Here's the link, Abbie.
She did a fantastic job summing it all up and it has her reaction to finally seeing it too.
BEAUTIFUL, Deb!
Thanks

TeeJay, I think it's time you repost your Short History of Fanboys for new people who are starting to become aware that it's on the way. Like maybe do a bulletin on MySpace again. I bumped your thread back to the top on IMDb. If people start seeing the poster and the trailer and then the marketing starts to gear up, more and more and more people are going to be asking that same question, What Happened To Fanboys? You might even consider using that as a title for a MySpace bulletin.
Sure as hell wouldn't hurt ME to read of this.
I think I am Fanboys' friend on MySpace.
If not, then please do add me to your site.
You ladies know of my MySpace URL, I think ..... Deb surely does.
I didn't send you anything. I was trying to post a link here on the MB to what the front page of the Fanboys website looks like because people keep saying there's no date on it, but I see a date. You have your reply notification by turned on, don't you?
I do have my reply notification turned on, Deb.
I just got two links (in my e-mail inbox for a reply given here) that did not work out, or were broken. I thought you were trying to post me something, personally.
Hiya, Deb:
Will you kindly do me a great favour? I (just this second) got two links from you, just now, in my regular e-mail inbox that do not work.
Looks like they were Docs of some sort, maybe?
Could you please flip me them again, as I would love to read what you sent me.
Note: One link had the [img] things wrapped around it.
The other had the [url]thingies wrapped around it, but none worked.
Thanks,
-- Abbie
We don't know for sure, Abbie. We've been pretty sure about Fanboys release dates a few times, and then it got pushed back again. However, with an actual date now being advertised on the official website, I believe this is as sure as it gets with Fanboys. However, I will refrain from making any statements about fixed release dates where Fanboys is concerned. We've been burned one too many times.
I completely understand your position.
I'm not bitter, just realistic.
I would not perceive you as being embittered, or the sort to become that, TeeJay.
I'll believe the release date at the end of January or beginning of February, when theaters actually start listing it on their schedules.
-TeeJay
Yes, as they say: "Seeing IS believing", isn't it? I am very much looking forward to seeing this film, as Deb can tell you amply :youdaman:.
But then again, we're not your average Star Wars or Fanboys fans...
TeeJay, so this film WILL come out next month now, correct?
Reading about this movie being pushed back ... and back is scaring me a bit.
I am budgeting for it to, in my finances ... (Yes, I have to budget just to see films that poor am I)

simontbh,
Thanks for the FANBOYS information.
I am looking forward to seeing this long-awaited film when it comes out in ... February of 2009 :applause:
LOOKING very much forward to seeing Chris collaborate with this highly quirky directour.
"Welcome to the Dollhouse" was a true one-off film, I must say.
Solondz is a strange one, but this doesn't seem to have detracted from his ability to make watchable films.
(He and John Waters should collaborate ...)
Anyway,
I was excited to read this, from you Guys:
Chris to star in the new Todd Solondz movie ::: Posted on Nov 13, 2008 by TeeJay
Chris's latest project is a role in the new Todd Solondz movie that is currently still title-less. Once called Life During Wartime, the film stars Paul Reubens and focuses on a family during wartime. If nothing has changed since it was first announced a couple of years back, it brings together characters from Welcome to the Dollhouse and Happiness with different people playing the roles. The movie is currently being filmed on location in Puerto Rico.
For some people this might be a drawback: Paris Hilton also stars in the movie...
Source: www.cinematical.com
My only complaint about the news bit that you posted is that Hilton is also in this flick, but ... maybe she CAN act, so time will tell (?).
Sorry, I guess I thought you meant that we only deal with people on the periphery. No harm, no foul. The EH MB says that the code is incorrect even though I'm copying and pasting it in from where it is on the page. Makes no sense to me. It's the same code TeeJay registered with on the same day. I'm a little slammed right now and I said my say for now anyway. Maybe I'll try again this weekend.
