Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

Hey everyone! The Beautiful Ordinary will have its World Premiere at Film Independent's 2007 Los Angeles Film Festival, opening on June 21.

It has been selected as one of only eight films in the Narrative Competition (out of a total of 230 films). :applause:

Thanks everyone! It's my pleasure. Lovin' the avatar, Deb. wink

Not sure if I'll make the trip out for it -- I'm a bit festivaled out at this point. I'll actually be in LA all next week. Hopefully it will play the East Coast at some point.

I've been sharing that pic all over the net, Larry.  Hope you don't mind.  Women are drooling from coast to coast.  LOL.  It's just gorgeous.  Maybe you should've watermarked it.  big_smile

Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

Of course!  I even sent it to Nick and told him you took it.  I keep trying to get more info out of him about his casting ideas for Going After Cacciato, and lobbying for Chris to stay in the running for a part.  The book is amazing.  Whoever gets the lead is going to be a movie star.

Heh. Funny you should mention that. I literally just got a message from an actor who wants to get ahold of Nick to read for the part. Puts me in a weird position, but I guess it goes with the territory!

If only I really had that kind of power... big_smile

Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

I can certainly believe it's going to be a highly coveted role.  I just hope whoever gets it really deserves what's going to happen to them.  Have you read this book?

Back in January, Chris said Nick was going to give him the script to read in February, but he claimed he didn't know what role Nick was considering him for.  Yeah, right.  LOL!  Unless Nick changes the characters rather drastically, there's only one part Chris is even remotely suited for, and by golly it just happens to be Paul Berlin, the lead.  He's got the sensitivity and goofy charm.  He's got this beautiful stillness and a gift for portraying fear and anguish.  He would be remarkable.

And I can totally see Shawn Hatosy as Stink Harris, all bravado and kink, until things get really scary.  Keeping Nick's sensibilities and those guys in mind as I read the book, I could see the movie in my head.  No matter who he casts, I will be there.  I can't wait to see what he does with it.

Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

I haven't read the book. But you never know how much it will change. I just saw a film at Tribeca which was based on a book. In the movie, the lead character is in high school. In the book, he is in 5th grade. At his IMDb board, for almost a year, people have been posting "how can he be playing a 5th grader?!?" It was kind of funny. I was the one who had to explain. lol

Re: Remember The Daze (formerly The Beautiful Ordinary)

Oh yeah, I know.  But the way Nick talked about how he's been trying to make the movie for ten years, I kinda get the feeling he loves that book.  And it's already very cinematic.  I'm hoping he sticks pretty close to the story.  We'll see eventually.

We conducted an email interview with Chris that I just posted today.   I asked him about it again and he said there's no word on what's happening with the movie yet.  I guess he's still in the running.  If there was no chance he might get to do it, he'd tell us and spare us the agony of waiting to hear.

Great find, Deb! It looks indeed like a cool movie. Chris was very enamored with it as well, if I remember correctly. Btw, he looks freeeeeeeeeeaky! Caps to follow tomorrow if I can grab a few decent ones.
