Hi Irina and welcome to our humble board. Hope you like it here. Anne, Deb and I have known each other for a while, so don't mind our craziness. Chime right in. Where are you from if you're watching JoA right now?

Re: hi

Romania, wow. My dad's from there. Episode nine is ... St. Joan, right? Woooo, powerful stuff comes up in that episode!
And, did you enjoy Huff? It's the total opposite of JoA, right? But I love his performance ... it's cool to see his "dark side". LOL
And hey, you should definitely check out "The Tic Code" and "American Gun" if you'll have the chance to, this is great stuff, too. smile

From Romania, huh? I used to work with a company who have a branch in Romania and I was there in 2005. I visited Timisoara and Bucharest. Where are you from? Your English is very good, btw.

I also downloaded all the JoA episode. Such much good stuff in those. I love that show. Made me fall in love with Chris's work in the first place. Which Huff episode did you see? He's really best in "Sweet Release". In the other two episodes he only has a few scenes and in "Tapping The Squid" he's not exactly nice to look at. You can download the clips with all his scenes in our media section if you don't wanna download whole episodes. I started to actually watch Huff after I saw the Chris episodes, such a cool show. But of course they had to cancel it after season two. sad Just like JoA...

Chris is kinda geekish in JoA? No way!!! He might be kinda geekish in Freddy vs. Jason, or maybe even Girl Next Door. But in JoA he was just adorable and sweet.

And if you've only seen JoA and Huff so far with him in it, you still have a loooot to catch up on. He has such a lot to offer!

Re: hi

Yeah, my dad's from Temesburg. (Spelling?) He grew up there, but he's actually German. Can't explain it in English, sorry. But he often talks about Romania. LOL

PS: TeeJay's right, your English is indeed very good. Do they show JoA in English in Romania? In Germany every foreign TV show is dubbed into German. I hate that. I rather watch all my favorite TV shows in English. It's so much better and it's a great opportunity to improve my English skills.

Re: hi

yes, fortunatelly we still have all shows in their original language. i hate dubbed films. i think it ruins a lot of the charm of the movies. those actors tried really hard to talk in a certain way, so it's a pitty to take that away from the viewers.
i really can't figure out what town you speak of, but there a lots of german people in certain parts of romania. and some towns are also known with a german name.
i'm downloading american gun. i hope it will work, 'cause sometimes it gets stuck along the way.
thanks for the compliments on my english. i haven't taken lessons in a long time so my grammar started to suck.

Hey, and don't worry about the grammar. My grammar sucks often, too. But as long as people can understand me, it's just fine. wink

Anne, Temeschwar is actually Timisoara, the town that IFE Romania is located in. I've been there once, but unfortunately I haven't really had much time to see anything there. It seemed like a nice city, though. I certainly liked it much better than Bucharest, which was just ugly. At least the parts that I saw. What city do you live in, Irina? I heard Constanta must be really nice, but I've never been.

Yeah, the dubbing really does suck. I hate it too (oh, I'm German as well, by the way). That's why I'm so glad that with DVDs and the internet we now have access to undubbed stuff as well.

As to American Gun, I hope you're downloading the right version. There's a film by the same title from 2003 (I think) that doesn't have anything to do with the one Chris is in. If the one you're downloading starts with something about shooting people at a school, you've got the right one.

Oh, Anne? I got the Sisterhood book for you today. Unfortunately they didn't have any of those books you wanted for your mom. It looks as if one of them is only available as hardcover and the others are out of print. But we're gonna check another bookstore before I come back home. I also bought the Anna Nalick CD for you today, as well as the new Evanescence CD for myself. Good stuff! smile Can't believe I blew about $100 in one day. yikes

Irina, can I ask how old you are? I'm 30... Old fart, but not as old as Deb. big_smile

Really. Didn't know that. I think my Dad calls it Temeswar, because I never heard Timisoara coming out of his mouth, but I'm not exactly sure. In fact I never really cared about that. LOL

Oh cool that you bought the Sisterhood books and the CDs (can I have a youknowwhat of the Evanescense CD? wink). Don't worry about the books for my mom, it isn't that important. I just wanted to know if they would have been still available because she really wanted to read them in English, but if they aren't it's okay, too.

Oh and I'm 23, just for the record.

The German name for it is Temeswar or Temeschwar, that's probably why he calls it that. Timisoara is the Romanian name for it (right?). And you pronounce the 's' in it like a 'sh'. Just like the second 't' in Constanta has a little thingie below, so you pronounce it 'Constantsa'. There's a few things I learned when I was over there. smile

That's great, Irina, that AG downloaded okay. I hope you like it. Deb and I just rewatched the movie on DVD the other day. It's wonderful to see Chris all in crystal clear picture with great sound. We only had a sucky video tape copy before. If you like AG, then I recommend you download Just Friends and The Girl Next Door next. Those are the two main comedic roles he's done, and he's great in both of them. He's much goofier in Just Friends, but when it comes to the overall movie, I like GND much better. In terms of TV shows, I guess the guest role he did on Miracles is also worth checking out. Very agonizing stuff. He did that one back in 2003.