Deb, CHECK your e-mails, please. I just Cc'd Kel what I sent to you, as HER board is the one you want in on ...
I am hoping my having done what I just did, helps .......
It should.
Kel is super busy with her new job, so she might not get back atcha for one-two days. Hang tight
We'll get you in, someway, somehow .......
-- Me
Well, it's not all peripheral either. We've basically spent the day with him twice. Goodness only knows how much time we'll get in LA, but maybe we'll be lucky enough to hang with him a little bit at least.
I guess when I said peripherally, I meant that you and TeeJay are not all THAT close to the guy is all ... Meaning too that you and she are in his peripheral orbit, maybe?
Deb, I can't wait to see you over on Emile-H.com!
Not sure why you are having the problems you are joining up, EXCEPT that Kel has to be the one to approve you, and .... she is busy, busy, busy with her brand new job! I think she only gets online about once every 3 days, currently.
TeeJay, were you awaiting approval long?
THAT board is also pretty lax insofar as you can be pretty critical of folks over there. We don't kiss the Tuckuses of whoever, as you might have noticed.
For some reason, I can't get registered on the Emile MB to toss in my two cents so I'll say it here. This is for Abbie:
It's not Chris's family who has invited us to a couple of premieres. Most of the time, his mom has no idea what's going on in that arena unless we tell her. We were invited to see Infestation by its director, Kyle Rankin. The invitation to the Fanboys screening came from the film's writer, Adam Goldberg. No one in Chris's family, not even Chris himself had anything to do with that. Yes, we have been invited to go to LA, but this will be our first time meeting his mom. We've only corresponded through email so far.
We do feel quite fortunate to have made contact with as many people surrounding Chris as we have. And yeah, we talk to him sometimes through email too. But we have always kept a respectable distance, and tried not to intrude on his privacy at all.
THANKS, Deb. TeeJay got in over there and gave me her corrections, too. I subsequently EDITED my OP and replies under my topic, which she appreciated.
I just think it is so cool that you guys had the experiences you did with Chris, albeit peripherally, that I let my desire to live vicariously and my enthusiasm run away with me, our Deb.
I apologise for this, and did, to Miss TeeJay.
Keep e-mailing Kel to get in, on Emile-H.com, Deb!
I would love to see you a-board, of course!
Nope, rent a room in a house.
Ahhh, I see, House-living is almost a right of passage, these days, isn't it? Apt. rents being so prohibitively pricey and all ...
Kitty, just a question about the "fit screen".
Is the picture distorted or looks squished when watching a widescreen film?
My roommate has a widescreen HDTV and he has it set to widescreen all the time and when he's watching a non widescreen program everything looks stretched out and distorted. So I can only imagine that if you watch a widescreen program on a 4:3 tv set so it fills up your screen that it looks like everyone got a lot thinner. Or is it just like zoomed in and the sides gets cut off?
Erm, you are asking the wrong person, I think.
I don't even own a DVD player!
I use someone else's on THEIR TV, which is also 4:3, a 1989 SONY. I normally just plop in any DVD and press play, unless I want to view the 'extras', or something.
I see the black bars above and below the movie, of course, but beyond this, I don't really notice what folks look like ... Just as long as they appear to me to be human, is all I really care about, ha!
Do you live in a Dorm? Just curious.
Deb and TeeJay will LOVE us for straying so far off topic .....
GimmeKitty wrote:I was actually referring to the fact that, in my peculiar parlance, DVD's are issued in two formats now: Blu-Ray and what I like to call "normal" or normal-widescreen format ... in other words, formatted for those of us with REGULAR DVD players not and Blu-Ray type.
THANKS, Illinois for this clarification. You are a real go-to guy, here! I recall your having been that from seeing your posts on the Alpha Dog MB in IMDB.com, too.
OK, I think what threw me off is the "Normal Widescreen format".
I think you're just referring to Blu-Ray and what could be called "regular dvd", "standard dvd", or what I think best fits is "Standard Definition DVD". In other words the DVD format that's been around since 1997.
