Strong Medicine

I'm pretty excited about Gunshot Wedding tonight.  Woohoo!  Finally.  Only took about a year to get a chance to tape it.  I'm about to head out to lunch and buy a blank tape.  I'll probably post after I watch it.  You know, unless it sucks or something, which it won't.  Wish me no problems like cable signal failure or power outages.  I don't think I could take it if I missed it for a fourth time!

Re: Strong Medicine

Man, I wish we had a way to put these eps on DVD. Deb, can't we go rent the DVDs when I'm over there? Do your DVD rentals offer things like Strong Med on DVD? But by then, we'll be lucky if season two is out. So far there's only s1.

Re: Strong Medicine

We can make a copy of my tape when you're here and you can covert it to DVD like you did American Gun if it's worth it, can't you?  Then you and Anne can have your own copy. That would be the easiest thing, right?  Most rental stores probably wouldn't carry it.  They only seem to have the season sets of really popular shows like Sopranos, Lost, 24 , Queer As Folk, Six feet Under, stuff like that.  Might be able to get it through Netflix, but you're right, only S1 is even out yet, so what's the point?

I'll tell you guys all about it later tonight, or maybe tomorrow.  Doubt I'll feel like writing very much at 2:30 in the morning.

Re: Strong Medicine

HE IS BEAUTIFUL, PART 2!

TeeJay, you're gonna love the hair when he first shows up at about the 38 minute mark.  It's not slicked back at that point.  It's just kind of James-ish, maybe not quite that short.  I think he's gonna be in at least three scenes, from what I've seen so far and from the two pics we have from the ep.

More after the show.

Re: Strong Medicine

The second scene is PRICELESS! One of those patented Marc/Lu talks.  He doesn't say very much but he's incredibly cute in this scene. He smiles almost all the way through the ep. TeeJay... in this scene I see Adam in his tux in The Haircut.  He's wearing a really nice one here, with long tails.

The third scene is the wedding and Marc pretty much drags Lu in.  She's not having second thoughts about marrying Jonas. She's reluctant to leave her old neighborhood behind to live with the rich folks.  The wedding is really beautiful actually and Chris is amazing as Marc walks Lu down the aisle so proudy. It's just in the way he makes eye contact with certain people and the emotions that play on his face.  And then the priest asks, who represents the family in blessing this marriage and he says, "I do."  Just watched it again and it give me chills.

I've gotta get this into your hands, guys!  It is so worth it.  The screen caps would be fantastic!  If I send you a copy of the tape, can you get it converted to DVD?

Re: Strong Medicine

Yes, sure I can get it to DVD. Actually, Aldi (one of our all-purpose stores--you'll remember, Deb, because you've got one in Atlanta too) has a DVD recorder next week. I would love love love to buy it, but it's 300 EUR. I wasn't planning on spending my money on anything "big" before my trip to Atlanta. Now I'm tempted again. Because if I have to go to Ralf's again, I'll have to take my VCR too. His isn't that good. Baaaaahhhh, what am I gonna do??? Guess I should check my finances.

So, yeah, sure, go ahead and send the tape, that would be totally cool. I'd love to see this. Plus we could put this stuff on the website since no one else has it. I'd so love to watch it!!!!

Re: Strong Medicine

That's an awful lot of money.  Is that the cheapest you can get?  I'll send the tape next week.  Maybe you should drag the VCR this time.  Do you cant me to dub any of the other Strong Med stuff you saw while you were here?

Of course, as usual, this appearance is not super-long, but the second scene is a decent length.  And the caps from it would be awesome because he's not talking a lot and there's a lot going on with the facial expressions.  You'll love it.

And now, I'm off to bed.

Re: Strong Medicine

If you're gonna send a tape, put as many Chris SM eps on it as possible, please. Preferably the later ones. I can dub all of that. And then make awesome vidcaps, if the quality is good enough. What I'd really like to have is Body Mass Increase and Goodbye/Rest In Peace. And the one that's about this guy hitting and molesting his girlfriend and Marc tries to protect her. What was her name? Trina? Treena? Can't remember what that one's called.  Anything else would be great.