It's such a shame that Strong Medicine is not available online, but at least you can check him out in some of the clips that we have on our website. Oh, Anne? I reuploaded the Gunshot Wedding clips, they are in a little better quality now. Not great, but they're halfway decent now, I should think.

Okay, I need to have some breakfast and then I'm gonna paint Deb's Dorquette shirt. Irina, if you wanna see the full range to our madness and obsession, go and check out the History of the Dorquettes thread in the Announcements section. big_smile

Irina, Congratualations on downloading AG. You'll love it, believe me. It's my alltime favorite performance of Chris. And hey, don't forget to check out our video clip archive of Chris' work! You definitely have to check out JF and GND. I second what Tina said, GND is much better, but JF is funny too. It's a nice movie when you need to watch something you don't have to think about. LOL

Well, the thing with Chris is the longest determination I have had to far. I'm kinda the same, I can't stick long with things. But it seems that Chris has changed that a little. smile

Re: hi

well, i didn't really know where this post belongs. so i decided to put it here.
so i am now to ep 5 from season 2 with the downloading. i have a very weird felling, because on one hand i would like it to download faster, but on the other hand if it would than i would finish it and than what do i do. and i also have a dilema , maybe you can offer an advice. i know that on a certain episode adam is going to cheat on joan. and i don't know if to watch that or not. since the series doesn't  have a proper ending anyway maybe i should just stop watching before it gets ugly and unresolved anyway. i hope i managed to explain myself. waiting for your opinion.:/

Re: hi

My suggestion: WATCH IT. I know, Trial & Error is the most horrible episode of the whole show, but it's also one of the best episodes, because the acting is just BRILLIANT. I know your feelings about watching it ... I had kinda the same. I couldn't watch it for a long time, because I did know what Adam would do ... but then one day I watched it ... and I was overwhelmed with emotion ... I didn't know if I wanted to hate or hug Adam. I mean, what he did was absolutely the most horrible thing he ever did, but ... it was ADAM!!! And he lost his Jane, so you just have to be sorry for him. Somehow. I can't describe the feeling I had when I watched the episode. You have to feel this yourself. And the performance is absolutely brilliant, really. Both, Chris and Amber, did an absolutely GREAT job on that episode.

Ok, I'll stop with the admiration now. LOL Watch it. You'll see it.

Re: hi

Anne said it great, TeeJay and I agree. It's just something you need to experience for yourself if you love this show. It's great acting on both Amber's and Chris's part. One of the most agonizing performances ever.

Re: hi

i just reached ep 15 from season 2 of joan. i have this very strange felling that the writer just slowly got borred with the show, or maybe she just had a better thing to do, who knows? but after the ep with judith dieing and the one where is luke's birthday, episodes that are so intense, everything just kind of , i don't know how to say it. it just changes, and not for the better. instead of making joan kiss roger, or introducing stevie ( yeak!), why didn't they just showed us more of adam and joan's relationship if they just wanted to make things interesting and didn't know how. i'm pissed, sorry!

Re: hi

Hey, you deserve to be pissed. Because you're kinda right. Ep 15 is Romancing The Joan, right? Well, I loved that episode for some scenes and hated it for others. (I just looooove the last shot with them having that great, sensual kiss, filmed through the collage. So beautiful.) I didn't like Roger either (I think we just discussed that somewhere in the JoA section recently, didn't we?). In fact, back when I first watched the episodes, I kinda loved them all, but now, reflecting on what happened to the show and all the things you never really paid attention to when you watched the episodes for the very first time, I can see so many flaws in season two, especially with regard to the Adam/Joan arc and all the manufactured conflict and jealousy issues they brought in.

Irina, I'm curious to hear what you think of the next episode. Deb and I just watched it again two or so weeks ago (together) and had some more discussion about this one scene in particular. You'll know what I mean when I say: camper.

I don't know if you've read the interview Chris gave us, but he talked about how they wanted to make the show more like The O.C. What you mentioned is all part of that, I guess. And, no, we didn't like it either. hmm

Re: hi

Oh yeah, RTJ is a very good episode. But I also didn't like Roger. How dared he to kiss Joan! Grrr!!! mad
I was kinda okay with Stevie, because I knew that Adam loved Joan, so I had to grin a little about her jelousy actually. wink

And I still don't see the sense in turning JoA into The OC. In my eyes it's a crap show, sorry. There are so many similar shows like The OC, why wanted they another one? They should have realized that Joan was a marvel between all that TV crap.