Speaking in general terms, Anamorphic Widescreen isn't exclusive to Blu-Ray and has been available on Standard Definition DVD for over 10 years now. So there really isn't anything really called "Normal-widescreen" format.
While I don't own a Blu-Ray dvd player or even a widescreen tv yet, my understanding is that all Widescreen ratio films are released only in the Widescreen Format. Of course older TV shows/films that are in the 4:3 aspect ration ("Full screen" is presented in that format, or what I hate is what is called MAR (Modified Aspect Ratio) where they would actually blow up the original image to fill the widescreen tv screen which results in things being cut off.
With COMCAST, you can set anything to fit your TV's screen. My TV being that it's 30 years old (NOT a "typo", folks!) will show black lines above and below what's onscreen UNLESS I set my COMCAST Hi-Def box to read "fit screen" (or something akin to that) so that what I see fills my entire 4:3 screen.
Make sense?
Illinois, you b-l-o-w me away with your knowledge. I only wish I had you with me to help me with hooking up my new TV which I will soon get ...
Yes folks, PANASONIC makes great product. My current TV's lasted me ... 30 years!
I think you're talking about Anamorphic Widescreen AKA 16:9 Enhanced, etc.
Yes, dvds are issued in Widecreen that fills up a widescreen tv, that's what Anamorphic means. The machine decodes the signal and sends it to the tv in such a way to fill up as much as the available screen as possible. 1.85 aspect ratio films will basically fill up a widescreen tv screen, while a 2.35 or higher ratio film will still have black bars visible - unless you zoom in.
Of course anamorphic widescreen has no benefit for standard 4:3 aspect ratio tv owners. black bars will be visible on everything widescreen.
I was actually referring to the fact that, in my peculiar parlance, DVD's are issued in two formats now: Blu-Ray and what I like to call "normal" or normal-widescreen format ... in other words, formatted for those of us with REGULAR DVD players not and Blu-Ray type.
THANKS, Illinois for this clarification. You are a real go-to guy, here! I recall your having been that from seeing your posts on the Alpha Dog MB in IMDB.com, too.
What do you mean by "Normal widescreen"?
By the way, it will be rated PG-13.
http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Fanboys- … -9920.html
Sorry if old news.
Sorry, Illinois .... I don't know the correct nomenclature ...
I mean, "Normal" as in other than blu-ray, and also because DVD's are usually issued in wide-screen format to fit WS TV's aren't they?
Sorry ... am not up on all the latest articulation, here.
Apparently, Fanboys will come out on BluRay on November 18, 2008. Hm... kinda strange--and early. What about the normal DVD?? I don't think any of us has BluRay, right? And I'm not about to buy a BluRay player for it.

-TeeJay
This IS odd.
I don't even own a DVD player, TeeJay.
I use my Mother's, ha.
Surely this has to be issued in the "wide-screen" format? The Normal, wide-screen format, that is.
You'd think it would be.
Let me rephrase: The quality of the YouTube vid is relatively poor but not horrible. The quality is too poor for me to want to put it on the front page. But the quality of the video is NOT THE POINT. It's the fact that it's a YouTube video that someone from the audience uploaded to YouTube. My point was that no one official cares enough to put the video up in a more official way for people to want to grab it and link it.
Now, can we please let this go?
-TeeJay
I was only trying to reconcile each of your posts with one another, TeeJay. I wasn't trying to badger or anything worse, I assure you. I like it all to fit and make sense. I understand your viewpoint better now. But, I have my own opinions, as well.
We have linked it here on the MB for anyone to go check out. We can't imbed it on the front page or something because it's not official and the quality is poor, as TeeJay said. Believe me, we've done more than our part promoting this movie. More than anyone, probably. Not all of what we went through was pleasant. I got stalked and harassed over private email by one nutjob. And we've done enough to raise the ire of the suits. Well, I should be honest and say that I have. I'm all done now. Our guys know that they are invited to use us and abuse us to promote the movie any way they want. If they give us something, we'll run with it. In the meantime, we wait. We've gotten pretty good at that.
