In the newest issue of Empire here in the UK, there is a small mention of Fanboys in a section called 'Forever Delayed'. There's nothing nobody knows, but if anyone is interested in what it says, i quote;
Fanboys
This 2006 flick about Star Wars fans trying to get to Skywalker Ranch has proven a delight at conventions, yet general release has escaped it. Hello, it's another Harvey Weinstein project...
Current ETA: February 2009 (USA only)
It's quite amusing seeing their mention of Harvey for three out of the four films.
The other two being Kill Shot;
The answer could lie with Harvey Weinstein, who seems to have lost faith in the film.
and Outlander
Harvey Weinstein - yes, him again

simontbh,
Thanks for the FANBOYS information.
I am looking forward to seeing this long-awaited film when it comes out in ... February of 2009 :applause:

I really hope it's released in February '09. It keeps getting pushed back and it's beyond annoying!

darkhorizons has this list of Notable 2009 films and this is what they posted about Fanboys.
http://www.darkhorizons.com/news09/090105a.php
Fanboys
Opens: February 6th 2009
Cast: Sam Huntington, Chris Marquette, Dan Fogler, Jay Baruchel, Kristen Bell, Carrie Fisher, Ray Park
Director: Kyle NewmanSummary: It's 1998 and three former high school friends reunite to undertake the road trip of their fan-tasies - visiting George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch with plans to break in, steal "Star Wars: Episode I" and stake their claim as the first fanboys in history to watch it.
Analysis: The long-delayed, controversially changed and then later restored comedy about geeky fanboys arrives nearly two years after it was originally intended to hit. After so many issues behind-the-scenes, it's hard to imagine this living up to any of the hoopla that has surrounded it. Those going in who aren't aware of all the elaborate backstory will probably appreciate it more.

That's a nice conclusion to jump to from someone who hasn't seen it. And it's bull puckey. I would say that none of the three of us enjoyed it any less because we not only knew about the backstory --- we were part of it.

But then again, we're not your average Star Wars or Fanboys fans. One of the main reasons we were in it was because of one of the actors. It helped that the rest of the movie and the cast sounded pretty cool. Also, we were much, much deeper involved in the making of the movie and what was going on behind the scenes than the people that this article is talking about. I actually agree that those people unaware of the whole backstory will probably enjoy it more.
All this back and forth and pushing back and back and back has created frustrations, impressions and expectations for the average Fanboys fan. I can totally see that a lot of people might end up being disappointed because the movie doesn't live up to the uproar that it has created. Which I think it doesn't. Yes, of course we loved it, but we're not your average Fanboys fans. At least that's my take on it.

Frankly, I don't see all this supposed "hoopla" and "uproar" outside our website and IMDb, maybe a little AICN and IESB. Most regular people have still never even heard of the movie. And as I learned on fanforce.net, not every Star Wars fan gives half a crap about it. At least 2/3 of them were pretty much unaware of the movie or the so-called hoopla before I started giving them updates. And probably a large number of them have forgotten all about it by now. In fact, I stopped giving them updates because they just didn't seem to care.

You are right. Most of the public has never heard of this movie (or have forgotten anything they may have seen). When or if they release this movie, the public will only hear about it if they advertise it. Or it may follow the "Idiocracy" route where they finally hear about it when it shows up on cable and people discover it there. Or it may just disappear into obscurity like a lot of wonderful movies have. but in the end, there is no noticiable number of people who will be affected by knowledge of the backstory.

TeeJay, so this film WILL come out next month now, correct?
Reading about this movie being pushed back ... and back is scaring me a bit.
I am budgeting for it to, in my finances ... (Yes, I have to budget just to see films that poor am I)

We don't know for sure, Abbie. We've been pretty sure about Fanboys release dates a few times, and then it got pushed back again. However, with an actual date now being advertised on the official website, I believe this is as sure as it gets with Fanboys. However, I will refrain from making any statements about fixed release dates where Fanboys is concerned. We've been burned one too many times.
I'm not bitter, just realistic. I'll believe the release date at the end of January or beginning of February, when theaters actually start listing it on their schedules.

You know, it actually might. Kyle Newman kept insisting that it would be released theatrically in Europe, but there has not been a single blip about it being released anywhere outside the US anywhere, especially recently. I'm so glad I've already seen it on a fairly big screen, I have a feeling otherwise I never would have seen it on anything bigger than a TV.

Hiya, Deb:
Will you kindly do me a great favour? I (just this second) got two links from you, just now, in my regular e-mail inbox that do not work.
Looks like they were Docs of some sort, maybe?
Could you please flip me them again, as I would love to read what you sent me.
Note: One link had the [img] things wrapped around it.
The other had the [url]thingies wrapped around it, but none worked.
Thanks,

I didn't send you anything. I was trying to post a link here on the MB to what the front page of the Fanboys website looks like because people keep saying there's no date on it, but I see a date. You have your reply notification by turned on, don't you?

I do have my reply notification turned on, Deb.
I just got two links (in my e-mail inbox for a reply given here) that did not work out, or were broken. I thought you were trying to post me something, personally.

TeeJay, I think it's time you repost your Short History of Fanboys for new people who are starting to become aware that it's on the way. Like maybe do a bulletin on MySpace again. I bumped your thread back to the top on IMDb. If people start seeing the poster and the trailer and then the marketing starts to gear up, more and more and more people are going to be asking that same question, What Happened To Fanboys? You might even consider using that as a title for a MySpace bulletin.

Sure as hell wouldn't hurt ME to read of this.
I think I am Fanboys' friend on MySpace.
If not, then please do add me to your site.
You ladies know of my MySpace URL, I think ..... Deb surely does.

Sure, I can send out a bulletin tonight. Though I don't really think that'll have much of an effect because it only goes to my MySpace friends. I'm guessing those that are interested in the movie know what's going on anyway. But it's still worth a shot. The pseudo official Fanboys isn't my "Friend" anymore, so they won't get the bulletin. Not that they'd care anyway.
I'm not sure where else I could easily post the link. I really don't feel like signing up with tons of Star Wars message boards just to post my link. Back when I wrote it, I posted the link on the Fanboys-related Facebook groups I'm a member of. You already took care of IMDb. I posted the link on two or three Kristen Bell boards a while back. What would actually make sense is to post a link to the article in its Wiki entry. Will do that tonight too.
Deb, didn't you sign up on the TheForce.net board? Have you posted it there?
I guess we could put a little reminder about Fanboys coming out in February on our c-m.com front page too that includes the link to the article.

I did sign up there, but those people just didn't seen to care. If the thread for the movie were to get active again, I might post it there. Just an idea. Never mind.