Re: Strong Medicine

Weights & Measures.  So OK, your tape will include:

Weights and Measures
Goodbye Slash
Body Mass Increase
& Gunshot Wedding

In that chronological order.  Do you want the one with the wet dream conversation too?  I could fit 6 eps on one tape.

Just put two other eps with Chris on there that you like a lot where he has a bit more exposure. I trust your judgement.

Re: Strong Medicine

And just how strange is it that we are the first people to put these clips online? That video tape Deb made (thank you!!!) had to make it across the Altantic for me to turn it into computerized video clips and upload them. We've been waiting to see Chris in this episode for how long? A year now? And now look at us being the ones to supply the Dorquette community with another gorgeous looking, deep-rumbly voice Chris. Somehow Nicole and/or Melissa should have done this ages ago.

But let's not complain. We should be bouncing instead of yammering. We've got grown-up Marc to look at now. And I love him in that tux.

For your information, clip 1 is around 3.5 MB, clip 2 14 MB and clip 3 10 MB. Susanna, you still have dial-up, right? Man, I don't know how I could live without DSL!

Now, please, can we see Calvin Marshall be released? Or Fanboys? Hm. I'm getting greedy. But can you blame me?

Oh, and just FYI: I will work on making clips from his other SM episodes that Deb put on the tape. I think there are three or four more. smile

Re: Strong Medicine

Yes, the eps I mentioned above are on the tape.  I'm only sorry that I couldn't find the wet dream ep.  That's really cute.  But anyway, yes!  I love his GSW scenes!  He's just so beautiful and elegant in that tux.  And the expressions on his face in the second scene are utterly priceless!

Re: Strong Medicine

I think I need to say a word or two more about "Gunshot Wedding". I can't get enouth of that second scene with him and Lu. He smiles and chuckles a lot. that's something we're not really used to from him, and it's so refereshing. I mean, I love the mopey characters as much as the pert but adorable horndogs, but I also love seeing him get a smile out of that (in Deb's words) gorgeous rubber face of his. And if you flick the right switch, it will even make tears stream from those lovely brown eyes. <click> smile (Not in this episode, though.) Say, Deb, did Marc ever cry on screen?

And I dare say that he looks gorgeous in that tux. Handsome. Lu can be so proud, she raised an upstanding young man, and Chris did his very best to bring him to life.

I will upload more SM clips of those episodes that Deb has sent, so you'll get to see a bit more of Chris as Marc Delgado soon. Stay tuned.

Re: Strong Medicine

Oh yes, Marc cried.  Mostly when he was younger.  I thought we even had a tearful Marc pic in the gallery here but I guess it was on some other site.  Marc was a fully realized character.  As I've said before he had a great arc.  He went from being kind of a precocious brat to a fine, upstanding young man.  The 4 eps I sent you, TeeJay attest to that.

We get noble Marc, protecting his best friend from her abusive lout of a boyfriend; studious Marc trying to graduate high school a year early (he hated school as a kid); kind and responsible Marc coming home from college and stepping up to be a man when he thinks he may have gotten his ex-girlfriend pregnant; and finally we get the fine young man who gives his mother away at her wedding.  I just love this guy!

And Chris was brilliant at playing all the many colors and layers they gave him over the 6-year run of the show.  I admire him for always coming back to play Marc whenever they needed him and he was available.  A lot of actors wouldn't do that.

I remember seeing clips of these scenes from the internet, especially the one with his pregnant girlfriend. I think that was a remarkable performance.

Well, this happens when you have three admins. Anne just wanted to quote my post, but accidentally edited it. (Next time open your eyes, girl! wink ) So I'll have to repost. I can't really remember what I wrote, but I think I only posted the links to the new clips I uploaded. So here goes:
