis in anything before Homeland. But if I did, doesn't look like he made much of an impression. But he sure did in Homeland!

Re: The 2012/2013 fall season

He had a show on NBC for a while called Life that didn't last.  I watched a little of it, but didn't care for it.  He was also in Band of Brothers, which I watched because of Scotty G.

A new crime show in the mix! I just watched the pilot for The Following and it was pretty darn good. Very creepy, twisted and sickening too, but still some very good TV.