OK, gotcha!
Sooo, it was the quality of the YT video that irked TeeJay, then ...
She had posted this:
TeeJay wrote:
It's not the quality that irks me ....
NOT meaning to nit-pick. Just trying to synchronise everything, with what had gone before, what I had read ....
If anyone from TWC monitored the MB and they didn't like it, we would've been smacked down ages ago. Read the Bend Over Fanboys thread. It's nothing but us bitching about their mistreatment of the film. They either know everything about us and how we feel, or they don't care and they know nothing. Either way, my own personal feelings about this movie are naked all over the Internet. TWC either knows everything about me, or they don't care and they don't know. Either way, it's far too late to put the kid gloves on with this one.
Okay, sooo ... why NOT post the YouTube video here, and promote the film, IF ... if the folks you are counting on to do just that won't ante up, owing to their mistreatment of it, thus far?
Maybe try tempting fate?
Look, I am all for sticking your neck out ....
It's on the MB, that's good enough. It's just not front page material.
Alright.
Just trying to get a handle on what exactly about the video you guys don't seem to like.
They don't care. How many times does it have to be said? TWC does not give a rat's ass about this movie.
Deb, are you SURE that no one from Weinstein Corp. views here? Just askin' ....
I feel you guys' frustration at having the film yanked from you so many times. I can only imagine what Christopher and Co. might be going thru', but, I suppose they just learn not to let anything get to them.
We have standards. Not sure I really wanna link to that wobbly video. Besides, I don't know if the official Fanboys guys would want for us to promote unofficial stuff like that. Guess they wouldn't mind as long as we're promoting the movie, but I'd rather not take any chances.
I don't know what the usual lead time for promo is, but I know that one month just seems way too short to have much of an effect.
-TeeJay
TeeJay, I'm confused. In an earlier post you said you weren't irked by the quality of the YT video. Then, you say you won't post it here because of its wobbliness (aka, quality ...) Help me out, here.
Yes, I agree with you about having standards, but all in all, I don't think the video looks all THAT bad ....
To my mind, thinking as a Fan perhaps, I feel as though folks here might not mind seeing a promo video for this film put up here. As you said, it's the promotion that counts, right?
Yes, one month shy of ANY film being released is ridiculous to start promo'ing stuff, isn't it?
It's not the quality that irks me, it's the fact that someone in charge should be putting this up somewhere on a more official site for everyone to see and to link to and show to people. I'd put it on our front page as a News bulletin if it wasn't a YouTube vid. If they want the movie to come out on Sep 19, they're a tad late with promotion. I have a feeling there's not gonna be any promotion to speak of. Just so Harvey gets his satisfaction when the movie tanks because no one but the geeks who've been following it for all these years are gonna watch it.
They could do so many things, promotion-wise, things that are cool and awesome that will get the broad public really geeked up. Because we know these guys have the material for it! Instead there's not even an official announcement out yet that the movie's gonna be released when everyone said it's gonna be released. There's no trailers showing anywhere. There's no nothing.
-TeeJay
Oh, alright. I thought your post referred to the video being a a crappy quality. I read it that way.
That said, I quite agree with you that promo'ing this thing is kicking off quite late in the game!
Now, isn't the promotions lead time usually about ... TWO months, TeeJay? 2 months before the release of any film?
Also, why not put up the YT video on this Site's front page, or ...?
I mean, this is where you can guarantee it will be viewed and appreciated.
Or, does this site not put up YT stuff?
Why is this not online in better quality? Guys, you really need to learn how to get the fans geeked up! The crappy, wobbly, filmed-off-the-screen version is barely watchable! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSAoXeGc7as
-TeeJay
TeeJay, I think it looks pretty good, being that it's YT and all. I could view it, just fine. Also, I'll take seeing what I can get, in YT, as I love it when anyone shares their goods & booty with the rest of us.
