And he was a 3 time killer on columbo.  Which was the coolest.

#252 Re: Square Eyes » Mercy » 18 Mar 10 :: 03:30

Thanks for watching, not sure we are getting the ratings for a second season, but we have hopes.

On the stage on Monday, we were all agreeing that the intervention scene in this episode was the best scene of the series so far.  Very funny and amazingly touching.

BTW MSM has more screen time next week.

The Open Road open here in LA last summer, very briefly.  And I am pretty sure it is out on DVD already.  I would check netflix Deb.

First, Sean Penn was like that because the teleprompter went out and he had to suddenly adlib.

There is a lot of talk about why people didn't vote for Avatar (all over the press, not just here), why it didn't win more awards, Well, as one of those "technical" guys, The Hurt Locker deserved most of the awards it won.  The sound editing and sound mixing was clearly the best of the year. The picture editing was perfect.  And the directing was no doubt the deserving winner.  If you want to debate what was the best film of the year that is legit, but no one voted for the Hurt Locker in those other categories because they had a problem with Avatar, they just thought the Hurt locker was stronger.

And so you know where I stand on these 2  movies, I have seen them both, and I wouldn't have voted for either in the Best picture category.  (I thought Up, District 9, and The Blind Side were better then both).  But I would have voted for The Hurt locker in the 4 categories I mentioned above.

Then I think you will be interested in the episode which will air on St. Patrick's Day.  We seem to have a new cast member.

#256 Re: All About Chris » 6 Degrees of Chris » 05 Mar 10 :: 23:23

You got me there.  I think this is one of John Waters' people but not sure and definately not sure which movies.  Could probably fake it with Devine but I don't really know it.

#257 Re: Square Eyes » Mercy » 05 Mar 10 :: 23:20

Deb,
I seem to remember you mentioning at some point that Mary Stuart Masterson was a favorite.

How about Ricky Gervais?

#261 Re: Square Eyes » Mercy » 03 Mar 10 :: 23:49

back on tonight, and should be several weeks in a row of new episodes

#262 Re: Square Eyes » The Ricky Gervais Show » 02 Mar 10 :: 04:58

I think I have seen them all, and love them.  The Kate Winslet one is especially funny now.  In it she is doing a holocaust movie so she can win an oscar.  that was made about 4 years before she did a holocaust movie and won an oscar.

#263 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Random JoA Stuff... » 02 Mar 10 :: 04:55

more like when he was 5, very funny though

#264 Re: Square Eyes » The Ricky Gervais Show » 01 Mar 10 :: 01:29

Yeah, he really cracks me up.  The big question is he really like that or is it an act.  Ricky swears it is all real, that Karl is really just being himself.  There was a lot of debating among the crew about it.  But either way, he is really funny, and ultimately the star of the show.

#265 Re: Square Eyes » The Ricky Gervais Show » 20 Feb 10 :: 07:37

Same opening on every one.  We tried to clean them up, but not a lot we could do, because Ricky was insistent that we not change them.  So, there is a lot of off-mike stuff in the final episodes.

#266 Re: Square Eyes » The Ricky Gervais Show » 20 Feb 10 :: 05:08

Thank you.  I went to a screening party tonight, (No Ricky didn't show up but he sent a video)  It was fun to watch it in a room full of people laughing.  And I love the screen credit.  I think it is the clearest credit I have ever had.

I haven't been on the board as much lately because I have been crazy, doing 2 series at once.  Mercy and The Ricky Gervais Show.  It starts airing on HBO next Friday the 19th.  It is really funny, (I laugh while I'm working on it) and it seems I will have a nice big credit on the end!  If anyone knows the podcasts that Ricky has been doing for years, then you will know this material.  But it is a lot of fun, so if you have a chance, check it out.

#269 Re: Square Eyes » Mercy » 11 Feb 10 :: 09:19

Not gonna be on for a few weeks (the olympics).  I haven't even seen it yet.

I guess I have been away even longer.  Happy Belated Birthday everyone!

Let the right one In is AWESOME.  It was really nice to see a real vampire film, (it has a little teen angst, but it is a played as part of the story instead of the story).  the remake will probably stink, they will probably make it into a Twilight knockoff.

#272 Re: Square Eyes » Mercy » 31 Jan 10 :: 02:13

Dawson is actually really good.  and he adds an element the show needed.

#273 Re: Chris On Screen » Black Friday 3D - No Longer A Chris Project » 09 Jan 10 :: 07:55

This has "Direct-to-Video" written all over it.  (along with all the other credits of these guys)

#274 Re: Square Eyes » Mercy » 09 Jan 10 :: 07:44

Live is a relative thing in TV.  I am pretty sure the singing did come from the closeup of her singing.  I agree about the shot of Al at the end, it was heartbreaking.

As my daughter described it, "God is trying to add as much suckiness in at the end of the year"  A couple of months ago, we teamed up with my in-laws to buy my son a car for his 18th birthday.  It was used, and we had looked for months for the right combination of car and price and had finally found the perfect one.  Well, I got a letter today from the DMV (department of motor vehicles for those of you out of the country), saying we couldn't register the car.  Well, several phone calls later, I learn that the car dealership had sold a car which couldn't be legally registered in California.  It is long and complicated but it involves the emissions requirements in California and the actions of the previous owner, but the result is we can't keep the car.  The dealership is part of a large company, and they are saying they are going to make it right, but....My son is still going to lose his first car,
